Crime Fighting Devil and Vampire

Summary:

A Lucifer/Angel crossover. AU Lucifer 5x8 and AU Angel post-NFA. Chloe and Lucifer find themselves working the same case as Angel and Kate Lockley but it's not the first time Lucifer and Angel have met. Multi-chapter story

Notes:

Also posted on FF.net but my account name is different. I wrote this before 5b aired for Lucifer so the Michael stuff is all my AU; he was destroyed but God/Dad is more open with communication and arranges to see is grandson. Dan and Ella know about Lucifer's devil status. Lucifer is vulnerable again. I didn't follow the comic timeline for Angel. Kate got back on the force after the events of NFA in this world, and everyone in the alley lived. Chloe/Lucifer are together. Angel/Cordy stuff is involved.

Chapter Text

Chloe and Lucifer arrived on the scene of their latest homicide. Two bodies with neck wounds and an unknown symbol in blood on their palms. "This symbol looks familiar," Lucifer said as he took his phone out and took pictures. "Not sure exactly where." Lucifer bent over and stared at the neck marks. "Detective," Lucifer whispered. "You're not going to like this."

Chloe looked over at Lucifer curiously. "As opposed to when I like finding dead bodies?"

"The neck marks are consistent with vampire marks. But there are other weapons that would explain it."

Chloe shook her head. "No. No. You sent demons back to hell. There are no vampires."

"There are," Lucifer corrected. "Activity went down when I got here oddly enough, but it had declined anyway after two thousand four. I don't control vampires or every demon."

"What, the terrorist attack? That scared away vampires?" Chloe was still in disbelief, despite talking to the devil.

"That terrorist attack was an apocalypse," Lucifer explained. "You humans will look for any reason to deny evidence of the supernatural despite having churches all over."

Ella and Dan came over to the scene. "The victims have been here for at least twelve hours," Ella said. "I'd say time of death between midnight and one am."

"You checked out the bodies? Apparently Kate Lockley of the Major Case force is on her way," Dan said. "Not sure how she heard about it so fast. Or why she's coming."

Ever since she found out the truth about Lucifer, Chloe wondered if the rumors of Kate Lockley's absence for believing in the supernatural was actually her having evidence for the devil's existence and the rumor mill spun it into vampires but Chloe had never wanted to come out and ask her. Chloe still wasn't sure how she became an outcast to back in the fold after the 'terrorist attack' but now Lucifer opened up a whole new set of questions.

A black convertible pulled up and a young-looking man wearing black dress pants, black button down shirt and black long wool coat got out at the same time a sedan arrived that a middle aged blond woman wearing black jeans and blue shirt got out of. "No way," Lucifer muttered.

"What do we have?" Kate asked, going over to them. "Chloe, it's been a while."

"Fine. How are you Kate? Who's your partner?" Chloe asked.

"Angel," Lucifer answered. "And out and about during the day?"

Kate panicked at the implication that someone knew Angel is a vampire. "You're Lucifer, the much talked about consultant. Let's step aside and compare notes."

"He works for the cops?" Angel asked. "Him?" The vampire was shocked. Lucifer Morningstar working for the police was the last thing the nearly two hundred and seventy year old vampire with a soul ever expected. Kate pulled Angel aside as Chloe pulled Lucifer with them. Dan and Ella bagged more evidence.

"I hope you're not taking it personally about the summer of ninety-eight, Maze and I didn't choose for you to come to us and you're a cornucopia of guilt to work with. I actually told you to ease up on the guilt. Had you been killed a few seconds earlier you wouldda been working for me, or destroyed." Lucifer looked up at the sun. "How are you out during the day?"

Angel flashed his ring finger of a gold ring with a green design. "Gem of Amara. A witch friend was able to recreate it. I smashed the original."

"Then why are you still pale?"

Angel sighed. "I don't know," he admitted. "Though, I usually use it just for work."

"Spray tans exist. You don't have to not-live this way. Selfie cameras must get around the whole lack of mirror problem, huh? Is that why you're using less product than when you were sent to me?"

"Lucifer, he looks great," Chloe told him, as Angel scowled. Then she bit her lip. "I mean, he looks fine. Wait, what do you mean not live? Was he in hell?"

"He usually prefers blonder women," Lucifer said immediately. Angel looked slightly betrayed at the small laugh that came from Kate. "And he's a vampire!"

"With a soul, I'm not evil anymore. And you're the devil! You've done damage. I don't recall you ever trying to stop Angelus back in the day. I recall you having sex with a lot of vampires." Angel shot back.

Lucifer was distracted by Angel's car. "That's a great Mustang! '66?"

"Thanks! I've had it for two years." Angel looked over to the nearby Corvette. "That Corvette yours? It's beautiful."

"What just happened?" Chloe questioned. They were bickering then fawning over cars.

Kate pointed to the dead bodies. "We have a double murder to solve."

Angel walked over to the bodies then walked back. "The symbol on the man's hand was written in the woman's blood and vice versa," Angel told her.

"How can you possibly know that?" Chloe asked.

"Looks like the LAPD uses him as a bloodhound. Vampires have a great sense of smell," Lucifer explained.

"If it was vampires something or someone must have interrupted because they're not fully drained," Angel added.

"Seriously? You know that already?" Chloe was impressed.

"He does," Kate confirmed. "Chloe Decker, this is Angel, Angel this is Chloe Decker. Wait, Lucifer's the devil? There's an actual Devil and you haven't told me?"

"Sorry?" Angel apologized. "I didn't think the Lucifer I heard was in LA was actually him for this amount of time."

"You could have told me there's an actual Devil regardless. So, is he a Senior Partner that you didn't destroy?"

"Senior Partner," Lucifer snorted. "That group of Dad's first drafts of other creatures gone wrong had me blamed for a lot of shit I had no part of. Nice work destroying them. Well most of them, I did help from Hell at the end."

"It was easy," Angel breezed off. "And I figured you did."

"You had so much of the city damaged the Powers are still holding out on your humanity," Kate pointed out.

"Ah. The Powers That Be," Lucifer explained to Chloe. "That'd be some of my siblings' little club with some underlings to feel like they're sitting at the big kids table, formed by Michael of all dipshits. They love to screw with him. I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's the name."

Angel was shocked. "The Powers are your siblings?" Angel questioned. "I never knew that."

Lucifer gave a nod. "Yeah but they delegate to other beings a lot. They learned the absentee and poor planning from Dad. I thought you knew."

"Okay we have a murder to solve and Lucifer, please," Chloe begged, "don't tell Dan, Angel is a vampire. He's barely dealing with you being the Devil."

"But-" Lucifer started.

"No," Chloe pointed a finger in his face.

"Please?"

"No."

"How many cops know the Devil is working with the force and I don't?" Kate asked.

"Just, me, Dan and Ella Lopez from forensics," Chloe answered. "And Ella has a big mouth so don't tell Ella either."

"The symbols could mean this could be a ritual scenario," Angel theorized.

"That's why I thought we should take a look at it when I heard it reported in," Kate said. "I don't mean to step on your toes Chloe but I keep an ear out for neck marks and strange symbols."

"Or it's a gang," Lucifer said. "I think I know where I've seen the symbol, on a neck tattoo of a dealer but I can't entirely be sure. Maybe they want it known who did it to send a message hence the blood symbol."

"Dealer?" Kate asked.

"Drugs. Don't remember what the guy was dealing. I meet a lot of people and a lot of them dealing."

"Recently?" Chloe asked.

"Not sure. Like I said it's familiar and I'm getting tattoo."

"I haven't seen it and I photographic memory," Angel said. "I'd remember where I saw it."

"Well goody for you," Lucifer replied. "How's your boy Spike?"

"He's not my boy."

"They live together," Kate said. "They each have a Gem of Amara but they only work for eight hours at a clip and they'll lend them to each other if need be. Though sometimes it's just to get away from each other."

"It's a big hotel, he moved himself in and never left and why are you telling him?" Angel questioned.

"Because it's entertaining that you still don't think you're friends," Kate explained. "And you didn't tell me there's an actual devil."

"Do I want to know who Spike is?" Chloe asked.

"No," Kate answered. "We should get to work."

"Yes, we need to run that symbol through the books of gang signs," Lucifer decided.

"I need to call my friend Gunn to look up the symbol in occult books," Angel declared.

"It's a gang."

"It's mystical."

Chloe shrugged. "I think it could go either way."

"So do I," Kate agreed.

Dan walked over to them. "We think we got a victim ID. The man, Anthony Garza was the son of an alleged mob enforcer and Anthony has priors himself for-"

"See!" Lucifer bragged.

"And the woman, Trina Lane, get this, owned a magic shop nearby," Dan finished.

"HA!" Angel celebrated. "I mean this is horrible and Kate and I will get to the bottom of it."

Lucifer stuck his hand up in protest. "Hey now, anything your detective can do my detective can do better."

"This isn't a competition, Lucifer," Chloe pointed out. "But we can do this."

"I'm not his detective, you make it sound like we're dating," Kate corrected. "I call him to help."

"Anthony's mobbed up father is still alive. We need all the help we can get before he and his friends find out who did it first and we have more blood on our hands," Dan said. Dan looked back at the victims with the bloodied symbol on their hands. "No pun intended of course."

"Of course not, why would you ever intend to make a good pun," Lucifer retorted. "Angel this is Detective Douche aka Daniel, Daniel this is Angel, he's-" Lucifer paused to intentionally cause Chloe a moment of panic "an old friend and apparently we're both in the consulting business."

Dan eyed the man in the expensive clothes, then the cars. "Let me guess, that's your Mustang? Do you own a nightclub too?" Dan chuckled. "Aren't you hot in that wool coat? It's April."

"I have invested in a friend's karaoke bar," Angel admitted. "And I don't get warm easily."

"Let's go to work," Chloe said.

Angel frowned. "I was going to say that."

I did my best to work in how the Senior Partners/PTB fit into a world where God is real too.

Next chapter will be posted this weekend, most likely. Chloe having questions about vampires and some Dan/Lucifer/Angel teamwork. Other Angel characters will pop up later as will more Lucifer characters. 4 more chapters to go. Reviews/feedback would be appreciated to know to keep posting and if you'd prefer double space between lines also let me know.
