All for the want of a horseshoe nail

Summary:

Class 1-A was having a relatively normal day compared to most. So, of course something had to go and ruin it. They were definitely not expecting for four other Midoriyas to show up in their living room. Because of course they do.
----
The entity known as Clouds has become restless, but she has devised a plan. And she was not afraid of the repercussions.

Chapter 1: Storm in the dorms. Wait, what?

Chapter Text

There are three types of gods. There are the minor gods, also known as backseat or passenger gods, who have no control over reality and exist only to experience reality. The second type are beta gods, or shotgun gods. They have the power to change certain worlds in minute ways, but mostly are used as ways to fix problems that are found in dimensions. The last type are major gods. Another name for them are driver gods or authors. They create worlds and can bend them to their whims however they want. The gods are different in many ways, but there is one thing that ties them together: their need to feed.

Before we continue, there is something that must be noted: gods are unstable beings. Gods that are completely healthy mentaly are few and far between. Most gods find themselves in a variety of mental problems, though they are usually most prominent in the minor gods. Because of these problems, gods feed off different byproducts of dimensions. Some gods prefer chaos and heartbreaking scenarios, while others prefer cute moments that make someone feel fluffy inside.

Whatever the case, the minor gods rely on the major ones for a source of nutrition, jumping from creation to creation in search of supplements. One of the most popular suppliers of this resource is a goddess named Clouds. She sectioned off a corner of dimensions completely and created an empire all for herself, with thousands of minor gods flocking to the planets and surrounding areas to take advantage of the surplus of resources that resided there.
----
Despite the abundance of resources she held and admiration that she got, Clouds was discontent. She had started the dimensions she had because she craved only one thing: destruction and chaos. After she noticed that some minor gods had started to come to her dimensions, she had started to affect the dimensions so that she could feed off the despair of the minor gods as well. Soon, she had four major worlds that were bending to her whims and the other gods were eating it up. Clouds sat in her castle, her four planets and their smaller moons orbiting around her, musing over her creations. Her castle was basically a sun, a ball of cool fire that surrounded a glimmering white castle made of marble and carved to look like it was made of real clouds. It also had four spires, one where she would create each instance for her four beloved factories of chaos. In the throne room, where she was currently sitting, there was a poem inscribed in the marble:

For want of a nail the shoe was lost
For want of a shoe the horse was lost
For want of a horse the rider was lost
For want of a rider the message was lost
For want of a message the battle was lost
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

The poem was something she had come across in her travels, and it astounded her that such a small thing could have a big impact. It was what she had based her beloved worlds on. For the want of a nail.
She had a surplus of chaos and fells to feed off of, but it never felt like enough. Then she was struck with an incredible idea. She could make them all converge! That would cause enough chaos to fuel her for ages! There was probably even a way that she could use the insecurities of her versions to fuel herself further. Like her ideas for her worlds, a plan began to form in her mind. She could even use the source planet in her plan, that would fuel them further to create chaos. With a goal in mind, she began accumulating the needed power to take a slice of the source planet for herself, as well as the power to create a small time stop so her plantes didn’t go unsupervised while she fed off the chaos she brewed.
Soon she had saved up and obtained what she needed, though minorly deapleating herself. No matter, she could always just use the almost infinite supply of chaos she was sure to create once her plan was set in motion. Now it was only a matter of time.
----
Midoriya woke up to a relatively normal morning. The sun was filtering through his All Might themed curtains and he heard some birds singing outside his window. So, of course, something had to blow up. Something meaning Bakugou. An explosion sounded from the first floor of Heights Alliance as Midoriya thumped downstairs and was met with an… interesting sight. Bakugou was holding Kaminari by the collar of his shirt, his other hand in a clawed position, ready to release an explosion. The rest of the Bakusquad were spread all around the kitchen. Kirishima was trying to hold back Bakugou, Mina was sprawled on her back on the counter, a bowl of oatmeal on her chest, and Sero was hanging from a piece of tape on the ceiling, as if the floor was made of lava. Jirou was sitting on the counter next to Ojiro, the former having a bored look on her face, and the latter looking mildly traumatized, a byproduct of being the sanest person in class 1-A.
Seeing as this was nothing new, Midoriya simply let out a sigh and made his way over to the fridge, getting out an orange and a bowl of cereal. By the time that a few more people had come down, the conflict was resolved and people started to go about their day. Since it was the weekend, they didn’t have any classes, and they were still on probation after the last time they were allowed out of campus. (a building collapsed.) So they decided to just chill in the common area and try to finish their homework. They grouped around different tales, chatting and being generally chaotic, nothing new. Until the storm rolled in.
----
Now, there’s nothing generally threatening about a storm, except when it rolls around indoors.
“What the fuck?” Bakugou yelled as dark clouds started to flow into the living room. Lightning was seen flashing across it, so they knew it wasn’t just regular smoke.
“Can someone go get Aizawa-sensei?” Momo asked.
“I think it's my turn.” replied Shoji, getting up from his position on the floor and being careful to not get his head stuck in the small rainstorm currently forming on the ceiling. After he had left, the others simply stared at the storm like this was something that happened every day. (and let's be honest, it was.)
“We should probably cover our work, it might start to rain.” Mina pointed out. A few murmurs of agreement rang out as they started cleaning up their papers and putting them in safe places.
“So, what do you think it is this time?” Jirou asked. A moment of silence hung over the room before,
“It doesn't matter, Shoji is getting Aizawa-sensei then he can handle it.” This time it was Todoroki who spoke. A few nods went around and everybody went back to packing away their homework. Suddenly, a large thunderclap rang out in the room, a flash of lightning accompanying it as the clouds started to swirl and form a type of portal, the clouds turning a deep blue color. Strong bursts of wind blowing all lightweight items around the room, including Mineta.
“Okay, who did it this time?” Kaminari yelled, gripping onto the side of the couch.
“It wasn’t me this time, I swear!” Midoriya cried.
----
The storm continued to rage, getting stronger by the minute, then it stopped. The wind died down, and all that was left was a swirling mass of ocean blue clouds. The room fell silent as the heroes-in-training caught their breath.
“Is it over?...” Uraraka asked, picking herself off the floor.
“I… think so? Kero.” replied Tsu, who had stuck to the wall to avoid being blown away. Then, a distant yell was heard, seemingly coming from the portal.
“Wha-” but Sero didn’t get to finish his sentence as a body fell from the portal and face-planted on the rug. Then another, and another, and another. Okay, this was definitely not a normal day.

Chapter Text

Mastermind was simply minding his business during another unremarkable day. Well, as unremarkable as you can get when you are in jail for being Japan’s #1 villain. It was fine though, he had a plan. But, in the meantime, he was amusing himself with psychologically scarring the guards that were unlucky enough to be posted by his cell.

At the moment he was talking about his theories about which animal Nezu was. (His personality was of a rat but his species was a more interesting subject.) He was currently yapping off some BS about how Nezu was a chinchilla and just cut his hair short because of the number of toe beans he had, or something like that. The guard looked like he was going to have an aneurysm, given that they lived in Japan and no one knew what a chinchilla was in the first place.

Mastermind was happily chatting his head off when he noticed something strange. The guard seemed to have stilled more than usual. As he got up, he noticed that none of the guns that were usually trained on him had moved like they usually would. He approached the guard, curious but cautious. The guard seemed to be frozen, completely stopped. It was almost like time itself had stopped . Well, he wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth and escape, but suddenly clouds started to form inside his cell.

Then the floor fell out from under him and he was falling through a thick mist. As he fell, he could have sworn he saw other figures falling through the mist with him, though it might have just been a trick of the mist. Then he fell onto a table. And he felt three other people fall onto him. This was going to be… fun.

-----

Viridian had just finished tying up his latest mugging when Eraserhead dropped from the rooftops.

“Viridian. Have you thought about my offer?” Eraser said apprehension in his voice.

“Yes, Eraser, and I already told you. I can’t be a hero.” Viridian replied.

“Problem chi-” suddenly Eraser stopped mid-sentence, and he seemed to freeze in place.

“Eraser? Are you okay?” Viridian waved his hand in front of Eraser’s face, but there was no reaction, not even a twitch. In his worry for the underground hero, he didn’t notice the fog that was slowly covering the alley until the ground shifted from under his feet and he fell into an abyss of mist. Falling, Viridian tried to see if there was something he could catch himself on in the mist-covered chasm. Finding nothing, he resigned himself to his fate of either ending up as a splatter on the floor when he landed or falling forever in this bottomless pit. Closing his eyes, he curls into a ball and waits for the end. His imaginary Kacchan started to talk. You really are just a Deku, aren't you. You let yourself get caught. Eraser is probably in danger thanks to that paralysis, and you are going to die here. He was forcefully pulled out of that thought spiral as the clouds cleared and he landed on top of a pillow. Or at least he thought it was a pillow, but seeing as it let out a huff of annoyance, it was probably a person. Before Viridian could comprehend this though, two more people fell on top of him.

-----

Cheat Code was typing on his computer when he heard an explosion coming from the outside of his office. A few seconds later a resounding,

“Mei!” Power Loader’s voice sounded from the other side of the door.

“Sorry!” a female voice rang out. Cheat Code shook his head. Mei was his best friend and his partner in crime, so he found that he could handle her strange personality more than most, namely their homeroom teacher, Power Loader, who probably already had grey hairs from his time spent around the class H gremlins, as some liked to call them. He got up, finishing a sentence in his analysis and walking over to the door. Opening the door, he was greeted by a strange sight. It was like someone had hit the pause button on the world.

All of Cheat Code’s peers were seemingly frozen in various positions of action. So, naturally, he started freaking out. What was happening? Was this a villain attack? Did they figure out his secret identity? Was this all his fault? He started checking his classmates to see if they were breathing, but then he noticed something strange. One of Mei’s inventions had started sparking, but there was something off. The sparks were suspended in place. It was as if…

“...time stopped.” Cheat Code let out a breath. Was that possible? Could there be a quirk that stopped time? If so, why was he still moving? Was it something that Mei did? No, that was impossible without the use of a quirk, at least with the technology that they had at UA. Maybe Uraraka had manifested a new part of her quirk?

As he thought, something caught his eye. Fog had been beginning to fill the classroom, curls of white covering every surface in the room. He began to panic. What is this? What is happening? He tried to run, but the metaphorical rug was pulled out from under him and he fell into the mist. And fell. And fell. And fell. Cheat Code thought that he had simply fallen into a bottomless hole and was going to die there. Then, he fell on top of someone. And someone fell on top of him.

-----

Deku was training in the gym with Bakugou, a simple light spar to relieve some stress. After the licencing exam and the following incident, they had been on good terms, so it was alright to engage in a light spar. Bakugou was lying on his stomach, arms bound behind his back.

“You give up, Katsuki?” Deku said, amusement in his voice. Bakugou rolled his eyes.

“The fuck do you think, you have me in a lock of-fucking-course I give up, nerd.” he replied, no anger in his voice. Deku simply smiled and released his hold, helping his classmate back up. Suddenly, he felt Bakugou’s muscles tighten in his grip and he froze.

“Katsiki? Are you okay?” He tried to pull him up but he wouldn’t budge. He also tried to release his hand, but Bakugou had a death grip. He struggled, but it made no difference, then, the entire gym filled with clouds. Not knowing what they were, Deku started panicking and trying to get his hand out. Then, suddenly, his hand popped out of Bakugous, causing him to stumble and fall into the fog. Falling, Deku didn’t know what to do. He was simply not prepared for this to happen. Then, he stopped falling. More accurately, he landed on top of a mound of other bodies.

-----

Aizawa was having a cup of coffee, enjoying the weekend and grading papers. He was also worried. His hell class had been strangely quiet for the entire morning, so something was bound to happen soon. As if on cue, he heard a knock on his door. He opened it to find Shoji standing in the doorway.

“What is it this time?” he asked, fatherly tone seeping through his mask of annoyance, already betting in his mind what it was this time.

“We don’t really know sensei, a bunch of storm clouds just started forming inside the common area. It doesn't seem threatening though.” Shoji replied. Aizawa simply sighed and started to make his way to the common room. “Hey, I got Aizawa-sensei…” Shoji trailed off as he saw the scene in front of them.

The room was a mess, papers were everywhere and smaller things were scattered around, his problem children were all in battle positions, looking at the lump of four bodies that were in the middle of the room. They were breathing as far as he could see.

The one on the bottom was wearing a bright orange jumpsuit, like a prisoner. The next one was wearing a black hoodie and a pair of green goggles. The third was dressed in a modified version of the UA uniform, with a black undershirt and no tie. The last one, laying on top, was wearing a UA PE uniform.

The most confusing part by far though, had to be the fact that they all had the same bushy green hair as one of his students. He whipped around to look at the offending student, who was staring at his apparent doubles, a dumbfounded look on his face. Midoriya looked up at Aizawa.

“This wasn’t my fault, I swear!”

Chapter Text

Midoriya was in a state of shock. There were four people laying on top of each other in front of him, groaning and shifting, but not being particularly threatening. The most confusing part though, besides the fact that they just fell from a portal made of clouds, was the fact that they all looked like him in some way.

The one in a prison jumpsuit had longer hair than the others, the one in the school uniform was a little paler than the rest, and the one in the PE uniform was a lot better built. He was snapped out of his soupor as the one on top, the one he called PE uniform, untangled himself from the rest and stood up.

“Okay, is this some sort of prank?” PE uniform said, looking around. “Eraser, what’s going on? One second, I’m training with Katsuki in the gym, and the other I’m back in the dorms. And who are all these other people that look like me?” Aizawa looked like he was going to have an aneurysm. There were what seemed to be four new versions of his problem child, one of whom was addressing him as if he hadn’t just dropped out of the sky with a couple of doubles.

The most disturbing part though, was the fact that he had called Bakugou Katsuki. Not Kacchan, Katsuki. Midoriya stole a glance at Bakugou. He looked about the same as the rest of the class, not believing his eyes, but when he heard another version of his childhood victim not call him by his nickname, he looked about to burst. Luckily, Aizawa-sensei had picked up on the tension in the room and decided to take action.

“I’m afraid you have the wrong person. Not to imply that you are not remembering correctly, but I’m fairly certain that both Bakugou and Midoriya were here for the entire morning.” Aizawa also sent a glance over to the two aforementioned boys for confirmation. After a moment, the class's attention was back on the four strangers. PE uniform looked confused, the Midoriya in the blazer looked uncomfortable and was chewing on a pencil, the one in the hoodie looked like he was ready to bolt, and jumpsuit was eying them all wearily.

“What? B-but…” PE uniform stuttered out, looking at his hands as if they weren't his. Sensing the child’s distress, hurriedly gathered himself.

“We can figure out what is going on here and find a way to send you back, don’t worry. We can figure this out.” PE uniform seemed to relax, and sat down on the carpet, looking exhausted. The rest of the variations followed suit, looking uncomfortable, but calmer. “Okay, we can start with introductions. Just your name, quirk, and a fun fact about yourself, I guess.” Aizawa said, sitting down on the homework-covered couch.  The rest of 1-A settled around the room, some by the walls, others sitting on the ground, trying not to crush the papers scattered around. Some of the Bakusquad left to get food in the kitchen. All of the copies stiffened at the quirk comment, some more masked than others.

“I'll go first,” Blazer said. “My name is Izuku Midoriya, I am a hacker and analyst known as Cheat Code.” The entire class was in a state of shock. There it was, proof that there was more  than one Midoriya, and it was hard to believe that things were so different with this version. Then, Mina piped up, coming back from getting a snack.

“What about your quirk? If you’re an analyst, then you must have an intelligence quirk, right?” Blazer, or Cheat Code, Midoriya thought, had stiffened up and looked like he was going to pass out.

“Well..” the boy said, looking very uncomfortable. “I’m, actually, I’m quirkless…” Cheat Code said the last part so quietly, they almost didn’t catch it. The entire class looked at him in surprise. Before they could say anything though, PE uniform piped up.

“Well, I guess I’m next. My name is also Izuku Midoriya, my hero name is Deku, and I am also quirkless.” The revelation rocked the class. When there was one version of Midoriya that not only didn’t have a powerful quirk, but was quirkless, they were shocked, but two? That was reality-shattering. They were all frozen in place until the Midoriya in the hoodie started talking.

“I am also Izuku Midoriya. I am a vigilante and go by the name of Viridian. I… have no quirk.” By that point most of the class was leaning against walls and sitting on the floor looking… well… floored, by the information. Most of them were staring in shock and a few of them looked like they were being haunted by ghost.

The worst was Midoriya himself. He was panicking. What if they started questioning if he was quirkless as well? His flimsy excuse for how he got his quirk would probably not hold up against speculation from his peers. What if they found out that he used to be quirkless? what would happen then? Would they expel him? All Might would be so disappointed in him if they did. Would he demand that he give his quirk to Miro? He hoped that they would believe him when he told them that he was just a late bloomer, and that there was no way that he got his Quirk any other way.

All of the people in the room had turned their heads towards the last Midoriya. The one in the prison jumpsuit seems to be the one least affected by sudden change in environment. He was just sitting on the ground looking at all of the shocked faces around him and seeming not to care but he kept a close eye on Bakugou and Uraraka, seemingly  distrustful of them.

“Well, since everybody went, I guess it's my turn. As you might have guessed, my name is Izuku Midoriya, and I am Mastermind, the #1 villain in Japan, I have defeated three number one heros, caused the downfall of society, and I am quirkless.”

The room exploded.

Chapter Text

Heights Alliance was, to put it lightly, a chaotic hell. Mastermind and Bakugou were trying to strangle each other, Aizawa the only thing preventing them from doing so, Viridian kept trying to hide behind Kaminari, and the electric user was getting really creeped out. There were multiple things floating around the room, including homework, a lamp, multiple pencils, five couch cushions, and Jirou and Kirishima. Sero, Satou and Hagakure were hanging from the ceiling via Sero’s tape, and Tsu was sticking to the wall, turning multiple different colors in quick succession, giving a headache to anyone who looked at her for too long. Uraraka, Aoyama and Mina were having a form of a glitter fight, apparently trying to find Hagakure, not knowing she was on the ceiling. Cheat Code and Deku were sitting on the kitchen counter with principal Nezu, deep in conversation about different topics, like analysis, support items, how to properly hide a body, how to reform hero society without collapsing the economy, and how to take over the world. Tokaymi was floating near Jirou and Kirishima with the aid of Dark Shadow, reading a leather-bound book and muttering to himself. Momo and Shouji were chewing out Mineta for being pervy (again), Todoroki was sitting on a couch, apathetic to the chaos around him, occasionally muttering a word or two of gibberish. Ojiro was hiding under a table, regretting his life decisions, and Shinsou was wondering how the heck he got into these situations. Well, it started something like this.

----

“Well, since everybody went, I guess it's my turn. As you might have guessed, my name is Izuku Midoriya, and I am Mastermind, the #1 villain in Japan, I have taken down three number one heros, caused the downfall of society, and I am quirkless.”

The room exploded. Voices echoed all over the room, Aizawa instantly lunging forward and wrapping the long-haired Midoriya version in his capture weapon. Mastermind chuckled, like this was an entertaining play. The other Midoriyas had distanced themselves from the other, as if he had some sort of dangerous disease.

“Relax, Eraserhead, I won’t hurt anybody. By the way that you didn’t recognise me on sight, I assumed that this was somewhere that I had never been to before, so things must be different if I never became a villain.” the bound boy chuckled. The rest of the class stilled at the logic that the boy had shown.

“Well, I’m still not taking any chances.” Aizawa said, tightening the bonds. “Iida, run and go get Nezu, he needs to know about this, if he doesn't already.” the blue haired boy nodded and ran off to find the principal. The rest of the class shifted their attention to the other green haired copies. The one in the hoodie, Viridian, seemed to shrink more into his oversized hoodie he was wearing. The other two also seemed to shrink a bit under the intense gaze of their sort-of classmates.

“Are you really a villain?” The meek voice of Hagakure broke the silence of the room. Mastermind looked towards the invisible girl.

“Yep. I managed to strategize how to kill multiple heroes including Mount Lady and I killed All Might with my bare hands. I was the black market's best strategist and analyst. I have planned more heists and crimes that I can count. And I did it all without a quirk.” The class was shell shocked. After that revelation, everyone seemed tired. They couldn’t see her face, but Hagakure seemed to be regretting asking in the first place. Mastermind turned to the other Midoriya's standing a few feet away from him. “So, what’s your story? We have a vigilante, a support analyst, and not one but two, ew, heroes. How the hell am I the only one who saw the things that were wrong in this society?”

“What do you mean?” Momo asked. Mastermind turned his attention over to the creation girl.

“Well, you wouldn’t understand, given the fact that you grew up as a rich girl with a powerful quirk, but I’ll try to explain it so you can understand.” The class looked curiously at the villain who had shown up in their living room. Mastermind glanced around to make sure that he had their full attention before continuing.

“Hero society is broken, those with powerful quiks are raised to a god-like status, and all others are crushed underneath. All Might, who I assume is still alive, the oaf, became a pillar that held society up. Without him, hero society falls apart at the seams, since there is no one else fit to take up that mantle. I took advantage of that in my plans. Today's “heroes” get away with almost as much as the villains they hunt down like animals. Did you know that 90% of villains are pushed into villany by hero society in some way? Be it poverty, quirk descrimination, or simply losing trust in heroes, most people that break the law are pushed into that lifestyle. Just ask that brainwasher, what's-his-name, with the gravity-defying hair?”

“Shinsou?” Cheat Code supplied.

“Right, him. He was probably discriminated against for his seemingly “unheroic” quirk, right? He’s one of the lucky ones, he had the stubbornness to keep working through his problems. I mean, this is an assumption. Is he even in UA in this world?” After getting confirmation that, yes, Shinsou was at UA and, yes, he was on his way to the hero course, something that made Cheat Code and Viridian light up like a pair of Christmas lights, Mastermind continued his story.

“Well, since I have no quirk at all, I was even more discriminated against than even people with villain quirks. I mean, at least they can do something right? But quirkless people can’t do anything , right? Wrong. I managed to almost destroy society as we know it, turn multiple UA students over to my side, have Bakugou go vigilante and kill somebody, make Uraraka work herself to death trying to become the next symbol of peace, and the only reason that I ended up in Tartarus was the fact that my mom ratted me out.” At that moment, Iida decided to return with principal Nezu. “Speaking of rats,” Mastermind muttered. Deku and Cheat Code straightened up at the sight of the chimera principal.

“Oh, we seem to be in quite the predicament don’t we?” the mousy principal said. “This is the first time that I have encountered beings from another dimension, and I am quite certain that this is not what I was expecting.” The residents of Heights Alliance had seen so much in the past half hour that they weren’t even fazed by the suggestion.

“No shit!” Kaminari called out, the rest of the class laughing at his outburst, the Midoriyas joining in.

“We still need to find a way home, though. Do you have any ideas, Principal Nezu?” Deku spoke up. The white rat gave a sharp grin at the quirkless hero. “Not at the moment, but I’m sure that we can figure something out. Midoriya, is it alright if I call you Cheat Code, make things easier?” The principal turned to the Midoriya with the blaser, and he nodded. “Well, from what I heard, you happen to be an analyst. It’s been a long time since we have had a student analyst at UA, do you mind explaining a little more what you do?” Cheat Code looked uncertain for a moment before nodding.

“Well, I’m part of the support course. Most of the time I analyze hero course students and help them get better with their quirks. I’m also your personal student, and official Mei Hatsume wrangler.” Deku turned to the other boy, a light in his eyes.

“You’re an analyst too? And Nezu’s personal student? What is he like in your universe? Can we compare notes on quirks? What is your fastest analysis time?” The two boys quickly started talking at max speed about a multitude of different things. Soon, Nezu had wormed his way into the conversation and pulled out a laptop, leaving the rest of the people in the room to mingle. Mina turned to Mastermind,

“You mentioned before that you made Bakugou go vigilante, what did you mean by that?” She asked. Mastermind smiled.

“Well, you see me and Bakugou are old childhood friends, but after my diagnosis as quirkless, he became my tormentor. He constantly bullied me and hurt me with his quirk. Things happened, one thing led to another and I eventually became a villain. After my mother called the police on me and my identity as a quirkless teenager came out to the public, and since I had beaten him many times before my identity was revealed, Bakugou couldn’t handle the fact that I was stronger than him. So, like the bastard he is, he started doing semi-illegal vigilantism to prove that he was stronger. He just ended up killing a person though.” Mastermind ended his explanation with a chuckle at the faces of the people around him as they tried to process what they just heard.

“Bastard?” Bakugou yelled as Mastermind started laughing his ass off at the look of rage on the explosive boy’s face. Aizawa quickly launched another part of his capture weapon at the blond. The hero student lunged forward, jaws snapping at the green-haired villain. Mastermind let out another laugh.

“You haven’t changed at all, I see. A dimension of a difference, and you are still the egotistical little brat that beat me up in middle school.” Bakugou stopped thrashing for a moment, as if contemplating something.

“You probably don’t get a lot of girls as a villain, do you?” He asked, trying to get a rise out of the other boy. Mastermind’s grin widened.

“Not really, but I’m not exactly in the business for dating, seeing as I already have a boyfriend.”

“Oh really, who? Some low-life that you bribed into a relationship?” Bakugou shot back. It didn’t seem possible, but the villainous greenette’s smile widened even more.

“No actually, his name is Shouto Todoroki. I freed him from his father, and he joined the League of Villains.” The entire dorm fell silent. Well, except for the trio in the back, but all other eyes turned to the half-and-half boy that was standing by the wall. The silenced stretched for a few more moments before,

“What happened to my father?” Todoroki asked.

“Dead, of course.” Said Mastermind, rather matter-of-factly, winking flirtatiously at the boy. Todoroki’s eyes widened a little, but other than that, he kept his expression blank and looked away again.

“How the hell did you get half-and-half to fall for you Deku? And why did you pick him? Wow, your standards are really low hun?” Bakugou said, his voice challenging. Mastermind turned red and lunged forward, the only thing keeping him from tearing the blonde’s throat was the capture weapon wrapped around his limbs.

“Say that again you bitch!” Mastermind growled.

“What did you say Deku?” Bakugou lunged forward, Aizawa looking like he was ready to drop right then and there and let the rivals tear themselves apart. During their struggle, they knocked into Aoyama, who happened to be holding a bottle of glitter, and spilled it all over Mina and Uraraka, narrowly missing Hagakure. The two glitter-fied girls startled and started running, their classmates stepping out of the way to avoid getting glitter on them. In their scramble, Uraraka managed to touch multiple things, including a lamp, papers, part of a couch, and Jirou and Kirishima, who couldn’t get out of the way in time. The girls soon resolved to try to get Hagakure glittery, and the invisible girl bribed Sero with marshmallows and a bar of mint chocolate to tape her to the ceiling. Seeing this play out, Satou offered Sero some of his famous baked goods for a one-way trip to the ceiling. Sero joined them after almost getting hit a couch cushion doing 5 g’s in the living room. Tsu  jumped out of the way of the lamp, sticking to the wall and desperately trying to disappear, but failing and instead turning her skin into a type of cracked fever-dream to anyone who looked at her. Tokayami had called upon Dark Shadow and had started studying something in a leather-bound book he pulled from somewhere. It was hard to tell, but he seemed to be reading an exorcism coupled with a Shakespearean play. Seemingly overwhelmed with true chaos around him, Viridian made himself as small as possible and snuck over to Kaminari.

“Hiinmydimentionyouaremyboyfriendcanihidebehindyouthanks.” And clung onto the electric blondes shirt. It was at that moment that Shinsou decided to walk into the dorms. (Aizawa had missed their training session and he wanted to find out what happened this time.) He stopped short at the scene in front of him, particularly the other boy clinging onto his boyfriend’s shirt. After blinking a few times, he resigned himself to his glittery, chaotic fate.

Chapter Text

Clouds smiled. Her experiment was working well. The sheer amount of chaos produced was making up for all the energy she had spent on creatingI s this conversion. (Though she had employed some other minor gods who wanted a boost, but she would never admit it.) She was shifting things around when her hand slipped and a few her tools fell to the pocket below. Shoot. That's not good. Well, things happen. I guess this will help push things along at least.

——

After the chaos had died down, Shinsou had been assured that his boyfriend was not dating anyone else, people were removed from the ceiling, glitter was cleaned up, (sorta), Mastermind and Bakugou were placed on different sides of the room, Aizawa got coffee, and they prevented Nezu Deku and Cheat Code from taking over the U.N, they decided to start figuring out a way to get the Midoriyas home. They talked for a few hours, debating different possibilities, but they yielded no concrete results. They all decided to call it a night and head to bed, the copies getting their own rooms and Mastermind going to a secure location on the main campus, just in case.

------

The next day, Midoriya was out jogging, trying to put together his thoughts from last night when he tripped over something, landing on his hands roughly and sraping them.

“Shit.” he said, looking over to see what he tripped on. To his surprise he found a pair of scissors and what looked to be a tube of glue. The strangest part though, was that they seemed to be glowing a strange white-blue. He quickly picked himself off the pavement and made his way towards the objects and poked the scissors, which were embedded in the pavement, point down, spiderweb cracks in the concrete. Midoriya tugged on the scissors, dislodging them from the concrete and falling on his butt while doing so.

Making his way back towards the dorms, he wondered about where the objects came from. Was it even safe to touch them? Well, he seemed fine, so he assumed that they were. Getting into the dorms, he saw that most of the inhabitants had mostly calmed down from the day before. Deku was cooking in the kitchen, talking to Hagakure and Tokayami about stealth and underground heroes. Viridian was sitting on the couch with most of the Bakusquad except for Bakugou himself, and they were talking to the shy vigilante, trying to get him to tell them stories about being a vigilante, and there was a note on the table from Cheat Code, saying he was going to the support labs to meet Mei. Midoriya shivered at thought, remembering what happened with Nedzu the day before. Mastermind was nowhere to be seen, but Midoriya figured that the teachers probably wouldn’t let him get close to the other students. Midoriya sighed as he made his way to the counter, and flopped down in a chair. Deku, Tokayami and Hagakure turned towards the noise.

“Wow Midoriya, was your run really that bad? Or did you fight Bakugou again?” Hagakure said, jokingly. Midoriya sighed again.

“I found these on my run.” he said, putting the scissors and the glue on the table. The three people leaned in close, inspecting the items.

“I’ve never seen anything like this, we should probably tell Aizawa-sensei about them.”

“You’re right, those could be quirk-touched with something dangerous.” Hagakure agreed, and Tokoyami muttered something about Satan and spells. It was then that the other people in the room noticed them, and came over.

“Wow, what are those? They look weird!” Kaminari said, reaching for the scissors.

“We don’t know, we were planning on giving them to Aizawa-sensei, since they could be dangerous,” said Midoriya.

“Hm.” Kaminari said, picking up the scissors and looking them over. “They look like regular scissors to me, but I’m not as smart as you guys, so I trust you. Let’s go get sensei.” Kaminari also picked up the tube of glue and started making his way to the stairs. But, they should have known better than to let Kaminari handle the potentially volatile objects of unknown origin, but it was the morning, so it slipped their minds.

So did Kaminari.

He was wearing socks, and as he stepped towards the elevator, he tripped over his own feet and landed on his face, the objects flying into the air. The glue landed safely on the ground, unharmed. The scissors, on the other hand, created an ark in the air, before seemingly snagging on thin air. If Hagakure wasn’t behind them, they would have guessed that she got hit with them. They all stared at the pair of sharp scissors that were hanging in the air.

“What the hell?” Sreo said, looking dumbfounded at the strange phenomena.

“Do we try to pull it or…?” Mina squeaked. Deku shrugged.

“Sure, I’ve done dumber.” The others shot him a worried look but then remembered that this was a Midoriya they were talking about, of course he’s done dumber. Deku walked up to the hanging scissors, reaching over and pulling them. When they wouldn’t budge, he tried pulling them down. The resounding sound was like nails on a chalkboard times 100. Everyone fell to their knees, the sound piercing their eardrums. Deku quickly stopped pulling down, and the sound stopped.

“What the,” Sero panted “hell was that?”

“Guys..” Kirishima said, awe in his voice. “Look…” the others looked up, and in front of them, there seemed to be a tear. A tear in thin air. The edges were the same strange glowing shade as the scissors that had cut them, strings of the stuff were hanging on the outside, moved by a nonexistent wind. On the other side of the tear, there were ruins.

“I think we need Aizawa-sensei.” Kaminari said.

“You think?” Jirou said blandly.

------

“So, let me get this straight.” Aizawa said. “You found a strange object that seemed to be quirk touched, and could be used as a weapon, brought it into the dorms, and you let Kaminari handle it, resulting in a phenomena that you had never seen before. Then you decided to touch it again. Which created this .” He finished by gesturing to the hole in the air.

“Yep.” Deku said. “That’s about it.” Aizawa sighed, rubbing his eyes. The other Midoriyas as well as the rest of the class had gathered in the living room, looking at the tear.

“Okay, this is what’s going to happen. I’m going to confiscate these,” Aizawa grabbed the scissors and the glue, “and under no circumstances will anyone go near this thing until we figure out how to close it. Understood?” He glared at the class, quirk flashing. The class nodded eagerly and all dispersed to do what they always do.

------

It was the dead of night, but there were people in the living space. Not that they were supposed to be there, but they were anyway. Tokoyami, Mina, Momo, Midoriya, Jirou, Deku, Viridian, Kamiari, Cheat Code, and Shinsou were all near the portal, looking at each other.

“Well, it seems we all had the same idea.” Momo said. The others were looking a little guilty.

“So, we’re doing this right?” Cheat Code was bouncing on the balls of his feet in excitement. The others looked around for someone to take charge.

“It seems dangerous…” Mina said, glancing at the ruins on the other side of the rip. Then, they heard noise coming from the window. They all turned to see the outline of a person by the window. The person opened the window and out stepped Mastermind. The other occupants of the room tensed.

“How did you get out?” Kaminari squeaked.

“Oh please.” Mastermind said. “I was trapped in Tartarus before I came here. UA has nothing on me.” When the other students in the room didn’t relax at this revelation, Mastermind continued, “relax, I’m just as curious as you all are to see what’s on the other side of that thing.” the others seemed to relax a bit, but kept their guard up.

“So, I guess we should get going then,” said Jirou. The others nodded, getting ready to go through.

“Here goes nothing…” Muttered Tokayami.

They stepped through the rip.

Chapter Text

The air smelled like smoke. That was the first thing that Cheat Code noticed when they stepped through the rip in the air, trying not to touch the small strings on the edge. Smog covered the sun so that the world was shrouded in darkness. Parts of destroyed buildings littered the ground, with small parts of the structure still standing. The most eerie part though, was the silence. It was deafening. Not a bird flew or an insect buzzed. The only sound was the wind whistling among the rubble.

“What… what happened here?”  Mina said, trembling and turning towards the Midoriyas. “Is this any of your worlds?” They were just as stunned as the rest of the group.

“No… I’ve never seen anything like this.” said Deku.

“Me neither.” said Mastermind. The other agreed as well. Suddenly, a large roar cut through the air, and the flapping of wings filled the air. Frantically looking around, Shinsou spotted something in the distance. It was beige in color, with large, leathery wings and a humanoid body. Some of the other people recognised it.

“Nomu!” Deku yelled. “Take cover!” The rest of the group scrambled to find hiding places in the ruins as the hulking passed over their heads, eyes scanning the ground. It didn’t seem to notice the portal though, and, not finding what it was looking for, moved on its way. All of them let out a relieved breath that they didn’t know they had been holding.

“We need to go back.” said Momo. “It's too dangerous to stay here. Then, when we get back, we need to figure out a way to close the portal.” The others nodded in agreement. If there was a Nomu, it meant the LOV was nearby, which was not good. Suddenly, a voice sounded from the mist.

“What the fuck?” Turning, they saw a group of cloaked figures standing in front of them. The most disturbing part by far though, was that the voice who had spoken seemed familiar.

“Bakugou? What are you doing here?” Said Kaminari. One of the hooded figures threw back his hood, revealing that it was indeed their explosive classmate. He seemed different though. There was a large jagged scar across his entire face, and his hair was a lot shorter than it was in their world, and jaggedly cut.

“I should be asking the questions here, asshole.” the Bakugou said, “How did you get their blood Toga? And I thought that you could only transform into one person at a time. How are you doing this?”  sparks flew from his hands as the not-Bakugou snarled.

“What? Toga? We’re not Toga!” Midoriya said. Then, another one of the cloaked figures spoke up.

“Well, one of you has to be Toga, because I’m right here.” This voice was female, and a pair of familiar hands pushed down their hood, revealing the face of Mina.

“Me too.” another said, revealing themselves to be Jirou. The others also pushed their hoods down, showing the faces of Uraraka, Kirishima, and Tsu and a girl who they had never seen before. They all looked similar to their classmates, but they were different. They seemed… older. More tired, like they had seen so much.

“Whoa.” Their Mina said. “Now I understand why you were weirded out, Midoriya. Seeing another version of yourself is weird .” Midoriya simply nodded and left it at that.

“Well, we should have expected this, we did travel to a different dimension, after all. It would make sense that there would be copies of us if there were copies of Midoriya. It’s only logical.” Momo said, bowing politely. “I apologize if we startled you, we did not mean to cause you any distress. We were just going to go back to where we came from.” Other versions of their classmates seemed shocked for a second before,

“Wait, did you say another dimension? Is that why Shigaraki looks so different?” Urarka asked.

“Shigaraki? Where?” said Cheat Code, looking around frantically.

“She means you, stupid.” Other-Bakugou said.

“M-me? But my name is Midoriya!” Cheat Code squeaked.

“Um, no, I’m pretty sure that your name is Izuku Shigaraki. Short, green hair, freckles, it all checks out.” Other-Kirishima said, shifting uncomfortably.

“Well, I think that it’s obvious that we are not your Izuku, as we all have the last name Midoriya, but tell us more about your version.” said Mastermind, a sly grin on his face.

“Maybe later, it’s not safe out here in the open.” said Other-Jirou. “We need to find shelter first.”

“Good idea.” said Other-Mina.

“We really should get going-” said Mina. “We can come back later, the portal is right there after all”  the pink girl pointed towards the rip in the air. Other-Tsu turned towards the strange phenomena.

“Is that how you got here? Kero ” Kaminari nodded.

“I accidentally dropped some magic scissors… It’s a long story.” the blond said.

“Speaking of, do you think we can use the glue to fix the rip?” Shinsou asked.

“Hmmm, that's a good idea Shinsou, we should try that when we get back.” said Deku. They were gathering themselves to head back when a deafening screech filled the air.

“Shit!” Other-Bakugou said, “Winged Nomu! Take cover!” the others scrambled for cover, the unfamiliar girl seeming to burst into a flock of birds before disappearing. The others were still scrambling when a flock of the winged Nomu, similar to the one they had seen earlier, landed in a circle around them.

“Shit.” Kirishima said, hardening his arms. The others also got into a battle stance, with the ones not from that dimension looking a little strange in their pajamas. Suddenly, a voice pierced the deafening silence.

“Well, well, well, it looks like you finally found the courage to show your face again, Bakugou . Back for another scar? That one looks good on you, your haircut is nice too.” they all turned towards the voice as someone slid off the back of one of the Nomu. They were wearing a black trench coat with a dark green vest and white undershirt. There were white gloves on their hands and a blood red tie to complete the look. The most striking part was that the person wearing these clothes was their very bone-breaker, Izuku Midoriya. Or, as they knew him in this world, Izuku Shigaraki.

“Shit.” said Other-Bakugou.

-----

“Well, what do we have here? It seems like… me? But that can't be right, I’m right here.” The smooth voice in which Shigaraki talked sent a shiver down the spine of everyone that heard it.

“W-well, we are-'' Cheat Code began, but was interrupted by Mastermind.

“We are from another dimension. We came to yours after an idiot had an accident. We were planning to leave until we met them.” He gestured towards the cloaked copies. “I go by Mastermind in my world. I see that you are a villain as well, perhaps we can discuss strategy?...”

The others were confused, but soon noticed something. Mastermind had something behind his back. It was a tube of glue. The tube of glue that Aizawa had confiscated that day. Of course he thought ahead and stole it. The other Midoryias thought. He is us, after all. As Mastermind distracted Shigaraki, the Midoriyas passed the glue behind their backs until it reached Viridian, who started squeezing out the glittering purple and blue slime from the tube, spreading it over the edge of the tear.

As he spread it across, the strings that were hanging off the edge started stretching and stitching the edges together, closing the portal. Soon, the portal was almost closed. Glancing back, Mastermind noticed this as well, slipping his hand into his pockets again, and drawing out a familiar pair of scissors. Quickly, a plan started forming in all of the Midoriya's minds simultaneously. Getting in place, Mastermind gave the signal, and they all moved

----

Mastermind cut himself off in mid sentence, lunging forward towards Shigaraki, faking out an attack, causing the other boy to lurch back. At the same time, Deku moved towards where Mastermind had dropped the scissors, aiming to open another portal. Sensing what was going on, the members of class 1-A and the apocalypse versions moved to protect the green haired boy from the Nomus that were surrounding them.

Bakugou blasting the creatures back, with Kirishima supporting in perfect symphony, Dark Shadow and Tokayami taking advantage of the dark of the smoke and going all out on the hulking beasts. Shinsou and Kaminari work in tandem as well by electrifying the capture weapon that Shinsou had had the hindsight to bring and wrapping it around the leathery- skinned Nomu. Deku struggled a bit more with the scissors before he felt them snag on thin air. Trumphanly, he cut down until he remembered.

----

A screech cut through the air as everyone faltered and Deku finished cutting. Gathering their wits and knocking out a few more dazed nomus, they scrambled towards the rip, Viridian ready with the glue to close the gap. A roar of outrage sounded from Shigaraki’s direction, where Mastermind had knocked him down. The first one through the tear, Mina landed in a grassy field, the others tumbling behind her. Viridian scrambled as claws reached for them from across the seams, and they could spot six cloaked figures slipping away into the dark. The threads knitting together was strange to watch, but also satisfying. Turning, the group studied their surroundings. They were back at UA, the building shining in the sun.

“What the hell?” a raspy voice sounded, and, turning, the group saw a strange sight.

Chapter Text

The crew had landed at what seemed to be the dorms again, only outside, but the strangest part were its inhabitants. They were all villains. Well, they seemed to be villains at least. Most of them had recognised Shigraki and Toga on sight, the others took a little longer. Immediately, all of the occupants got into fighting stances except for Mastermind, who looked confused. Upon closer inspection though, the villains seemed to be a lot better off than they were in their world, cleaner and more fit.

“How did you get here, Shigaraki? What was that sound?” What they recognised as the Shigaraki copy said. “How did you clone yourself?”

“Shigaraki again?” muttered Mastermind, a bit of distaste in his voice.

“We can explain! We are actually from another dimension and we got dropped here! We don’t actually have any connection to whoever you think we are!” explained Deku, hands waving in front of him. The people in the room paused for a moment, as if contemplating their words.

“Prove it.” one of them said, a boy with red hair, blue eyes, and familiar blue fire said.

“How the hell are we supposed to prove that we are from another dimension?” Mastermind spoke up.

“He has a good point…” the Toga version said, her buns neat.

“We should get Chizume-sensei,” said a short red-haired girl with pigtails, which some of the Midoriyas recognised as La Brava. The person next to her nodded, and quickly left.

“So… if you guys aren’t from this dimension, where are you from?” the Spinner counterpart asked.

“Well, in my dimension, I’m a hero.” Midoriya said.

“Me too, but I don’t have a quirk.” said Deku. Shigaraki snorted.

“Isn't that ironic, the most terrifying villain on this side of Japan is a hero in two separate dimensions. What about the rest of you then?” The others also turned to the remaining Midoriyas.

“Well, I’m a support student.” Cheat Code said. “And Viridian here is a vigilante.” he gestured to the shortest of them.

“And I’m just a villain, albeit probably smarter than whatever your version can cook up.” Mastermind spoke, poison dripping into his voice.

“Ohh, is someone jealous of the other villain Midos?” Mina said, teasingly. Mastermind sent her a glare but it didn’t deter the gossip of class 1-A. “Anyway, if Mido is a villain here too, then what are you all doing here? Isn’t this UA?” the pink-skinned girl asked, turning back to the not-villains.

“It is, but I don’t understand the question, we’re hero students, why wouldn’t we be here?” the Magne version said. The visitors brains all paused for a second before,

“If you guys are heroes, then what are we…?” Kaminari said, his voice quiet.

“Well, you are all members of the League of Villains, who tried to attack us multiple times.” said a brown haired teen who, when he spoke, they recognised as Mr. Compress. The magician was twirling one of his marbles in his hand. The rest of the visitors who were not a Midoriya were floored.

“What?” Jirou said.

“I mean, it makes sense, if they’re heroes, then it is only logical that we were villains. Think about it.” Momo said. Unfortunately, it made sense, and the visitors decided to settle down on the grass. The reversed villains also settled down, relaxing onto the porch. Then, a tall man with a katana strapped across his back came through the door, the girl that left before right behind him.

“What the hell is going on here?” the man's gravely voice said. The voice sounded familiar to a few of the Miodoriyas, who recognised it.

Stain replaced Aizawa-sensei?” Midoriya muttered.

“This is so weird.” Deku said.

“These are apparently dimension travelers, Chizome-sensei. They say that they are from a dimension that they are heroes.” a large teen that they recognized as Magne said, a bowl of cereal in hand.

“Wow, I leave for a few minutes and I miss everything, don’t I?” the girl that left spoke up. Mastermind looked in her direction.

“There is one strange thing though,” he started, “I know most of the villains, at least from my world, and you match the description of none of them, so who are you?” The others also look to the girl and realise that they don't recognise her either.

“Oh, my name is Kairie Urna, my quirk is Flock.” the hero student said, sitting down.

“Hey, isn't she the girl that was in that apocalypse dimension?” Cheat Code pointed out.

“I think so…” Viridian said.

“Apocalypse dimension?” not-Compress asked.

“The dimension we were in before. The reason that we were in such a hurry.” Kaminari explained.

“Awful place.” Mina agreed.

“So what will you do now?” not-Dabi asked.

“Well, I guess we should move on to the next dimension, I guess.” Momo said. Not-Stain nodded in agreement.

“That’s probably the best thing for everyone in this scenario,” he agreed. Deku held up the scissors.

“In that case, you should cover your ears.” Deku said. Already having learned their lesson, the travelers covered their ears and urged the residents to do so as well. After checking that everyone was good and donning a pair of headphones from Momo, Deku held up the scissors once again.

Ripping open another hole, the travelers said their goodbyes and hopped through the portal to a landscape that seemed almost the same except for the fact that it was nighttime. Taking out the tube of glue, Viridian glued over the rip, and they turned around and prepared to face another universe of challenges.

——-

In other news, Clouds was freaking out a little. They were hopping around and she couldn’t stop them. Eventually they would move somewhere she couldn’t follow. She needed to do something, and fast. Reaching into the fabric of realities, she pulled some strings, shifting the plates around the realities and aligning the right dimensions to get them back to where she wanted them to be. But, unbeknownst to the goddess, the shifting caused a part of the palace to bleed into the dimension below.

Chapter Text

The crew stumbled into a park, one that the Midoriyas recognised as one that was near their old school, Aldera Junior High.

“Uh, this place again?” Mastermind said.

“Bad memories?” Shinsou asked.

“You have no idea.” It was Viridian who spoke up this time.

“No kidding,” muttered Cheat Code. no one said anything further, but the heavy silence left some implications. Then, in the distance, they heard a yell. turning , they rushed over to the sound. As they got closer, Deku was in the lead. Suddenly, the boy stopped, with Viridian and Shinsou crashing into his back and falling on their asses.

“What-” began Shinsou, rubbing his head as the others caught up. Looking around, he saw what Deku had seen. His old childhood bullies from middle school, along with and…a younger version of himself. Frig.

“This day just keeps getting better and better…” muttered Mastermind.

“This is really trippy…” said Shinsou, watching his other. They watched the other Shinsou get shoved down, a familiar notebook falling out of his pocket. One of the bullies, presumably the leader, picked it up and leafed through it, the smirk on his face slowly falling into a look of horror. The group was too far away to hear what was going on, but as the other Shinsou said something, the bullies backed off and ran away, leaving the Shinsou alone. After a few minutes, someone else walked up to the purple-haired boy. They were all surprised by what they saw.

“Of course.” muttered Mastermind. In front of them was yet another Midoriya.

“He looks even younger than me…” said Viridian.

“Holy cow, how many of you are there?” Joked Kaminari. They watched as the new Midoriya and the other Shinsou talked before starting to leave.

“We have to catch up to them!” said Deku, moving forward.

“Are you sure that that's a good idea?” said Viridian, “the other versions we met weren’t necessarily the nicest people…”

“Normally I would say the same thing, but this version looked young, maybe we can help him before he takes the wrong path.” the others paused to take in the older boy’s words. Momo sighed.

“Okay, let's do it.” The crew walked over to the pair, careful not to scare them.

“Um, hi?” said Shinsou, placing his hand on his other’s shoulder. The younger turned in surprise, and the two looked at each other for a long moment before,

“Is this a joke?” said the younger, who seemed like he was in between laughing and passing out.

“That's the same thing I thought when this all started.” the elder responded, the same amount of exhaustion seeping into his voice. Meanwhile, the newest Midoriya was staring at the new arrivals, wondering what the hell he did in a past life to deserve this.

“Okay, this is how this works.” started Deku, “we are you, but from different dimensions. My hero name is Deku, the one in the hoodie is the vigilante Viridian, we have support student Cheat Code, and villain Mastermind. Oh, and I guess the other Deku. He’s the only one that has a quirk. So…. any questions?” Mastermind facepalmed.

“Um…” the latest Midoriya seemed at a loss for words. “Who are all these other people…?”

“Oh, right.” said Cheat Code. “These are some people from one of the dimensions that we landed in. Just checking, you aren’t a villain or planning to become one, right?” The support student finished his ramble on a hopeful note. The youngest Midoriya looked at the others for a moment. Then, his face contorted into a realization.

“Wait, you mean that all of us except one don’t have a quirk? And I still became a hero? I told you we could do it, Shinsou!” the Midoriya said, turning to his partner. The younger insomniac looked at his older version.

“Do I become a hero too?” he asked.

“It took a lot of hard work, and some help, but yah, we did it eventually. Though, it looks like you are getting a head start in that department.” the older Shinsou replied, turning to the new Midoriya. The younger blushed a bit, muttering about it was nothing and his quirk was perfect.

“Anyways, does that mean that you are trying for the hero course?” Viridian asked shyly.”

“Yep! We’re trying to be a new kind of hero though.” said the middle schooler.

“Oh, and what type might that be?” asked Mastermind, a smirk on his face.

“Well, instead of being loved by civilians, we are going to be feared by villains!” answered the shorter boy, way too enthusiastically for the words that came out of his mouth. The others seemed shocked by this admission, but decided that all Midos were a bit strange and left it at that.

“Well-” began Mastermind, before there was a strange sound, similar to a storm rolling in, but instead of thunder, it was the sound of bells. The sky started to darken and familiar fog began to pool around their feet.

“Oh no.” said Cheat Code.

“Not this again!” Viridian cried as the ground disappeared and they started falling.

-----

The group continued falling until they hit a hard floor, falling in a pile similar to the way the Midos had first appeared.

“That was not any less fun the second time…” grumbled Mastermind as they untangled themselves and took in their surroundings. It was a grand palace, made of ghostly white marble engraved with cloud patterns. Mina walked over to a window, looking outside.

“Guys…” she whispered, uncharastically quiet, “I don’t think we’re in Japan anymore…” the rest of the group rushed over to the window, looking out. The castle was suspended in midair, a sheet of white and blue fire covering it in a spherical shape. Through the fire, they could faintly see five planets orbiting the castle… sun? Who knows. Their wonder was broken though, when a voice cut through the din.

“Well, you aren’t supposed to be here.”

once when I was writing, I accidentally wrote Mastermaid instead of Mastermind. It made me giggle, so I'm putting in here.
I'll try to update soon...

No promises.

Chapter Text

“Well, you aren’t supposed to be here.”

At the sound of the voice, all of the people in the hall turned towards it, revealing a tall person standing at the end of the hall. The person had short, dark brown hair, eyes of the same shade. They were wearing a green hoodie with cat ears and a pair of beige shorts. They had their hands on their hips, a slight frown on their face.

“How did you even get here? I thought that Clouds had left you in cannon…wait,” the person’s eyes went to the scissors in Mastermind's hand, and their eyes traveled over the group, landing on each Midoriya individually. Their eyes narrowed as they counted the green heads of hair.

“Weren't there supposed to be five of you? And why are there two Shinsous and one who looks younger… oh, dangint Clouds!” The person then turned on their heel and prepared to storm off before remembering that there were other people and turned back.

“Follow me, please. I will get you all home, I just need to talk with someone and everything will go back to normal.” They then proceeded to turn and walk down the hall at a brisk pace. The other teens scrambled to follow them, jogging to keep up.

“Wait, wait. Who even are you. There is no reason for us to be following you.” Mastermind stopped, making the person stop as well. Turning, the figure had a look on their face that radiated power.

“Oh, apologies. It was rude to not introduce myself. My name is Fandom_Compass, but you can just call me Compass, I prefer it. As for who I am, I am a god. I recently got an offer to build some power for a favor, and that’s how this whole mess started. You were supposed to stay where you were for a few weeks, then be sent back. Somehow, you ended up in the possession of editing tools, and now you’re here. Good thing too, if you wandered around too much, you could have ended up in the wrong places. Like the smut, or, cannon forbid, Wattpad . No, that wouldn't do at all! Good thing I found you when I did, or there might be an even bigger problem.” The group was confused by half of what just came out of the person’s mouth, but they decided that if they hadn’t hurt them yet, they were probably safe.

The group walked through giant corridors, some made of marble, others of black onyx, some had wooden walls and arches that reached into the sky. They passed open-air gardens and navigated a dizzying maze of staircases that moved and shifted. All around them there were people, or what seemed like it. There were some that looked almost normal, but there were also others that were wolves, dragons, and mice the size of people. There were even some objects hopping around, and floating logos.

It was overwhelming, but no one paid them much attention, too busy doing their own things, sans some of them greeting their guide. Some were having heated discussions about a variety of subjects. Some were reading large volumes of something , others were scribbling at fast paces on seemingly endless notebooks.

Others were venting, ranting about one thing or other. They even caught glimpses of artists drawing in various mediums. Passing through a section that seemed to be made entirely of paper and walls of text, so many people bustling around, it was almost impossible to keep track of everyone.

They entered an empty hall, no lights hung, and the only source of light was the light from the fire outside through the windows. At the end of the hall was a large door that seemed to be made completely of clouds. Compass confidently walked up to the door, knocking three times in quick succession, and the clouds seemed to clear, leaving an open doorway. The parted clouds revealed a large, circular chamber made of gleaming white marble and pearl.

Five large columns of green smoke rose into the sky, distorting to become shapes that seemed eerily familiar.

The walls were carved into murals of familiar scenes from their own universes, such as Deku at the provisional license exam, Mastermind holding a knife to Uraraka’s throat, Chat Code typing on a computer, hacking the USJ, and a scene that Viridian didn’t recognize, with him standing over a man, a screwdriver in his hand. Other, smaller columns also resided around the room, but the five tallest were placed in a circle around a large… desk?

The desk was simple, made of gleaming white wood. Behind it was a woman. She had long blue and black hair, a purple bow floating on top of her head, waving in a nonexistent wind. She had a concentrated look on her face, scribbling on a piece of paper, oblivious to the world around her. To the Midoriyas she seemed to be familiar… but they couldn’t quite put their fingers on it...

“Ahem.” Compass tried, walking forward. The woman did not look up.

Ahem. ” They tried again. Sighing, Compass took a deep breath.

“Clouds!” the woman at the desk startled, jumping a little and dropping her pencil.

“Compass! You scared me!” the woman exclaimed. “Do you need something?”

“Yes, actually. We have a problem.” their guide stepped to the side, revealing the group of dimension hoppers behind them. Clouds’ eyes widened, taking in the group.

“Oh.. right. I forgot to tell you that happened. My bad.” Compass sighed with an intensity that could rival Aizawa-sensei, pinching the bridge of their nose.

“You forgot to tell me that you dropped editing tools into a story realm. Of course you did. Well, I was planning on sending them back, I just thought you should know.” the woman had at least enough dignity to look embarrassed at the proclamation that she had messed up.

“That’s good. The levels are getting full anyway, and I’ll need to sweep up the unauthorized extra matter that they tracked in. It’s just too much work to keep them together. Paperwork is going to be a pain…” the woman seemed to then forget that they were there, turning back to her paper.

“She does that,” Compass addressed the group. “Let’s get you all back home, shall we?” The entire group was tired and sore, so they quickly agreed.

“Aizawa-sensei is going to kill us when we go back, right?”

“Definitely.”

“Oh, 100%.”

“Is that even a question?”

Notes:

Can you tell that I had fun with the backgrounds?

Anyway, there will be an epilogue chapter, but that will be the end! I'm kind of sad to end it, but this story is something that I really enjoyed, and I hope that everyone else did too!

Chapter 10: Epilogue: For the want of an end

We get to see how our boys are doing.

Chapter Text

Mastermind grinned as he heard the sounds of an approaching scuffle. Shouts echoed across the halls of Tartarus as the League of Villains tore the place apart, looking for their targets. As he waited, he thought back to when he had met the other versions of himself. He thought of Midoriya, Deku and Viridian, who were heroes in their own right. Cheat Code, who was still helping people in the support course. And Shadows too. That kid was going to go far. Mastermind thought about how his life could have been different if he had just taken another path. Did he want to take a different path? Mastermind had been thinking about it for a long time after he was dropped back into his cell by a hoodie-wearing god. The guards seemed even more unsettled with his sudden silence as he pondered the events of the past hours. Suddenly, the door broke open with a bang , revealing his boyfriend in all his half-and-half glory. Getting up from his bed, he went up to give him a big kiss. Nah, I think that I like the way that I am. He thought.

--------

Viridian hopped across the rooftops, blood staining the fabric of his hoodie. His hands were crusty, the blood having dried, as he sped towards his apartment.

Slipping into his room, he ran to the bathroom, locking the door, not caring how much noise he made. He sat on the cold tiles, trembling in fear, staring at his hands. What had he done? He- he had just killed someone! He was a villain. Just like Mastermind.

Viridian’s mind flashed to the older boy’s face. The long hair, orange jumpsuit, and cruel smile. Viridian shivered at the memory. He didn’t want to be like him! Mastermind did so many awful things… and now you did too. Whispered the traitorous voice in his head. Viridian shivered in fear. He didn’t want to go to jail. What would his mom think? Oh Kami, his mom. Didn’t Mastermind say that his mom had ratted him out? Was his mom going to turn him over to the police?

Viridian trembled in fear, tears starting to drip down his face. What was he going to do? Should he run away? Turn himself in? A knock on the door shook him out of his thoughts.

“Izuku? Are you okay?” It was his mother. Shoot.

----------

Viridian was sitting on the couch, a blanket over his shoulders and a cup of warm milk in his hand. He was sitting across from his mother and had just finished explaining what happened, when a knock sounded from the door. Getting up, his mother gestured that she would get it. Shivering, he wrapped himself further into the blanket.

“Izuku? I think there’s someone here to see you…” his mother said. Turning, Viridian came face to face with the person that he least wanted to see.

“It’s nice to meet you, Izuku Midoriya.” said Eraserhead.

-----------

Cheat Code yawned, stretching and closing his laptop. He had been working on the code for the mechanical spiders for a while, and the sky was already dark. His girlfriend, Mei, was working on another spider, a small army already built. Seeing that Mei was busy, he let his mind wandrer.

He had done some research, but found no evidence that what he had experienced was even possible. Gods, goddesses, spontaneous creation, the multiverse, it all seemed very strange and far away. Cheat Code searched for a way to talk to the God in the green hoodie again, but never found one. Sighing, he thought of the other Midoriya's that he met. Deku, he seemed so brave all the time. Cheat Code hoped that he could do something like that someday. Viridian, he was sweet, even if he was a little shy. Shadows, well, he seemed like a fellow agent of chaos. Mastermind… Cheat Code pushed him out of his mind. He didn’t want to think about what he had done in another world, another life. Then there was Mido. He had a quirk. A perfect, heroic quirk. He had worked his ass off, getting to where he was, and knowing that there was a chance that it could have just fallen into his lap? It made him so… angry. And scared. Scared that his anger is what led Mastermind down his path. So he pushed any thought of the others out of his head. He was going to turn back to his computer when suddenly, the power went out.

“What the heck…?”

----------------

Deku was sitting on the couch, his arm around his girlfriend, Ochako. She was sleeping, her chest rising and falling. He was happy. He was a hero, he had great friends, and a wonderful girlfriend. Nevertheless, he still found his mind wandering. He remembered his trip into the different universes so vividly, but it still took him a long time to convince himself that it wasn’t a complete dream. The memory of the other versions of himself still haunted him a little. Viridian seemed nice enough, though he also seemed a little depressed. Cheat Code was nice as well, but Deku couldn’t help but notice the looks that the younger boy sent him on occasion. Deku knew that Cheat Code also wanted to be a hero, but never got the chance, so he understood why the support student would harbor resentment towards him. Shadows seemed decent enough, even if he was a little terrifying.

And then there was Mastermind. Deku didn’t want to admit it, but the villain scared him. A lot. The ruthlessness and confidence in which he carried himself was terrifying. And it also made him ache, deep inside him. Deku knew that being a villain was wrong, and he wouldn’t trade his life for anything, but there was something about the way that Mastermind acted that… drew him in. Shaking his head, he glanced back at his girlfriend, giving a small smile and dispelling the thoughts of the villain. He was fine just the way he was, thank you very much.

----------------

Shadow yawned, his eyes stinging a little from watching the cameras for too long. Grinning, he pulled out his notebook, opening it to his newest entry, Lemilloin. He had an intangibility quirk that was absolutely fascinating to Shadow. There were so many ways to use a quirk like his, and Shadow had so many questions. His hands were itching to write more about him. He wondered if this was how the others felt when they did analysis. Smiling lightly at the memory of the other alternates were doing well. Maybe Mastermind had broken out of prison already. Maybe Viridian was a hero now. He smiled at the memory of the others. He remembered when Deku had first introduced himself. It seemed like a faraway dream, but he knew now that he could become a hero without a quirk. Take that All Might!

Looking up, he saw that Shinsou, the other half of the Shadows, and Jirou, who they had made an alliance with, entered the apartment.

“Hey Zu, wacha’ working on?” asked the other Shadow, removing his headgear.

“Just working on the entry for Lemmillion, how about you guys?”

“Nothing much, just handing out the daily dose of trauma,” Shinsou replied, falling back onto the couch with a wicked grin.

In the space between stories, hidden away in the blank spaces in between lines and letters, a woman rested on a throne. She rested, body still and silent, but only sleeping. As she dreamt, words slipped past her lips, forming a poem that echoed across the silent hall.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost

For want of a shoe the horse was lost

For want of a horse the rider was lost

For want of a rider the message was lost

For want of a message the battle was lost

For want of a battle the kingdom was lost

And all for the want, of a horseshoe nail.
