Work Text:

Masuki still couldn’t process how Reona and Chiyu’s first permanent home together was yet another huge penthouse. I mean, it sure as hell made sense. Chiyu’s family were as wealthy as ever, combined with how Raise A Suilen had broken into worldwide success over more recent years. Reona’s very own yume kawaii fashion line she’d started when she was only just eighteen had taken off incredibly well, and even when she’d insisted on selling items for such low prices much to the management team’s dismay, it was certainly adding to her and her girlfriend’s penthouse funds. Masuki wasn’t the biggest fan of posh celebrity living, but man was she just beyond happy to see Reona living in comfort, safety and happiness at long last.

"Masu-san! Masu-san! Masu-saaaaan~!”

Masuki had barely pressed send on the text to RAS’s group chat to confirm her arrival when she heard the glass doors to the building slide open and frantic footsteps tumble out. It was mid-evening and the sun was just beginning to set in Tokyo, and Masuki had barely heard from Reona and her girlfriend all day up until now. Not like it was a bad thing this time, though. Today had marked an entire ten years since they'd begun officially dating. Man... a whole ten years. And Reona and Chiyu were still only twenty-four. Just thinking about it made Masuki feel like she was getting old, but so insanely sentimental at the same time. She would easily admit that it was pretty damn cute to still be with your very first girlfriend from back when you were fourteen. God, she could still picture them vividly back as young teens who had no idea how to kiss with a height difference of twenty-two centimeters or how easily flustered and whiney Chiyu would get whenever Reona would embarass her by saying such lovey dovey things or just... the absolute babies that they were in Masuki's eyes. Well, to be fair, she without a doubt still saw them as babies till very this day.

And there Reona had appeared, running out of the tower's doors in a fluffy pink dressing gown and tiny heels that she seemed to have only put on because they were the things closest to her when she left her home. There was a huge smile on her face and a look in her eyes that showed such excitement and happiness it honestly made Masuki a little baffled at first. Black hair that had white highlights bleached neatly into it fluttered behind her with no hair tie in sight. Okay, something had happened. "Aight, yer way too happy to see me. Unless ya real passionate about cake all of a sudden." She joked as she set down the cake box on the pavement beside her feet. "What's goin' on?"

"I... C-Chiyu...!" Reona took a gaspy breath as she came to a halt in front of her closest friend, not from tiredness but more so from the excitement of it all. She clasped her hands together, looking for the right words in all her giddiness, but eventually just presented the back of her hand to Masuki.

“Masu-san, look!”

Upon one of Reona’s fingers was one of the sparkliest rings Masuki had ever seen, along with one of the largest diamonds she’d also probably ever seen. Despite the large, glittery rock, the ring was still so dainty looking and looked absolutely perfect upon Reona.
“Maaan…” Masuki furrowed her brow in a squint as she inspected the ring, taking a hold of the only-slightly-shorter girl’s hand to give the piece of jewelry a closer look. “Damn, Chu really must’ve splashed the cash on ya yet again, huh? That’s a real pretty anniversary gift.” However as the words left her mouth, an incredibly brief look of disappointment crossed Reona’s expression but her optimism quickly took over it yet again.

”A-Ah, Masu…san! What… What finger… is it on…?”

“What finger? Uhhh…” Well, it was her…

Her…

”N-No way… Waiiit wait wait…. Re… Reona… No wayyy….”

A giggle left Reona as she practically watched the cogs turn within Masuki’s head. “Yes way!”

The beautiful diamond ring resided pride of place upon Reona’s ring finger on her left hand. Once that had fully processed through Masuki’s brain, the sight immediately made her chest feel tight with so much happy, sappy emotion. This was the young woman, no, girl in Masuki’s eyes, who Masuki genuinely saw as her little sister. She could remember this same girl standing nervously in front of her and Rei and Rokka all those years ago, aged thirteen and hesitantly confessing how she had feelings for that tiny DJ and seeking reassurance that her feelings were normal and okay. She remembered Reona’s clunky, awkward but very enthusiastic journey into being open about her love for girls and distaste for boys, but also moments of having to provide her with comfort as the poor girl was terrified of her parents discovering the fact that their “perfect daughter” was a lesbian. She remembered promising Reona that her and the others absolutely loved her and that when the day where her parents found out about her love inevitably came and things didn’t go well, the three of them would be her true family from then onwards. She remembered when Reona and Chiyu were sixteen and how during Reona’s first year of high school at Haneoka, she escorted the two of them to one of the big jewelers in Shinjuku and awkwardly waited outside so the two could pick their promise rings in peace. She remembered how she was practically their personal driver during Reona’s high school years, how she’d always honk the car’s horn whenever the young couple would “sneak” a little kiss on her backseat just to embarrass Chiyu, how she was the “wedding officiate” when they had their pretend wedding to cheer up Reona after a rough week during her final year of middle school. Masuki could only describe her emotions at that moment as overwhelming pride.

All the drummer could do at that moment was bring her little sister into a big, strong hug, lifting her off the ground in the process. She let out incoherent jumbles of happy proud-big-sis declarations such as “My lil sis is gonna get marrieeddd…!” and “Yer ‘n’ Chu are- are g-gonna be cute tiny wiiiives…!”  up until she finally let Reona breath for a moment, only after giving her a twirl in the air as the youngest of the two let out giggles of joy.

“Wah! Masu-saaaan…! Don’t cry! I only stopped crying myself a minute before I ran out here to meet you!”

”I’m… nghh… n-not cryin’!”

But thankfully, Masuki managed to put a vague stop to her not-crying after Reona wiped her eyes with her soft dressing gown sleeves whilst stifling a laugh. “S-So… god, man…” She tried to begin before letting out a very ungraceful sniffle. “Did Chu like… actually, y’know, ask you ‘n’ all? Get down on her tiny knee?”

Reona answered with an instant, eager nod, fanning herself with her hand in a feeble attempt to prevent herself from crying again. "Y-Yes...! She did! It... It surprised me so much, I was actually considering p-proposing someday myself! But..." Then, her gaze softened as her fanning came to a stop. "She wanted to live up to the promise she made me when we were kids and spoke about getting married for real... That she'd propose to me for real, with a real ring and everything! It's all going to be real, Masu-san! Chiyu's going to be my... Masu-san....?"

That was it. That was the final straw for Masuki. There she was, standing in front of Reona, crying like a little baby but doing her best to wipe all the tears from her eyes. So of course, Reona said nothing more for a long moment besides a little laugh as she brought her big sister into another hug.

"Would you like to come in for a bit? I don’t want to leave Chiyu by herself for any longer!” She suggested after a while once the two separated, leaving Masuki sniffling and rubbing her eye.

“Yer gonna... sniff... make me third wheel or somethin’?” Masuki had joked, albeit was a very very recycled joke.

Reona gave her a very twinkly- eyed smile as well as a “Hmmm.... maybeeee~!” which earned her a ruffle of her hair before the still-blonde older one slumped her arm around her shoulders.

“Aight, aight.... Ah, geez... I can’t believe it... I mean, I can but.... I can’t wait t’hear Chu’s side of the story!” God Masuki could already imagine the shy blushy face of the still not even five-foot-tall band producer. Still, the two began there walk inside once Masuki remembered to pick up that almost forgotten cake box.

”Gosh, I still haven’t told anybody else yet...” Reona mused. “I can’t wait to tell the others and Hina-chan... Oh, and Tae-san and Yukina-san! Ah, and my own mother of course~!”
