[stuh-kas-tik] [reh-zuh-nuhns] A scientific phenomenon where a signal that is normally too weak to be detected by a sensor can be improved by adding wide band noise before reaching the receiver. The frequencies in the noise corresponding to the original signal's frequencies will resonate with each other - amplifying the original signal - while the rest of the white noise can be ignored by the receiver, thereby increasing the signal to noise ratio of the original signal.
