Marinette couldn’t describe the way she felt, if someone asked. Not in one word, at least.
Happy?
Happy that walking the corridors of the Temple she no longer had to walk the streets of the city she had grown up in. Happy that despite the fact she may not have yet found peace, but was in a peaceful place, where the cool fresh air sounded with the swish of plants and the flow of water.
Mortified?
Mortified she would never return, save the memories which would come flooding back and consume her. See the accusing eyes of everyone she had trusted. The plan she had to carry out that would destroy her relationships with everyone close to her. It had worked, but the cost...
Conflicted?
Conflicted over what she wanted . It all to be over? It was. But did a part of her miss the action? Missing was the wrong word. Wishing she could immerse herself in something that didn’t require thought.
At least she no longer walked the corridors looking shellshocked. You could have called that the equivalent of what she had been through. At least she no longer jumped at the slightest sound she could not recognise or place, reaching for a weapon she would wish to never hold again. But the instinct was still there.
At least she hoped with her entire being she would never wear the red suit again.
But there would come a time when Ladybug would be needed again and there was no one quite skilled enough to match her ability.
The rest she longed for would come, though.
She would find solace.
