Mistyfoot is stopped first. She lets herself be stopped, really. The apprentices — making sure they survive, that is what matters. Stonefur has laid down his life to protect them. Now, she will as well.
She turns, fighting and clawing, as the apprentices run. Stonefur did not get a clean death. Maybe she will be luckier.
