Work Text:
Felix sipped his coffee, watching as two others hung the plaque on the wall. Ironic, someone who had so many medals hanging off him eying an award, but still he felt the sting. Or maybe it was the sting of the hot coffee passing through the gaps in his few teeth.
“Still hoping it’ll be you someday?” A small shark-like creature waddled up beside Felix, watching the plaque go up.
“Someday, I swear, my name will be on one of those.” Felix looked down. “What, no desire for the same, Selach?”
The shark shook his head. “No chance. No one will ever be afraid of something they don’t even know the name of. You saw how those Snarks did.” Sighing, it stomped its three legs. “You have a chance, but me and Elas? We’ll never have our names in lights.”
At this glum mood a small hound ran over, licking the rough-skinned shark. “Cheer up friend! You’ll get there soon!” It eyed both Felix and Selach at once with its long eye.
Felix sipped more coffee. “And what about you, Buddy?”
“I’ll be up there too someday! Just you wait! The Boss says we’re too cute, but me and the boy’s’ll show them! Someone out there will be afraid of us someday and then we’ll get ‘em!”
Felix reached down a long ribbon-like appendage littered with medals and trophies of various kinds and patted Buddy on the head. The monster’s tail wagged happily. “I’m sure you will, I’m sure you will.”
All three looked up at the plaque. “Employee of the Month: Elevadeer, for Exceptional Magical Girl Elimination.”
Selach poked Felix with one of his feet. “Hey, you hear about that new guy going for the title? Mouthburger?”
Felix sighed. “Ugh, I hate that guy. Too many eyes.”
