Work Text:

Cale easily notices things.

He might come across as dense and oblivious most of the time (which is true, though Cale would never admit that to himself) but he's someone who would notice even the slightest of change in a certain young man's mood and behavior.

For that reason, he could tell Choi Han wasn't feeling good.

He seems antsy about something. And Cale hates it when Choi Han is troubled.

He's not confident about his comforting skills, and he doubts he'd be able to help even if he knew what was going on with Choi Han.

That was why...

Cale slowly approached Choi Han whose back was facing him. gently, as to not startle the latter, he wrapped his arms around his Choi Han's waist and rest his forehead on the black haired youth's shoulder.

He felt Choi Han tense at his touch, but he gradually relaxed knowing that it was Cale.

"'Baby I don't feel so good', 6 words you never understood"

Cale was someone who would refuse to sing any day. He felt like he'd embarrass all singers out there if he even attempted to especially with his bad singing. Its not that he's not confident, he just knew that he generally doesn't have any talent on this field.

It was kind of the reason why he preferred listening to others sing instead of doing it himself.

"'I'll never let you go', 5 words you never say"

Choi Han was just quietly listening to his quite voice. Cale did not dare to raise the volume more than he had to. He only made it so that only Choi Han would hear, he doesn't trust anyone else to hear him sing.

"I laugh along like nothing's wrong, four days has never felt so long"

Choi Han was someone who always understood him even with bare explanations. But for Cale, he didn't need to understand in order to tell that Choi Han needs someone. And Cale, despite the characteristics of a lazy cat, stubbornly refuse to let anyone be there for Choi Han when he can do it himself.

"If three's a crowd and two was us, one slipped away"

Cale doesn't care if there would be other people who'd pass them by, they wouldn't know what's going on. They will only see him hugging Choi Han from behind but they would never found out that Cale Henituse was singing.

It was a secret that only the two of them will ever know.

"I just wanna make you feel okay, But all you do is look the other way"

...Okay, to be fair, Cale did try to ask Choi Han what was wrong. But guess who was stubborn other than Cale himself?

Choi Han didn't—refuse to let Cale know. He most likely didn't want to bother Cale with his own problems.

What a funny guy.

Cale would always worry whether he knew or not.

"I can't tell you how much I wish I didn't wanna stay, I just kinda wish you were gay"

...Alright, its just a song Cale randomly picked to choose (he kind of panicked okay?) and it really doesn't relate to them at all.

He can't even begin to explain where the lyrics was wrong. Cale was mentally face-palming himself. Nonetheless, he continued to sing.

He started it anyway, might as well sing it until the end.

"Is there a reason we're not through? Is there a 12-step just for you?"

....Cale was starting to think maybe he had lost his mind when he chose this song. He could only hope Choi Han wasn't focusing on the lyrics, and was listening to his voice instead.

"Our conversation's all in blue, 11 'heys'"

"Ten fingers tearin' out my hair, Nine times, you never made it there"

"I ate alone at seven, you were six minutes away"

Cale took a deep breathe before he continued singing, he was really beginning to regret his own decision. Maybe singing when he doesn't even usually sing was a bad idea after all...

"How am I supposed to make you feel okay, When all you do is walk the other way?"

Cale felt his hand, that was clutched together around Choi Han's abs stomach, was being caressed by large, calloused but a warm hand.

It was the first reaction he got from the other and he doesn't know if it was something good or not.

"I can't tell you how much I wish I didn't wanna stay, I just kinda wish you..."

He didn't finish his sentence. He didn't felt the need to. The last next words he was about to sing weren't the ones he wanted to say.

'Just tell me what's wrong, you bastard'

Cale really felt the urge to curse this son of a bitch who unfortunately was the same person who has his heart.

But he suppose its fine if Choi Han really doesn't want to say it right now, there is always a next time. He just hope Choi Han would finally let him know so he doesn't feel the need to shoulder everything alone.

Both of them were silent. Choi Han simply continued to gently stroke his hand before taking it to his own and brought it to his lips. Cale instantly shot his head up just in time for him to see Choi Han placing a soft kiss on the back of his fingers.

Cale was flustered at the sudden action (without warning him beforehand, at that) but he forced himself to remain calm. He had to stay calm.

Goddamnit, Choi Han is just too much sometimes that Cale doesn't know what to say when he does...these kind of things.

"Thank you, Cale-nim"

Choi Han's words were just as quiet as Cale's voice when he sang. Both of them acting like what happened is something they would not let the world find out.

And that was true. They were both selfish. Why should they let other people know when they can keep this to themselves?

Cale only hum in response to what Choi Han had said.

Choi Han intertwined their fingers together with Cale's hand that was still resting on his stomach while he continues to hold the one he had just kissed.

Cale doesn't know if it helped Choi Han calm down after hearing his voice, but Cale noticed that he was no longer in a bad mood as before. So he suppose its fine.

Cale buried his head on the crook of Choi Han's neck. Finding their current position kind of comfortable and he doesn't feel like moving away anytime soon. Choi Han too, didn't want them to move yet.

So just like that, they remained their position not caring about anything else.

Somewhere not far away....

Alberu let out a sigh, "They're flirting again"

"Your highness, please be quiet" Rosalyn hushed while she continued to take pictures of the two idiots who decided to boldly show their supposed in-door affection out in public.

"...Stop calling me that, what's with you and Cale Henituse calling me like some prince?" Alberu complained while he too, took pictures of them as blackmail material

Someone, who was definitely uninvited on the two's accidental-stalking-spying, clasped his hand together and looked like he had definitely lost his mind.

"As expected of Cale-nim, he might be a cold person but he is someone who cares deeply about s—"

"Shut up!" Alberu and Rosalyn hissed at Clopeh.

Notes:

who said singing sad songs to your literal lover as comfort was a good idea...

haha, I wonder who did that before *avoids eye contact*
