Chapter Text

As the final shirt was packed in her pack, Frisk took a sigh of relief. "Finally done." After she left her room, Frisk was surprised to see her aunt and uncle standing by the door. "Wait, I thought you guys would be sleeping by now." The elderly woman shook her head. "Not without giving our little girl a hug!" After saying that, the two surrounded Frisk and gave her a hug. Frisk hadn't planned on crying today. Of course, she was emotional, but she had told herself to stay strong. But this. This was too much for her to bear. She ended up breaking down into tears at their embrace. After about a few minutes of this, they let go of her. Frisk walked to the door. "...I love you, OK?" Her guardians nodded, and Frisk walked out the door.

Chara didn't bother giving her parents a goodbye when she left for college, not like they'd actually say it back, anyway. She was well aware of the fact that she was an accident. A mistake. Someone who was never meant to be in this world. And yet, she was anyway. All because her idiot father forgot to pull out one time, 9 months before she was born. She looked back at her house, a symbol everything she hated about this world. She stuck up her middle finger at the house, and began to walk to the college. It wasn't all that far, and she figured some exercise couldn't hurt.

Eventually, they both reached the gates of their home for the next year. The letters on the gates spelled out: "UNIVERSITY OF EBOTT". Frisk looked overwhelmed by the amount of people, while Chara seemed almost comfortable around them. Eventually, all the people reached the dormitory buildings where they would be assigned their rooms for the next year. Frisk and Chara both walked up to the main booth, and they were both unknowingly assigned the same number. When they both walked in the elevator, they each gave each other a glance. "...So, what room you got?" Chara was a bit taken aback by suddenly hearing this girl's voice, but figured there was no harm in telling her. "Oh, uh... I'm in room 263." When she spoke, Frisk detected a hint of an accent she was unaware of. British, perhaps? Frisk took a second to look at her card. "Oh! Same here! What are the odds, right?" Chara sighed. Well, at least it could have been worse, right? The elevator suddenly opened, and the two walked out. After a few minutes, they had found their room. Frisk opened the door for Chara. "After you, roomie." Chara sighed. "Do not call me that." Frisk stared at Chara. "Well, you never gave me your name, so..." Oh, right. Where had her manners gone? "My apologies. I should have introduced myself earlier." "Oh no, it's fine! You didn't know we were gonna be roommates, it's not your fault!" Chara was slightly relieved to hear this girl accept her apology was accepted. "In any case... Greetings. I am Chara. Pleasure to meet you..." Chara waited for Frisk to introduce herself. *Wow, she's so formal... and kinda pretty- Focus, Frisk! You barely know this girl. Now shut up and introduce yourself.* After mentally scolding herself, she obliged. "Frisk is my name, nice to meet you too." Frisk held her hand out, offering a handshake. "I hope we can get along!" Chara slowly reached her hand out and shook Frisk's.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - Getting To Know Each Other

Chapter Text

Frisk hadn't really packed much stuff. Just the essentials, like her phone, all her textbooks, and of course, her sketchbook, which looked a bit ragged and torn due to use. It had been a birthday gift, after all, and the pages were filled with old drawings, and general doodles. She decided to take a flip through it, as she usually did once per month or so, and cringe at her past self's drawings, and occasionally point out something she was proud of.

But there was still one issue. She was running out of pages. She'd need to buy a new sketchbook soon, but she wasn't quite ready to part with this one yet.

Likewise, Chara also hadn't packed much. She had also brought her phone and textbooks, though hers looked far better than Frisk's, in pristine condition. Partially due to her being from a rich family, and thus getting practically free access to all the best handbooks, and partially due to her being a total neat-freak. And lastly, she pulled out her journal, which held writing practice in the form of short stories, as well as journal entries consisting of what occurred in that day. Almost like a diary, though Chara refused to call it that. Chara took a quick glance over at Frisk, who currently had her nose buried in her sketchbook. At first she was disgusted by the skecthbook's wear and tear, but by the way frisk was looking at it, it was reasonable to assume she had had this book for a while.

"So you're an artist?" Chara blurted out, suddenly disturbing the silence that had plagued the room ever since they had introduced themselves to each other. Her voice kept that distinct tone of politeness.

"O-Oh, yeah... I'm not really that good, though..."

This made Chara raise her eyebrow. Why had she seen so many artists online say that their art is bad, even when it's fantastic? Of course, she hadn't seen Frisk's art yet... Until now, that is.

"May I see it?"

"Hm?" Frisk looked up from her book once more, catching Chara's attention.

"Your sketch book. May I see it?" She asked once again, her politeness never once fading.

"Oh, uh... Sure!" Frisk nervously handed over her book to Chara, and nervously watched as Chara thumbed her way through it, occasionally lifting an eyebrow when she saw a particularly grabbing piece. After a few minutes, she handed back to Frisk.

"S-So what do you think?"

Chara didn't take very long to come up with her response.

"I must admit, I am not very knowledgeable in the artistic field, but you are not a bad artist at all. Surely better than 'not really that good'."

Frisk's face took on a shade of red at Chara's praise, as she had never really received much in-person praise. She had seen many on her online art posting profile of course, but those were by anonymous strangers who Frisk wasn't sure if they were genuine. This, was different on the other hand. This was the first person outside of her family and the internet to have expressed interest in Frisk's art, and she wasn't quite sure how to feel.

"Th-Thanks..."

"You do not need to thank me."

Frisk's eyes wandered over to Chara's journal, that she had left on a nearby table.

"Is that yours, by the way?" She pointed to the book.

Chara's head turned in the direction that frisk was pointing in, and immediately dashed over and grabbed it.

"Yes, it is."

"Can I see it?" Frisk had expressed curiosity over the book, and why Chara had dashed over to it so quickly.

"No, you may not." There were some deeply personal secrets hidden in there, secrets she was not yet ready to reveal to this stranger.

"Oh... Alright." Frisk responded with disappointment, yet understanding.

Silence had once again gripped the room. The two merely stood there, occasionally glancing around the room, trying to come up with a new talking point.

"Wanna try some Icebreakers?" Frisk brought up.

"What?" Chara responded with confusion, not knowing what on earth Frisk was talking about.

"Icebreakers, y'know, where you ask someone a question about themselves, they answer, they ask you one, and so on... It's a great way for people to get to know each other. I think we should give it a try, since we'll be living together for some time." Frisk explained to Chara what icebreakers were, though she was curious why Chara hadn't heard of them before.

Chara listened to Frisk's explanation, and figured she had a solid argument.

"Alright. Let us engage in these 'Icebreakers'." Chara responded somewhat begrudgingly, yet with a hint of optimism in her voice.

Upon hearing Chara's response, Frisk did a little fist pump in celebration. *YES!*

"OK, let's do this."

Chapter 3: An Update

Chapter Text

Well, this fic kinda sucks, so i will be rebooting it entirely

see you later i guess

Notes:

So that's it for Chapter 1! Feel free to leave any comments below, about what i did well, what i did wrong, whatever. I'll try to respond to as many of you as i can! Also please leave constructive criticism only.

Also just so you know, asterisks (*) infront of and behind a character's words mean that's what they're thinking, so Frisk didn't just call Chara pretty to her face, we're not quite there yet.
