Heejin Is Bread

Summary:

People have their own ways of saying the 3 words to the person they love, this is Hyunjin's.

Notes:

Okay the way i screeched when I saw the clip on Twitter was inhuman.

I'm @ryussimp on twitter, I barely tweet tho so. :>

Work Text:

"A 5 minute video made you that good?" Hyunjin asks as she starts her nightly skin care routine, in front of the mirror and sink in the bathroom.

Heejin is laying with her back on the bed, limbs splayed out as she waits for the other to climb in bed.

"Yes, how many times do I have to tell you?" She says, instead of being annoyed, her tone is full of amusement as she smiles.

After the filming, they all couldn't stop hyping her up over her perfect aim during the archery match. She of course just refuted the claims, saying it was just a stroke of dumb luck.

"As expected, our centre, good at everything. Then again, some of the stuff you're good at is cause you practice so much."

She hears a hum and nothing else. Unsatisfied with the lack of response, she teases.

"Like baking..."

...

She gets the reaction she wants.

A whine is heard and she can picture her face scrunch up as she remembers the poor excuse she called brownies.

"Stop, that was one time! And I got better at it so there!" She finishes off by blowing a raspberry.

Hyunjin is done with her routine and walks in to see Heejin facing away from her in defiance, now laying on her side. She stands over the sight and a smile grows on her face.

The fact that very few people get to see what she's really like off camera is enough for her heart to fill with adoration for her ball of sunshine. The literal reason she wakes up everyday.

It's totally not because the shorter girl tickles her awake. Not at all.

"You know, you're supposed to be the older one between the two of us."

"Yeah well I'm not the one who stole all the bread at the filming site."

"It was bread, what did you expect me to do?"

"Not that! Now come on!"

She gives in to the girl's demand as well as her overwhelming urge to tease the girl instead of cuddling her to sleep.

She lays on the bed, facing away from her.

"You're the one who called me your soulmate with a straight face."

"You're the one who said I was bread to you, what does that even mean?"

She doesn't get a response and assumes the other fell asleep, so she tries to sleep as well.

"I love bread more than anything." She leaves it at that, not wanting to say what she actually means and drifts off to sleep.

It's this childish push and pull that they both love that makes it all the more easy to fall for the other. Their group members say they act like middle school boys but they couldn't care less.

When they're alone it's almost like the words mean more than just mindless bickering. Every word carries a different meaning compared to if they were around other people.

Heejin is left in silence, and her expression lights up almost like a lightbulb turned on above her head and she swallows her pride as she turns to face the girl's back.

The other hears shuffling behind her and arms encircle her, with small timid hands resting over her's and a head against her back.

"I'm bread?" Heejin asks in a soft voice.

"Heejin is bread."

The hug gets tighter, Heejin's front now flush against the other's back and her cheek is pressed up against Hyunjin's back.

"Well I love you too."
