Work Text:

When Yoongi first met Jungkook, he couldn’t believe someone as perfect as him existed. Jungkook was sweet, kind, with just enough edge to have people look twice. Yoongi didn’t just look twice, he never tore his eyes away from him. Something about the younger man was so mesmerizing that Yoongi had no choice but to write songs about him, had to stay up until dawn daydreaming potential moments between them. God, he was so over the moon for the younger he felt like he had been aged back to when he was sixteen and in love with his first boyfriend. What a mess that was.

His first encounter with Jungkook wasn’t too eventful. Seokjin was a stickler for what he likes to call “family night,” and every Friday was dedicated to dinner and a movie. Sometimes they go out to eat and watch whatever is latest in the cinema, but that night Seokjin wanted to introduce a new friend of his and for it to be more intimate. His new friend was Jungkook, and instantly everyone fell for the younger. He was the perfect addition to their group, and it felt like he had been there since the beginning. And Jungkook got along with basically everyone. Well, except him.

Yeah. It stings just a little bit.

Yoongi’s not sure what he did to piss him off so much, but whatever it was, was enough to leave a permanent distaste in Jungkook’s mouth. And no, he wasn’t outright rude, but it was the little things Yoongi noticed. His smile always dimmed when Yoongi walked into the room, he never invited him over unless prompted by the others, never had a one-on-one conversation with him unless he was telling Yoongi to move, and was just so cold towards him Yoongi always felt like he needed a winter jacket to be around him.

It hurt, a lot. Yoongi isn’t afraid to admit that he’s cried countless times over Jungkook’s distaste, and it makes him physically sick when he thinks about how he’ll never get over him. An unrequited love at its peak. God, how pathetic. But this leaves him no choice but to deal with things his way, so he does what he does best. He ignores the entire situation. He pretends that everything is alright when it's not, and nobody questions it. And if he chooses to waste away his feelings with anything he can get his hands on then that’s his choice.

“Yoongi, you look like you’ve swallowed a bug! What’s wrong?” Seokjin snaps his fingers. Yoongi tries to pretend like he didn’t just jump, and shrugs his shoulder.

“Nothing, hyung. ‘M just thinking.” He mumbles, shoving a dumpling in his mouth.

Being so lost in his own thoughts, he’d forgotten he was in public. It’s a Friday night, and this time Seokjin and Namjoon wanted to eat out at a bar. Everyone had immediately hopped onto the idea, forcing Yoongi to agree begrudgingly. It’s not that he doesn’t like to eat out, but his wallet has been taking a hit since he picked up his new habits , so he really can’t afford to eat out like this every week.

“Jungkookie, stop!”

Yoongi glances up and immediately regrets it. Fucking hell. This is another reason why he didn’t want to come tonight, Jimin and Jungkook having taken up a new sudden interest in each other. Yoongi’s gonna have to watch the two nearly make out for hours before he can call it quits and head home. He’s not even sure when this thing between them developed, especially since Yoongi was sure Jimin and Taehyung were together. Yoongi subtly looks at Taehyung, noting the dipped corners of his mouth. Seems like he wasn’t a fan of this either. Great. Someone else to share his misery.

“Say, please.” Jungkook retorts, lifting Jimin’s own dumpling away from him. Jimin pouts.

“Just give it back!”

Jungkook’s eyes squint, a new darkness coming over him. “Say, please.”

And oh.

Okay.

Yoongi’s never heard Jungkook speak like that. Rough and demeaning, his voice was demanding respect on its own. If Yoongi were in Jimin’s place he’d be a blushing mess, helplessly dropping to his knees in front of everyone. Absolutely no shame in it. But he’s not in Jimin’s place. So Yoongi watches as Jimin dramatically rolls his eyes while giving into Jungkook’s request, and has to witness the way Jungkook smiles wolfishly before handing the dumpling back.

It’s just too much for him right now.

In an attempt to get away, Yoongi chugs down the rest of his drink before standing. All eyes immediately fall on him, and he fights down the need to cower. He mumbles half-heartedly about needing another drink as he slinks to the bar. As soon as he’s far enough he releases a deep sigh, waving down the bartender for a shot. How the fuck is he supposed to sit through those two for the rest of the night? He’s gonna either go crazy or cough up his dinner if he has to witness that shit again.

Yoongi rests his head in his hands, rubbing at his temples. He can feel a headache beginning to form already, and the night has barely begun. Maybe he can slip away if he sits for another thirty minutes, he can claim food poisoning and head home. Sure it’d be a little awkward but it’s nothing he can’t handle. And in the morning he’ll act like he’s all better. He can do that.

A figure sits next to him. “Hyung.”

Yoongi looks over to see Taehyung sitting next to him, a distraught look on his face. Yoongi immediately snaps into hyung mode, pushing away his own emotions to focus on Taehyung. He leans in closer, wrapping his hand in Taehyung’s hair to run his fingers through his locks lovingly. Taehyung melts into the touch, leaning in closer to keep him as close as possible.

“Taehyung-ah, what’s wrong?”

Taehyung shrugs, brows furrowing in a way that Yoongi can only read as confliction. “I don’t know, it’s stupid really. I have no reason to be so upset about this.”

Yoongi coos. “Taehyung, your feelings are valid. Okay? Why don’t you just tell hyung what’s wrong and we can work through this? Hm?”

Taehyung shrugs again, “I’m in love with Jimin. And- and we were supposed to get together, but we had a fight one night and then he stopped talking to me. And then Jungkook came into the group and now you see how they are and I’m just so hurt. He hasn’t talked to me alone since that night and I’m worried he doesn’t want to be with me anymore. Everytime I try to approach him he just glares at me and walks away.”

“Oh, Taehyung. I’m sorry. Can I ask what the fight was about?” Taehyung wipes his eyes, rubbing away any tears before they could fall.

“I ran into my ex that day. He said he wanted to talk so I agreed to meet up with him to talk things out. I wanted to just hear why he left but I had no intention to get back with him. I just wanted to put it behind me. When I came back, I told Jimin and he accused me of using him as a rebound and just went off on me. He didn’t even give me a chance to explain.”

Yoongi winces. That’s a messy situation as it is. However, Yoongi’s slightly peeved that Jimin just argued with him and didn’t listen to anything Taehyung had to say. But Jimin’s always been the type to react then listen. He’s not too sure what to say to make Taehyung feel better, just sticking to comforting him physically. That’s Yoongi’s own problem. He can only express himself physically, general words never seem to match his true feelings.

“I’m sorry you’re going through this, is there anything you want me to do? Maybe talk to him?” Yoongi offers, but Taehyung shakes his head.

“No, no. I don’t wanna drag you into this shit-show. I just wanted to rant.”

Yoongi nods, feeling slightly useless in his ability to offer advice. Taehyung’s an adult though, and he can handle much more than Yoongi could ever dream of. It’s why they get along so well, they read each other easily, not really needing to explain anything to each other. The bartender passes them two more shots, a merciful smile on her face as she walks away. Taehyung snorts at the glasses.

“Wow, we must look awful if we’re getting free drinks.”

“Hey, if I get drinks for free I don’t mind putting my misery out there.” Yoongi jokes, swallowing the shot in one go. Taehyung following his lead, they both slam their glasses down at the same time.

“Wanna dance, hyung?”

Yoongi considers the offer. On one hand, they’re close friends and this could be completely platonic, but on the other hand, they’re both emotionally hurt and vulnerable. This can go one of two ways, and that’s a dangerous game. It doesn’t help that Taehyung is attractive , and if he wasn’t so hung up on Jungkook he would’ve definitely hopped on this chance. But… What's the harm in having some fun?

“Yeah, let’s dance.”

Taehyung grabs his hand immediately, leading him to the dance floor with newfound determination. It’s crazy how quick this kid can school himself, and Yoongi’s almost a little embarrassed about doing something like this in front of the others. He wants to turn around to check if they’re watching, if he’s watching, but that’ll give it away too easily. Right now, all he wants to do is dance with Taehyung maybe not so platonically , and help him through his rough night. That’s right, Yoongi’s just being a good friend.

When they reach the center of the floor, Taehyung pulls Yoongi close. Their bodies mesh together easily, not an inch of space available between them. They’re so close Yoongi can smell the alcohol on Taehyung’s breath, and feels the way the other’s heart is racing with adrenaline in his chest. Taehyung’s arm is wrapped around his lower back protectively, and Yoongi feels trapped but not at the same time. The music picks up in intensity, and Yoongi lets Taehyung lead the way before he can back out.

They are not dancing like good friends, more like long-lost lovers desperate to be in each other’s arms again. Taehyung is, simply put, wild. He’s moving so fast Yoongi can barely keep up, it’s desperate, slightly sloppy but definitely hot in a way Yoongi’s never experienced. They’re grinding against each other, diving into each other to feel something, anything, again.

“They’re watching us.” Taehyung chuckles, spinning him around to face the table. Yoongi’s feels exposed like this, but it’s true. For the most part, everyone looks shocked while Hoseok and Seokjin are clapping wildly. Namjoon looks a bit embarrassed, hiding his mouth behind his eyes with a slight smile.  But what really catches him off guard is the way Jimin and Jungkook are angry. Or at least that’s what it looks like. Jimin is glaring at him like he wants to kill him, his mouth set in a firm frown, but his eyes are saying something else. He almost looks… sad? And Jungkook, well. Yoongi can’t read Jungkook at all. He’s practically frozen in his seat, and Yoongi wonders if Jungkook has feelings for Taehyung as well.

Why else would he look like that?

Taehyung bends down and whispers into his ear, “Maybe we should put on a show? Hm?”

He can’t deny the shivers that rack down his spine at Taehyung’s voice, but he also doesn’t want to die. Trying to think rationally and be the responsible one, Yoongi disagrees.

“Taehyung, Jimin looks like he’s gonna kill me.”

“So what? Now he knows what it feels like. C’mon hyung, don’t let me down now.”

Yoongi gasps as Taehyung begins to trail wet kisses down his neck, sucking lightly as he goes down. Distantly he hears Hoseok wolf whistle and a brief ‘GET IT YOONGI-AH!’ from Seokjin. He’s positively overwhelmed, the sensation of Taehyung on him and his light cologne in his lungs is making his head spin. His knees buckle under him and he almost falls but Taehyung leans Yoongi against him more, securing him.

“Tae, don’t you think this is a bit much?” He groans out, trying to not get hard from his best friend. His back vibrates as Taehyung chuckles, shaking his head.

“No, hyung. I don’t. In fact, I think we can get a little more intense, don’t you?”

“Wha-?”

Abruptly, Taehyung flips him back around and before he can question just what the fuck he thinks he’s doing, he’s being kissed. Yoongi gasps in shock, Taehyung immediately taking the opportunity to lick into his mouth. Before he gets the chance to respond, Taehyung is roughly pulled away from him. He blinks at the sight of a furious Jungkook and an even angrier Jimin. He can’t even understand what’s happening until Jungkook is grabbing him by the arm and pulling him out of the bar. The last thing he sees before he’s taken is Jimin grabbing Taehyung and kissing him furiously.

What the fuck is happening?

Jungkook hauls Yoongi down two blocks before he’s able to pry himself out of Jungkook’s firm grip. As soon as he’s free, he stumbles backwards, nearly falling on his ass if it weren’t for the brick wall behind him. Heaving, Yoongi tries to calm himself down as Jungkook turns around to fix him with a glare. Seriously, what is with everyone and their glaring?

“What the fuck, Jungkook?” He hisses, shrinking himself away from the younger. Jungkook is fuming where he stands, and this is the first emotion Yoongi has ever received from him. He can’t even lie, he’s scared shitless right now. If Jungkook socks him he’s definitely going to have to go to the hospital. It’s no secret Jungkook likes to box and workout in his free time, and Yoongi’s more of a take a nap after just waking up kind of guy. Jungkook could easily fuck him up while barely lifting a finger.

“Why did you kiss him?” Jungkook growls, caging Yoongi against the wall. Yoongi tries to push at Jungkook’s chest, but Jungkook doesn’t even budge. Jungkook snatches Yoongi’s wrist in his hands, forcing him to keep his hands against the warm expanse of his chest. And wow, Jungkook is muscular-

No. Now is not the time.

“I didn’t kiss him ! He kissed me!” Yoongi argues, but even he agrees it’s a weak attempt at an argument.

“It doesn’t matter, you invited it.” Jungkook’s grip tightens around his wrists, and Yoongi whimpers at the slight pain. “You wanted him to kiss you!”

“No!” Yoongi tries to shake Jungkook off, but it doesn’t work. Truth be told, he doesn’t even understand why Jungkook cares so much. But he’s looking at Yoongi as if he just stabbed him, eyes burning with anger and a little bit of something else Yoongi can’t put his finger on. “Why do you care so much, anyway? Don’t you hate me? Do you hate me that much that I’m not even allowed to kiss my own friends?”

Yoongi doesn’t realize he’s crying until Jungkook’s hold on him loosens, and he’s lifting a hand to wipe away a stray tear that’s rolling down. Jungkook’s face softens, lips pursing as he lightly coos. Now Yoongi just feels like he’s being babied, his stomach rolling with anxiousness and butterflies. Jungkook’s never looked at him like this before, so lovingly. It’s making him overly emotional, the alcohol definitely doesn’t help either.

“I don’t hate you, baby.”

Baby. Baby. Baby.

“What- what? Yes you do, you never even talk to me! You hate being around me.” Yoongi sniffles, and Jungkook lets out another laugh, letting go of Yoongi altogether before wrapping him up in his arms. And Yoongi’s just so confused. None of this is making sense, and right now his head is spinning with all this new information. None of it matches up to his experience.

“No, I don’t. I’m sorry you felt that way, baby. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I’m just not good at emotions, you see? The first time I met you I knew you were gonna be dangerous for me, so I tried to push you away. Oh, I’m stupid aren’t I?”

Yoongi scowls, this whole situation just making him feel like he’s in some shitty fanfiction. Too cheesy.

“So what… what’re you saying?” Yoongi mumbles, relaxing into Jungkook. He can’t help the way his body just gives in. “I don’t understand.”

Jungkook cups Yoongi’s face in his hands, tilting his head up so he has no choice but to look into his eyes. Yoongi’s breath hitches at the sight, and he wraps his own hands around Jungkook’s inked ones. “I, Jeon Jungkook, like you Min Yoongi. I just have a shitty way of showing it. I like you so much, and I’m sorry.”

He likes him. Jungkook likes him. Yoongi can feel his heart stop beating, and for once his mind goes silent. But wait, what about Jimin?

“What about Jimin?” He whispers, Jungkook frowns.

“What about him?”

Now it’s Yoongi’s turn to frown. “Aren’t you- Aren’t you two together? Or have a thing? Taehyung said-”

Jungkook growls lightly at the mention of Taehyung, and Yoongi tries not to whimper at the sound. He’s an adult and he's perfectly capable of keeping his horny thoughts to himself. “No baby, don’t listen to Taehyung. There’s nothing going on between Jimin and I. He was just trying to make Taehyung jealous.” Jungkook’s face twists in disgust, “But Taehyung likes to take things too far.”

“What do you mean?”

“He had no right to touch you like that, to kiss you. He knows I like you, fucker was probably doing this to get back at me.”

Yoongi’s not a fan of being used, but honestly he was using Taehyung also so for now he’ll shove it to the back of his mind. Next time he sees him though, he’ll be sure to whack him upside the head. “Oh.”

“Never mind that, we have a lot to discuss.” Jungkook assures, “Why don’t you and I go out to breakfast and talk about it tomorrow? Clear things up?”

Yoongi nods in agreement, still very much confused but very happy that his feelings are returned.

“I guess I should go home then?”

Jungkook scoffs. “No way, baby. After that stunt you pulled in there, I’m not letting you out of my sight. You’re sleeping over mine tonight.”

And as Jungkook leads him back to his place, Yoongi can’t bite back the smile that takes over his face.

Notes:

If you made it this far, thank you! I can't even lie, I made this before I had to go to work so it was a bit rushed. If you enjoyed this fic thank you! This is a spur of the moment idea, and I may want to explore these characters more with BETTER writing but I have so many fics I need to work on.

Comments are appreciated!

Do y'all think I should continue this? Lemme know. Bye :)
