Work Text:

Faust looked generally unimpressed, no matter what situation he was confronted with or what he actually felt about certain situations, as long as it didn’t have to do with his research or scientific reasons, he was generally uninterested. Despite it, though, he would always accompany you whenever you dragged him away from this laboratory or the church out into the world for various shenanigans. And now with the warm spring weather coming, sun shining brightly in the sky, birds singing and the warm breeze making the fields sway in the wind, you had the huge desire to just be outside.

Of course, Faust was not spared.

He would require some photosynthesis, was how you teased him and earned yourself a long suffering sigh when he put down the book he was reading.

You dragged him with you out onto the fields and meadows beyond the castle. You wore a pair of light shoes, a white summer dress and black leggings. You let go of Faust’s hand when you were tired of pulling him after you with a bright smile still on your face. While you were almost jogging through the grass, Faust had no troubles keeping up with you walking perfectly normal.

Encountering a little stream of water which parted the normal field from a colorful meadow, you slipped out of your shoes, carefully stepping into the cold water. Instantly a shiver ran up your legs and you snickered happily. Faust casually took a step over the stream and took your shoes from your hands. “You are going to get sick.” His voice was entirely deadpan, he had nothing else to offer.

You hopped out of the water and walked on bare feet over the meadow. “Nothing is going to happen. Come on or are you going to turn to dust?”

“Old myths that vampires can’t spend time in the sunlight are nonsense.”

“And yet you are never going out into the sun or are much up during the day at all. There is hardly a bigger morning grump than you.” You reached for his hand again and intertwined your fingers, he didn’t openly acknowledge it but also didn’t work against it.

“My work doesn’t require daylight.”

Distracted by your rather one sided chatting, you didn’t watch your steps and tripped on a bigger stone on the ground. Still holding your hand, Faust pulled you towards him and back to your feed before you could actually stumble and fall. “Maybe I should correct myself. You will not get sick, you will break your bones.”

With a frown you lightly smacked his arm and decided to drag him along again, dropping yourself into the grass between the flowers, pulling him down with you. “Naptime.”, was all you said. It earned you nothing but a ‘hmph’ from his side. Faust settled down next to you and reached out to pull you to his side. You happily obliged and dropped your arm over his stomach, the sun warming both of your bodies. You leaned against his chest, listening to his heartbeat and his steady breathing.

As his fingers ran through your hair briefly, you sighed and closed your eyes. It didn’t take long for sleep to overwhelm you. The low chuckle coming from above could have been your imagination as you were drifting off. You had no chance to think about it further.
