“Okay, we’ll give you one chance. One chance, and that’s all. One chance to fix all this.”
“And if I fail?” The question wasn’t placed in fear, not quite curiosity, but more mere speculation.
“Then we lose. Humanity loses.” This was accompanied by a shrug, as if it was nothing more than a discussion of what colour to wear, what time to set the alarm.
The alarm for the end of the world.
“No pressure or anything.” A clap on the back, harder than necessary.
“...And you’re sure you can’t help?” One eyebrow raised.
“This was your doing,” came the firm, but sympathetic reply. “You will fix this. Any attempt by us, and no progress will be made. We can’t enter your problems.”
“You said this can work,” her partner carried on. “So you’re getting one chance. If it doesn’t work, we’ll have to try something else. It’s doubtful it’d work, though.”
“I think I can do this.” The man in front of them set his jaw. Ironically, he was more than two feet taller than the two that stood in front of him, yet his face was more fearful than both of them combined, despite them having to look up.

“You’d better be confident,” Chat Noir growled.
Hawkmoth shot him a look, then checked his blade, concealed in his cane. He’d need it.
“You won’t be able to come back.” Ladybug mentioned off-handedly.
“I’ll find Bunnyx. She equally does not need to be there. I can help her escape. We can come back-”
“I can’t hold the portal forever, you know, guys?” Kaalki shouted distantly. “I know I’m, like, a god , but I’m not all-powerful!” They could practically feel the air of irritation she was exuding.
"That's your cue," Ladybug whispered.
“Well, off I go.” Hawkmoth squared his shoulder and walked into the portal.
They waited.
