Good morning, Sunny

Summary:

Sunny told the truth and everyone left. Too weak to kill himself and too guilt-ridden to live, he just sits in the hospital room. And if it was up to him, he would have never left.

Luckily it isn't up to him as someone knocks on his door.

Work Text:

The sun peeked curtains beams of light falling right onto the eye of black haired boy in room 1280. He stirred awake from his sleep and sat up in the uncomfortable hospital bed. He wouldn‘t call it sleep really. It was barely a nap. He couldn‘t really sleep that night and it wasn‘t too hard to guess why. There were too many things that happened yesterday. Hero, Kel, Aubrey - they left him. That was to be expected if course. He can‘t ask for any better treatment. He has to be thankful Hero didn‘t beat him up on the spot even though he seemed really tempted to. The memory to what happened yesterday flashed back to him.

After he finished talking Hero didn‘t wait a second. He glared at Sunny pushed him out of the way and left the room. Kel looked at Sunny and Aubrey as if they could help him and then he ran after his brother. Aubrey lingered a little longer. She just stood there, her hands balled up into fists and tears welling up in her eyes.

The slightest sound escaped her mouth:

“Sun-ny... I...“ but she just ran out before she could say anything else. She was wiping away the tears that were now streaming down her face when Sunny last saw her when the door closed in front of his face. He wanted to run after her, to tell her something but there was nothing else to be said. He killed Mari. He killed Mari and hung her like a witch. And he lied to them for four years. There was nothing else.

Throughout the rest of the day all he could think about was what will happen now that they know. Could they forgive him? And would they want to? He still held out hope but he knew that sooner or later that reality was going have to accept that he fucked everything up.

The only somewhat positive thing to come out of yesterday was the fact that he was basically healed and was free to leave at his discretion. The bruises would heal and the eye while still irreparably damaged would not kill him. Still that meant the only thing he could do was commit suicide now which he knew is too weak to do. He knew he didn‘t have the will or courage to take his life and he hated himself that much more for it.

He laid back down and rolled to his side trying to not think about all of this. It was a fruitless endeavour but he tried non the less. He must have rolled there for hours trying to escape from reality into his mind but there was nowhere to escape to. Headspace, whitespace, even blackspace- he remembered and now they were destroyed. Forced to deal with the situation he had created

Aubrey steadied her breathing. She really didn‘t know how to approach the situation. What was she supposed to say? How would he even react? Is this the right decision? ‘No, even if it isn‘t I have already come here. I should at least talk.‘ With that thought she knocked on the door of room 1280.

Without waiting for a response she entered. She saw there Sunny sitting on his bed looking back at her with confusion and worry. Aubrey stood at the door before she approached and said:

“H-hey Sunny“ Sunny‘s look didn‘t change. “I h-heard that you were... free to go and I was hoping that we could go somewhere. So... we can talk and hang out just ... You know.“

Sunny knew Aubrey well and he could easily read her. So to his surprise she was sincere. There was no trap or trick. It was calming at least but truly bizzare. Sunny‘s look became more quizzical and without saying anything he posed a question ‘Why? Why have you forgiven me so easily?‘

Aubrey saw that and sighed.

“Listen Sunny, I don‘t know if I made the right decision to come here and I know you aren‘t sure as well. But I can‘t just sit at home and leave you again. I refuse... not again. I don‘t want to lose you, not like this. So please, let us have this one final day together“ tears were forming in her eyes again.

Sunny sat there for a moment and then he just nodded. He couldn‘t hurt her anymore, he had to go with her even if he didn‘t deserve her forgiveness.

Aubrey smiled and wiped her tears away. She held Sunny‘s hand and helped him out of the bed. She lead his out of the hospital room, some irrelevant number written on it.

“Alright, Sunny... Let‘s go“

Notes:

Sooo... remember when I said that I will post new chapters of my main fic faster... Yeaaaaah... I don't think I have been this wrong in a while.

Either way here is this little thing as an apology for my silence.

In regards to "Crashing through his life" I was originally planning on making the third chapter much longer but I could split it into two and post the first one basically immediately. I would like to get your opinion on what I should do, so give me a comment pls.
