Bakugou and Kirishima rescued Hana on a mission. Villains had blown up a building and the baby had been the only survivor, with no other relatives. They were twenty-eight years old, not yet married, but with just an exchange of glances they decided they would adopt her.
The documentation had worked and now Hana was at home with them. Her little hand’s wrapped around her parents' fingers. It was already night and it was so quiet in the world that night. The little girl's eyelids fluttering as she dreamed. Kirishima tucked her inand turned on her favorite night light.
Bakugou and Kirishima felt fulfilled with their daughter. Finally, a space they never knew was empty had been filled. For the baby everything was funny and she’s got nothing to regrets. They loved the girl and would give her everything she needed.
It had been six months since Hana had officially become their daughter. Bakugou and Kirishima were so happy that they decided to have a small celebration, just for the three of them.
"Kats, she's so cute!" Kirishima spoke while squeezing the girl's cheeks "I hope she never grows up!"
Bakugou laughed "Of course she'll grow up Hair for Brains, but it will take time, let's enjoy it while she's little, I don't even want to imagine when she's a teenager."
They both started making little statements to the baby, who responded only with grunts and giggles.
Bakugou spoke "I will never let any asshole hurt you or break your heart!" being completed by the red-haired husband "We will never leave you! I wish you could stay this little, it could stay this simple."
When Hana was three years old, Kirishima was convinced that the girl would be an artist when she grew up. So he set up a paint set in the kitchen so the girl could paint while he and Bakugou prepared dinner.
The little girl already knew how to talk and wouldn't stop for a minute. It was the age of princesses, pirate ships and seven dwarfs, so subjects changed quickly without their noticing.
They weren't expecting that cute little baby voice to say to them "Daddies, you guys are the prettiest and smartest daddies in the whole world. I love you!" They replied that she was also the smartest and most gorgeous of all the daughters and that they loved her too, but before they could get emotional, the girl was already talking about something else as she spilled the paints on the kitchen counter.
Hana was already five.
The weather was getting cold and she was wearing her big purple coat, and Kirishima commented how cute she looked, she was looking like a mini Michelin doll. Bakugou couldn't contain his laugh at the comment from the redhead, who was now his husband.
The little girl heard her parents laughing and looked up smiling at them, before sprinting across the pumpkin patch by the parked tractors. It was October and they had gone there to arrange the pumpkins so they could carve them as Halloween decorations.
By the end of the afternoon the sky was already gold. Hana hugged her parents' legs as she waited for them to pay for the pumpkins. She was so tired from running so much that she fall asleep on the way home.
Like most five-year-olds, Hana still didn't know a lot. She didn't know why the trees change in the fall. She didn't know if Snow White's house was near or far away.
But she knew that her parents were not scared of anything at all. And she also knew that she had been the best day with them.
Hana was thirteen now and didn’t know how her friends could be so mean.
She came home crying, and her parents hugged her tight. While Bakugou cursed and blew things up threatening to hit those kids with explosions, Kirishima patted the girl's head saying to her husband "You can't just blow them up Kats, it would be unmanly! We'll sort this out at school later, ok?"
Then the blonde grudgingly agreed and took the car keys. The three drove and drove, until they found a town that was far enough away. So they walked, talked, ate ice cream and window shop, until the girl forgot all their names.
Hana didn't know who she was going to talk to now at school or how long it would take her to feel okay again.
But she knew she was laughing a lot with her parents on the car ride home with them, she was even losing her breath! She knew it had been the best day with them.
Now at fifteen, Hana was in the car on her way to the movies with Bakugou driving.
There had been a little argument before they left the house. Kirishima would take her today, but she had asked her father to leave her around the block. She was embarrassed to have her dad drop her off at the entrance to the cinema, because all her friends were hooked on the fact that her parents were heroes and Kirishima always paid too much attention to them and, argh, it was embarrassing!
Kirishima didn't understand why his little girl was acting like this, and tempers were stirred when the girl yelled "Fuck off! I can't stand being only fifteen and being forced to live with you guys anymore, I feel trapped! I can’t wait to move out someday and call my own shots!”
An unpleasant silence ended up falling in the room. The girl realized that she had extrapolated. Her parents were so nice, and the redhead was always extremely sweet to her. Hana knew she'd said it without thinking and that he didn't deserve to hear it.
Before she could say anything else, Kirishima turned to Bakugou and asked him to take her. After that, he just went upstairs to their bedroom leaving the two of them alone in the living room.
When the car stopped, Hana realized that her father had stopped the car around the block of the movies, as she had requested.
"Hana, before you go…"
"Dad, I know I'm wrong and I shouldn't have yelled at Daddy like that! I was going to apologize, but you saw him, he just ran away and I had no time and-" the girl started talking quickly, running over all the words.
Bakugou chuckled and said, "Hey Hanabi, calm down. I know you didn't want to, but Eijirou is a sensitive person, we have to be careful! Fuck, I speak from experience!"
The girl laughed. She always found it funny how her parents complemented each other: one being a complete ray of sunshine and the other being a lightning storm.
"Hanabi, I know your dad is flashy and that he loves to pay attention to your friends, he's just to lovely for his own good. I honestly don't know why the fuck your friends didn't pick me up as their favorite." Bakugou said with a hint of humor in his voice and then continued, "I'm leaving you here today, just so you can think about your walk to the movies. I don't want you asking him or me to let you around the block again, I don't want you being ashamed of your parents! About me I'd understand, but, fuck, you should be proud to show off your dad, he's the number four hero, for fuck's sake! I know you're growing up and adolescence sucks, but you need to remember that we're getting old too and we won't be here forever!"
The girl was teary-eyed because she knew that everything her father was saying was true. Bakugou wiped a tear that ran down her cheek and continued, "We just want to enjoy as much time with you as possible, ok? It's not easy to see our little girl growing up! I need you to promise me three things."
Hana nodded to her father, waiting for him to list what she should promise.
"I want you to promise that you'll apologize to your dad when you get home" She nodded "I also want you to have the most fucking fun with your friends tonight, I know it was hard for you guys to find free time because of the tests" she smiled and nodded again waiting for the last promise "And lastly, I know you're growing old and getting bitter, but I forbid you to stop dancing around in your PJs in the morning while getting ready to school, Seriously, it's one of the best entertainments I have in the morning," Bakugou chuckled as he was slapped by his daughter, who apparently didn't think anyone saw her morning shows.
They ended the exchange of slaps laughing and the girl hugged her dad, dropping a kiss on his cheek before getting out of the car "I promise dad, all three promises. I love you."
"I love you too, Hanabi. Now get out of my car, I'm starting to feel embarrassed standing here" Bakugou said, giving the girl a wink.
After closing the car door, the girl walked smiling to the movies. Surely she would keep all her promises.
Bakugou and Kirishima were cuddling on the couch while watching a movie. After returning home, the blonde talked to the redhead who already knew that the girl had not spoken out of harm. He was just upset because he felt he wasn't ready to see his little girl growing up and not needing him anymore.
It was 10:30 pm when Hana got home, she got a ride with a friend. It had been a nice night, despite the argument with the father earlier.
"I’m back!" said the girl, leaving her shoes at the door and walking towards them.
"Welcome back" Bakugou smiled at his daughter "Want dinner?"
"Yeah, I ate some popcorn but I finished it at the beginning of the movie."
"Alright, I'll go get you something to eat then" Bakugou said looking at her sharply, asking her to talk to Kirishima while he wasn't in the room. The girl just nodded and approached the redhead.
"Dad… Can I sit here with you?"
"Of course my love" Kirishima said, taking off the blanket he was using with the blonde during the movie "How was with your friends?"
"Oh, it was cool! It's been a while since the girls and I did something to distract from school" Kirishima smiled at her daughter's response "But… Can I talk to you?"
"What is it, Hana? Did something happen there?" the redhead asked worried and the girl smiled.
"No, nothing happened. I just wanted to apologize for earlier today. I was unfair and I should never have said those things to you. You're an excellent father, and Daddy too! All your strength makes me stronger every day! I grew up in this pretty house with you guys, I always had space to run and mess around, and… I had the best days with you two! I'm sorry I was a horrible daughter."
Kirishima hugged his daughter who was now crying with him "My love, you're not a horrible daughter! I know you spoke without thinking and I just reacted like that because I'm not prepared to see my little girl grow up and don't need me anymore !"
"I will always need you daddy!" Hana hugged him tighter "I'm sorry I love you so much!"
"I love you too baby, I love you a lot."
Both reconciled emotionally on the couch and didn't notice the blonde crying as he watched the two suns that lit up his days thinking "They're two really emotional idiots, tsk, and I love them both so much."
Hana was in her new apartment, in this new big city where she would start her new job at an art gallery. Her parents had just dropped her off, and now they were driving back to the house she grew up in.
The silence was too loud. She had just realized that everything she had someday was gonna be gone. She should have taken pictures in her mind of her childhood room. She should have memorized what it sounded like when her daddies got home from work. She wanted to be able to remember all the footsteps, all the words said and all her parents favorite songs.
Her new house was much colder than she ever thought it would be. It lacked heat, but it wasn't heat she could get through a heater.
So the girl tucked herself in and turned on her favorite nightlight, which she had had since she was a baby, and sighed. She wishes she’d never grown up and had stayed that little.
Now, at twenty-six, Hana knew why the trees changed in the fall. She also knew her parents were by her side even when she was wrong.
She loved that, even though she was adopted, the universe had provided for her to have her parents eyes. She loved how, even with their difficult hero routines, they always had time to stay back and watch her shine.
Hana pulled out her cell phone, opened the message group she had with her parents, and sent the message.
Hana 🎇: Thanks for the ride. I had the best day with you today! ❤️
