Chapter 1: Average morning

Chapter Text

Natsuki woke up to the sound of her alarm clock. “Urghhhh shut uppp” she said, hitting the stop button. She looked at the clock, the time read 7:30, one hour before school started. Natsuki lugged herself out of bed and walked into the hallway, carefully peeking her head around the corner to look into her fathers room, she let out a sigh of relief. He had already left for the day. Finally being able to relax she waltzed into the bathroom to get ready. Once she was ready she walked downstairs to a completely trashed living room. Her father must have had a….rough night. Natsuki didn't get to see what happened, her father had returned well past midnight, most likely at a bar. The only reason she knew he had come home was from the loud crashes she heard. She looked over towards the small table next to the couch. Next to it on the floor was a shattered vase. That’s probably what all that commotion was she thought to herself. Natsuki pulled out her phone, the time read 7:50. “Well, it's not like anyone else was gonna clean up this mess,” said Natsuki as she pulled out a broom from behind the couch. It was just Natsuki and her father who lived in their apartment, well that and the girls he’d occasionally pick up from the bar, but they didn’t ever end up staying over long though. The apartment wasn’t inherently nice, in all honesty it was a total dump, but between her fathers barely minimum wage office job and his alcohol addiction, it was the best they could afford. Natsuki dumped the broken glass into a plastic bag before chucking it into the garbage can. She checked her phone again 8:05 “Hmmm I wonder if Sayori left yet” Sayori was one of Natsuki's closest friends, they met each other in their club, the literature club. Sayori instantly clung to Natsuki, maybe it was because of the cute characters on the covers of her mangas or maybe it was from her baking but her and Sayori were practically inseparable at school, which just so happened to work out for them as they had multiple common classes this semester. Natsuki walked out of her apartment and across the street and was soon met with Sayori’s street. Natsuki had been to Sayori’s place so many times already knew which house was Sayori’s. Before Natsuki even had the chance to knock, Sayori bursted through the door. “Wahhhh! Crap! I’m gonna be so late!” Her hair was a mess, her bow was sliding down her head, her tie was undone and her blazer only had one button done. Sayori nearly jumped back when she saw Natsuki “Wahhhh! Natsuki! You almost gave me a heart attack!” “I almost gave you a heart attack?” “Haha sorry….rough morning….not to mention how late I’m ru- Crap! I’m running so late!’ “Huh?” Natsuki pulls out her phone “It’s only 8:10” “What? But my alarm said…Oh! I must have accidentally messed it up last night when I unplugged it! Whoops!’ Natsuki rolled her eyes, despite being younger than Sayori she always felt like an older sister picking up after Sayori. Not that she minded of course, she always wanted a sister and Sayori felt like the sister she never had. “Hehe, sorry about that! Like I said...rough morning” Said Sayori as she tried to fix her blazer. Natsuki snorted “I can tell, '' she said while fixing Sayori’s hair. And with that the two of them walked to school, talking and giggling about whatever. Sayori and Natsuki make it the school with 15 minutes to spare “Hmmm, maybe I should keep my alarm clock like this! It’s nice being on time” Said sayori Natsuki giggles “Mmmmm I’m hungry!” said Sayori as she walked over to a vending machine “want anything Nat?” “Oh, no I don’t have any money on me” “Don’t be silly! You bake for me all the time! Think of it as payback!” “If that were the case you’d owe me 20 bags of chips” Sayori purses her lips ‘Hmphh so mean! And to think I’m doing a nice thing for you!” she said giggling. Sayori then put 300 yen into the machine and bought 2 bags of honey butter chips, the bags came out of the slot and Sayori tossed one to Natsuki. Both Natsuki and Sayori tear into their bags immediately. By the time the two of them finished their snack it was time for first period “Oh yay...time for math” said Natsuki rolling her eyes “I have Bio, I’ll see you next period though!” Sayori quickly hugged Natsuki before running off to her classroom. Natsuki grumbled while she walked to her class, urghhh I hate math, and the stupid teacher. But she quickly remembered that the pretty girl, Yuri from the literature club, was also in her math class. Natsuki and Yuri didn’t talk very often because she usually ends up reading with M/C but she still enjoyed being able to talk to her when she could. With that thought in mind Natsuki sprinted up the stairs and stumbled into her classroom. The subtle chatter suddenly stopped and everyone stared at Natsuki, including Yuri. “Aha…. morning...uh….everyone” said Natsuki between breaths Yuri giggled. Everyone had basically forgotten about Natsuki and continued on with their previous conversations. Natsuki took her seat behind Yuri’s and just as she was about to talk to her, “Morning class!” Mr. Shoya, her Math teacher, had walked in. Damn…oh well I can talk to her during the club I guess. And just like that an average day at school had begun.
