Work Text:
It was seldom an occurrence when Keith was planet side and Lance was free. Keith traveling throughout the cosmos just to find himself taking the same path on his return. One involving sandy beaches, warm waters, and blue eyes.
All roads leading back to Lance. The boy with the pure heart and wide smile. The linchpin that held their team together with good hearted jokes and an emotional pick me up when needed. The boy who smelled of sandalwood and jasmine, whose laughter was infectious to the point that not even Keith could keep his smile at bay. The boy who longed to return home to a family; something that Keith couldn’t relate to. He had Shiro and now he had his mom. But Lance longed to return to Earth and sometimes Keith wondered why.
And who was Keith if not yet another victim to fall prey to the wicked shape of Lance's smile and pure euphoria that bubbled deep within himself and threatened to spill over? Who was Keith now? So different from the shell that Shiro found all those years ago at school. He was someone now, and the knowledge of his own growth scared him.
It was a long time before Keith realized that the life he had built around him was good enough. His found family was good enough. It took a few years of hard roads to travel, but Keith was glad he made the trip in the end. It had taken a long time for Keith to even acknowledge his feelings had gone way past those of friendship and brotherhood.
And Keith let himself fall, for he was powerless to stop himself.
