Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

War seems to be an endless cycle that knows no bounds. There are no words to describe the horrors that you've already faced, countless lives lost, both in your arms and out on the battlefield. There's terror around every corner, and just when you think that things can't possibly get worse, your beloved Captain and a group of Troopers are captured whilst fleeing the Separatists.

The Jedi side of you is screaming at you, attempting to follow the code, to let your attachment go with the knowledge that they will either be killed, or used as bait. However, you can't help but feel for them. They are, after all, more than soldiers. They're your men, your boys, living beings who you have spent the last few years by your side. If the tables were turned, they would already be planning a way to rescue you, and now, it's your turn to try and rescue them.

Unfortunately, the odds are not in your favour. With most of your current men wounded, and the rest captured, you have little help. After a few hours of restless meditation, you decide to call on your former Master, Obi-wan, for help. He also seems to be against your odds, informing you that you must let them go, that you can be given new Troopers, that your attachment to them will only lead to deeper trouble.

It's a heavy blow to the chest, having someone that you deeply trust telling you to let them go. Sadly, you can see his viewpoint, as Jedi are not meant to cling on to anything. But you know if the tables were turned, Obi-wan would be heading straight into battle if Commander Cody was taken from him.

Thankfully, Cody supplies the help that you're after. "They're called Clone Force 99, a bunch of clones with desirable mutations. I can put you into contact with them, and they'll be more than enough help in retrieving your Troopers."

There are tears in your eyes as you thank Cody, fighting the urge to hug the kriff out of him.

Hope.

However, hope isn't exactly what you deemed it to be. You were expecting a batch of stern, emotionless, and overly-mature soldiers to drag you through this mission without question, but the second you see their ship incoming, you sense that they are going to be a wild ride.
