Technoblade sat by the fire reading his favorite book. A small crow was perched on the back of his chair. Phil had gone out to get some extra firewood, insisting that Techno should stay behind and rest this time.
So he did.
The fire crackled gently as the heat of it's embers warmed the small room. Techno took in the scent as he felt his entire body relax into the soft cushions of the chair. The crow, nestled above Techno’s head, was one of Phil's. He stuck around the elytrian at all times and seemed to have a connection with him. He always found Phil muttering to it, and sometimes the bird would say something in response as Phil laughed. He called the crow “Brian”. It was a peculiar name, but Techno didn’t bother to question it, as the man had a flock of them following him around wherever he went. It was odd, but he accepted it in time.
Whenever Phil would leave Brian at the cabin he seemed to almost get lonely or anxious, so Techno tried to calm him by doing the same thing Phil would do. He would say a couple words to the bird as he bobbed his head in response followed by a couple of content kekw s. Eventually it became so routine to Technoblade to the point that he caught himself having conversations with him. Technoblade never admitted to it, but he admired the bird and thought it was quite adorable. Even when Phil would return from his absence to hear him conversing with the bird, giving him an odd smile as the crow flapped its way over onto Phil's hat. Techno would stare at him for a couple seconds, clear his throat and continue his task as a couple snickers erupted from the winged man.
The bird was startled from Techno’s sudden movement as it jumped up and shoved his beak pointedly in Techno’s face from above, curling his feathered body around his head and staring at him upside down.
“Sorry, sorry,” Techno hummed, raising his palms teasingly as he got up from his spot. Brian squawked as if he had been insulted.
As he walked over to the other side of the house under the bird’s annoyed watch he accidentally tripped over the white dog that was sleeping on the floor. The canine lifted his head sleepily as Techno fell and curled his body around him, catching himself on his hands so as to not accidentally crush him.
“Whoops, sorry about that buddy-”
KEKW.
Techno’s heart stopped for a split second as he was startled by the sudden outburst. He had almost screamed as the bird’s call had almost literally shook the entire house like thunder. The dog jumped up in surprise, hitting Techno in the gut and dropping him onto the floor.
KEKW KEKW KEKW came the call a second time.
When Techno had finally gotten himself upright he stared at the bird with utter shock in his red eyes.
Brian looked back at him and bobbed his head amusingly.
“I beg your pardon?” Techno whispered.
The door creaked open as a man dressed in green walked through with a bundle of fresh cut logs. He hummed and placed them to the side as he closed the door. Before he could even take off his coat he turned around and locked eyes with the startled pigman hybrid, sitting in the middle of the floor.
“W- what are you doing mate?” Phil asked as he eyes the startled man.
“He-- the bird, s- he shook the house. ” Techno stuttered. Phil gave him a confused look.
KEKW Brian shouted again.
“OH- HAA!” Phil burst out laughing, causing Techno to stare at his friend even more confused.
“How is this funny?!” The last syllable cracked a bit as the pitch in his voice rose. This only caused Phil to continue his fit.
Philza walked over to the bird and brought out his hand letting him hop into his index finger as a happy warble escaped from his throat.
“I leave for ten minutes and yer’ already giving ol’ Tech a heart attack?” Phil said to him with teary eyes. Brian hopped and bumped his head onto Phil's forehead as more giggles escaped from the man.
“I--” Techno started, and gave up. Just another thing he didn’t bother to question.
All he was happy about was that the house didn’t crumble to the ground or something.
He watched the man and the bird exchange hellos as Brian hopped and cooed in excitement of his safe return. He raised an eyebrow Phil's way as the man just laughed and waved it off.
“Yeah, he tends to do that a lot, mate,” he said.
He eyed Phil again as the bird flapped his way over to Techno and landed on his shoulder. He pecked his face apologetically and continued his little series of soft kekw s. Techno couldn’t resist the urge to giggle as well as the bird poked him.
“Alright alright, you've been forgiven ,” Techno said exasperatedly, waving Brian’s beak away from his face. The bird bobbed his head happily.
