Chapter Text
Honey Lemon shuddered at the foul taste of bile in her mouth. Her arm was on the cold toilet seat, her head resting on top of it. Her bright pink phone sat on the floor beside her, discarded during the first wave of nausea.
After she had gone at least three minutes without hurling, Honey grabbed the phone and sent a quick text to Gogo. Her apartment was down the hall and if Honey was lucky, she would be awake by now. She heard the door unlock not even a minute later.
"Hey, where are you?" Gogo called out. Honey heard her loud boots on the wooden floor.
"Bathroom!" The blonde shouted back, thankful that her stomach had calmed down long enough for her to open her mouth. Her best friend appeared in the doorway, dressed in dark jeans and a leather jacket.
"What's going on? You look like a hot mess." She said, her eyebrows furrowing in disgust. Honey sighed as her friend helped her to her unsteady feet.
She caught a glance at her reflection in the mirror behind her. Her body looked small under her pink sweatpants and baggy Sanfransokyo University sweatshirt. Her hair was in a messy bun and her glasses were falling down her nose. She really did look like a mess.
"Could you do me a favour? I ran out of ginger tea and I don't feel up to going to the grocery store," Honey asked.
"I though you only drank honey lemon?" Gogo said.
"Yeah, but ginger tea is better at easing my stomach pain," Honey explained. Gogo followed her to the living room.
"You on your period?" She asked. Honey sunk into the couch and curled up with a fluffy white pillow, suddenly exhausted.
"No. Any day now though." She shut her eyes and snuggled further into the pillow.
Gogo didn’t respond, but Honey could hear her walking into the adjoining kitchen.
There was a loud crash from the kitchen and Honey’s eyes snapped open.
“Honey, you're two months late!" her best friend yelled. She stormed into the room holding a pink calendar in her face.
"Really?" Honey asked. Her mind immediately tried to come up with a logical excuse. "Maybe it's just stress. You know exams are soon, and I've been helping Cass at the cafe, and we're getting more superhero work..."
Both girls were thinking about the same cause of the late period, but neither were ready to voice it.
"How long have you been getting sick?" Gogo asked, cutting off her rant. She took a seat on the couch beside her friend.
"Three weeks." Honey mumbled, her voice muffled by her hands.
"Come again?" Gogo asked, sarcastic as always.
"Three weeks." She repeated louder. Honey Lemon lifted her face to meet her friend’s concerned gaze, her eyes widening in realisation.
"Seriously?! Why didn't you go to Baymax?"
"I didn't want to worry everyone, you’re all so busy with uni and crime fighting-"
"So have you!" Gogo yelled in frustration "You're too busy worrying about everyone else that you don't have time to take care of yourself. You need to tell us these things so we can help you. We're a team alright?"
The blonde chuckled, wiping the single tear that fell down her cheek. "I've never heard you say anything so sweet,"
"Yeah well, don't tell the others. I don't want them to think I've gone soft."
The two girls laugh softly together before falling back into a tense silence.
"I know you’re scared, but you can't keep tiptoeing around this. You need to find out.” Gogo told her, a hand on her back. Honey took a shaky breath and nodded in agreement. Gogo stood up. "Okay, stay here. Be back in a few." She closed the front door behind her, leaving Honey with the worries of how her life was going to change.
-----
The two girls waited in the bathroom together. Honey sat on the edge on the bathtub, taping her feet and fiddling with her fingers. Gogo leant on the counter, eyeing her wearily. Her watch beeped suddenly and she let out a nervous sigh.
"That's three minutes. You ready?" She asked.
Honey nodded hesitantly and they both turned their attention to the white stick sitting on the counter. It was funny to think that her whole future depended on a single tiny symbol.
Gogo picked up the test and glanced at it before quickly handing it to her friend, who took it with trembling hands. The little screen showed two, small pink lines.
Honey was pregnant.

The blonde paced around her apartment, mumbling in Spanish. Her heart thumped in her chest and her throat felt tight. She didn’t know whether she should scream or cry.
"You know you have options." Gogo pointed out.
Honey’s whole body jolted, and she stared at her with a horrified expression.
"I can't!" She exclaimed. Suddenly she couldn't stop the tears and they rolled down her face. "It's all I have of him... I can't just..."she fell to her knees and sobbed. Gogo sat next to her and let her friend cry into her shoulder. Honey knew that providing comfort wasn't her strong suit, so she was thankful for her attempt.
"It's okay," Gogo whispered. Honey clung to her, wishing desperately that she was in his arms again.
