He also became a star in this time, a well-renowned name not from the Empire once ruled under the last name he held but instead by the way he could make even the angriest Vikings sway, the way he connected constellations of lyrics and gave them meanings all on their own. Wilbur got the name of a siren but the reputation of a comet: a show that came and went, one to wish upon but never to keep.

When Sally first saw him, she thought he was the most annoying man she'd ever met. Extraordinarily tall for no reason, flirting with everyone who gave him a second, smiling in the face of angry Vikings as if he wasn't seconds away from getting a black eye (one time he had, in his first few days in their village still managing to hold his head high and laugh at the stares). He seemed arrogant, unprofessional, cocky - all Sally could do was roll her eyes.
And every time he noticed her, he looked at her like she was the sun.
