Work Text:
The three juniors had been patiently waiting for this day since the past five days now. They were done with their exams, and had been waiting for their respective boyfriends' exams to be over, which was a painful five days wait. The post celebratory drinks they had been planning had to take a raincheck, since the seniors didn't want all of them to go all out and them not being able to be there in case of an emergency, which was a gentler way of saying they didn't want them to get drunk when they wouldn't be there to save their drunk asses. So, they negotiated and settled with friendly sleepovers as celebrations until their partners were done with their exams too. And today, the day was here.
"Here's to making it through yet another exam season we thought would screw us over"
Manaow toasted, the third round of shots were in their hands now, them raising it all to cheers.
They were all pleasantly buzzed, enjoying their freedom and stress free evening. Manaow was clearly over the moon, Pharm looked tipsy too.
Dean and Pruk too had drinks in their respective hands, however the quantity in the glass remained more or less the same, worrying more about their significant others' state.
Win on the other hand, always had good capacity when it came to drinking. He was experienced in this aspect too, and over years of rebellion, getting drunk when he wasn't supposed to had its own adrenaline rush for a younger Win. So, the idea of getting drunk often wasn't as exciting anymore, especially now that he had to lookout for a certain junior who could get drunk over two sips of alcohol, no matter the alcoholic content.
This brings us to Team, who is three shots down, way past his limit and clearly drunk. Not tipsy, not buzzed - straight up drunk.
Win knew it would be hard handling him and they came by Team's car too, hence he chose to stay sober. However, Team's growing excitement and enthusiasm over the drinks that kept being replenished was a growing concern for him.
"Oh please Manaow, who said it didn't screw us over? I was screwed, and definitely not by the one I wanted you know" Team added and his comment was followed by a giggle as he glanced naughtily towards win, wiggling his eyebrows.
Win almost choked on his Sprite as he heard the statement made by Team, insinuating that they didn't get quite the action these past days. Drunk Team surely doesn't have a filter on his mouth. Sober Team doesn't either, but a sober team is ten times shyer and more reserved when it came to private topics like their sex life.
Win was sure he never even spoke a lot about it even when he was with just Manaow and Pharm, as Manaow so complained about Team being so self conscious even with his best buds, she nagged him to give them some 'hot sizzling sexy tea' as she would so call it, to which Team would either flip a finger or retort a classic "I don't kiss and tell" to make her shut up.
"Oh my god Teammmmmm you wanted to be screwed by P'Win and you got screwed by the exams instead, that's literally so funny " Manaow commented, laughing giddily.
"It is funny, isn't it Hia? let's fuck tonight" Team leaned in and whispered in his ears, added with another giggle.
Win's heart seemed to be doing somersaults at this point, and he knew Team had to be taken home, as soon as possible. Or the next thing he knew they would be toasting to their favorite positions over the next round.
"Okay baby, let's get you home now" Win replied, gently rubbing his hand over Team's arm in an attempt to warm him, as he knew Team would be feeling cold from the AC right above them, and the goosebumps that blanketed his skin proved that he was right
"But Hiaaaa no not now. I'm having fun, I don't wanna go home yet" Team huffed, as he hugged Manaow like kid does to a mother.
Team hugging Manaow was definitely an indication that his will to stay was strong and he needed a stronger incentive to make him agree. Manaow on the other hand gladly accepted his embrace and lightly patted his head like one does to a puppy.
Luckily, Win knew exactly what would do the job. Win made him sit straight first and then started his plan of action.
"I'll get you two packets of lays and promise to make you the lays omelette that you've been raving about, the recipe that you saw on Tiktok" Win whispered into his ears cause of the music in the background.
Hearing lays twice in a sentence did it for Team, as Win now saw Team stare into the air, zoning out. He blinked once, and then twice and slowly turned to face Win.
"Hia you would do that? for me?" Team asked, with the softest twinkling puppy eyes, his facial expression showing how the offer made by Win touched his heart deeply.
Win chuckled to himself. Its moments like these that makes him just want to squish the hell out of Team's cheeks and kiss him all over the face and put him in his pocket and - you get the point.
Sure, Team was drunk, but he seemed so touched by the idea of lays omelette and lays in general, it did things to Win's heart yet again.
"Yes baby, breakfast in bed just for you. Accompanied by hot chocolate, and a side of me of course" Win said, as he was now able to hold team up straight, without getting any resistance from his side.
The table of friends were all busy with their own partners to see the two get up. Dean was busy asking pharm if he needed anything as he rested on his shoulder, and Manaow showing something to Pruk on her phone rather enthusiastically.
"Guys, I'm gonna take Team home now. Make sure to text in the group once you all reach home yeah?" Win announces.
"Drive safe Win" Pruk replies
"see you tomorrow" Dean says, nodding.
"Bye Manaow, bye bye Pharm" Team slurred, as he raised his first two fingers and gave them a salute. Win did not know what was that all about, but he didn't question. He had a bigger task at hand. Getting them home.
With that, they headed out.
During the ride Team leaned his head against the side of the car, which seemed so uncomfortable as his head kept bumping gently every now and then, but Win knew he wouldn't listen to him so he didn't even try. The night air was pleasantly cold as the cool breeze enveloped them through the window.
Win drove slowly and carefully, knowing Team might feel nauseous. Team on the other hand, had his hand outside the window, moving it in waves, being dramatic.
"Hands inside Team" Win scolded.
Team did not listen. It was like scolding a kid. A big nineteen year old kid.
"Team I'm being serious hands inside or no lays and breakfast in bed tomorrow" Win warned
"Fine" Team huffed, folding his arms across his chest, showing clear signs of annoyance as he looked out.
Win sighed. His boy sure was a handful. Then blushed, realising he used the words 'his boy' in his head.
"Are you angry, baby ?" Win asked gently.
Team, let out a big 'hmph' and looked outside.
Soon enough, he went to sleep.
**
"Team wake up we're home" Win shook him gently.
After a few tries, Team woke up with a big smile on his face. Well, seems like the nap made him forget that he was pissed off, which relieved Win.
"We're home?" he asked, with a wide smile and half opened eyes as he stretched a little in the compact car.
"Yes baby, come I'll help you"
With quite a hustle, they made it to the elevator. Team looked like he was thinking something and he smiled to himself.
"Are you that happy?" Win asked, admiring his boyfriend. He really couldn't fathom how someone could get that drunk with that little amount of alcohol.
Team looked up at him.
"I'm drunk, I'm happy, I'm in love. I love you. I'm in love with you Hia" Team confessed and Win could swear he could feel the ground beneath him shake, in this case the elevator's floor.
"You what?" he asked
"I love you. I'm in love with you" Team smiled, and shortly after he slapped his palm against his mouth, eyes wide in shock.
" Shit! I did it! I need to tell Hia. I need to tell him I finally told Hia I loved him. I did it!" Team mumbled with excitement as he reached for his phone. In his drunk and confused state, he somehow unlocked his fingerprint in one go and put the phone against his ears. They were the elevator, which is probably why his network was acting up as his face slowly slipped into one from ecstatic to sad.
" I can't call Hia. I need to tell him that I finally said it. Hia my phone ! can I borrow yours? I need to tell him, he'll be so proud" Team reached to him with worry laced in his voice.
The past minute or two seemed to be the longest minute of Win's life. Heck, this elevator ride seemed to be never ending. Win watched team frantically ask him for his phone, and win just stood there, and finally hugged him tight. He knew they were in the elevator, but he just did not care. He needed to hold him.
He felt he could cry, he was so happy, even though a part of him knew Team was drunk and a part of him feared that he didn't mean it.
But the fact that Team was so happy that he finally confessed had to mean that he was planning to do it for a while but couldn't for some reason right? And the fact that Team wanted Win to be the first to know that he ironically confessed to Win seemed to make Win's heart flutter, Team wanted to give him good news first. He was the person Team wanted to go to first, no one else. Win was Team's person.
Needless to say, Win felt a tornado of emotions and thoughts within a matter of a few minutes. Only Team could do that to him, he knew. He could now just hope and pray that Team meant the words he said and not regret it tomorrow morning.
Team relaxed into Win's hug and they stayed there like that until they reached their floor, which didn't take much longer.
He tried shaking Team off so that they could get moving but once again, Team didn't seem to budge. So Win let him lean against him and managed to unlock the door to his room, and put Team to bed.
He took off team's shoes and socks, followed by his jeans with much effort cause Team was passed out. Both Win and Team had a habit of changing into comfortable clothes after getting back because they both couldn't stand the discomfort caused by jeans.
"Team, wake up and have some water come on" he said, putting his arm around Team's back, pushing him up.
Team whined and mumbled something, turned his face away.
"One sip, please?" Win asked, hoping he would hear him. Team opened his eyes, squinting. He saw Win's expression, a pang of guilt hit him.
Giving a nod as an agreement, he saw Win smile as he raised the glass of water to his face. He took a sip.
"One more" Win took his chance.
Team gave him a glare, but took a second sip nevertheless. With that, he slumped back on bed, leaving Win satisfied. With eyes closed and almost in slumber, team said
" I'm sorry I'm so difficult to handle Hia. Next time, I promise I won't drink. Won't even look at it, while you can have fun. I'll be the responsible one, and take care of you" With that, he passed out for the nth time that night.
Win shook his head, and smiled at how thoughtful he was even in this state. Sure team was quite something to handle when he was drunk, considering it took him just two sips to get there but Win knew he would much rather handle him and make sure he's safe. Its just how he is, he cares; and when it comes to Team, everything is okay as long as he knows he's safe, healthy and happy.
With that, he called it a night himself as he got under the covers once he was changed. Team instantly shifted and hugged him which like always, never failed to amaze him. How did he know that win was in bed next to him even in his passed out state that he would always hug him? It always felt like an instant reaction, on the rare nights when win returned after a late library study session and found team already asleep, he would without fail cuddle up to Win and gather his warmth even if he was deep in slumber.
**
The next morning however, Win got to work, making a short trip to the nearest convenience store to grab Team's daily motivation, i.e lays, and some other necessities he was running out of.
Once back home, he got to chef mode and started whipping up the omelette and hot chocolate to fulfil his promise last night. He made sure to watch the Tiktok video of the recipe team sent to him at least seven times before trying it on his own, he wanted it to be perfect.
Although it was quite some work, he was grateful that it kept him distracted. Well, almost kept him distracted. Someway or the other his worries kept creeping up even with his utmost concentration on the dish.
Win was hesitant and uncertain. How was he supposed to act? If Team didn't remember that he confessed last night, should he make him remember? If Team does remember last night and acts awkward about the whole situation (basically regrets it), what would he do?
Although they'd been 'together' long enough, Win was hopeful he wouldn't regret it, but he couldn't help but have those constant 'what ifs' knocking on the door of the room in his mind which occupied the possibility of Team not regretting his confession, like an unannounced guest.
So, Win decided to go with the flow. What else could he do? If Team regrets, he regrets. If Team didn't, then cool he didn't. Right? Fuck it. Whatever happens, happens. Win decided he'll act according to Team. If the junior pretended not to remember, he would forget it happened. If he would say he didn't mean it and made a mistake, Win would understand. He thinks he's used to this by now. It can't hurt him.
" Good morning sunshine. How's the Hangover ?" Win chirped, as he opened the curtains.
" Hiaaaa nooo" a muffled groan was heard from under the duvet.
" Come on, I've made breakfast for you- like I promised last night" Win said, carefully adding the latter part of the sentence.
Team was now sitting on the bed, and he looked up at the mention of last night. He nodded and removed the duvet to get up as he announced he'd be back after brushing his teeth.
Win nodded, and let out a hopeless sigh once Team was in the bathroom. Win knew something irked inside team when he looked up at the mention of last night. Slowly, his fears felt like they were coming true.
Team stayed silent for the most part, even though they were eating the lays omelette (which to Win's surprise turned out so good. The crispiness of the chips was a perfect complement for the softness of the omelette, and Win was relieved he put less salt as the saltiness from the lays perfectly balanced out the lack of seasoning. But, more on that later) and hot chocolate, all the things Team loved.
"Did you like it? I tried making it exactly like the video you sent me. Should I heat up the hot chocolate for you if its turned cold?"
Team shook his head to all of Win's concerns and questions.
"This is great Hia, Thank you so much for making all this for me. I really appreciate it." Team replied, sipping on his hot chocolate.
Win smiled. Atleast the smaller worries of Team liking the breakfast he made or not were washed by a sigh of relief.
"Hia?" Team asked
"hmm?" Win replied, busy on the fork which cut the shared omelette into smaller bites.
"I'm sorry for last night" Team said, and in that moment, Win swore he could feel his heart thumping like a drum.
So this was it huh? Team really did regret it. He had already appologized for being drunk last night so this was definitely not it. He meant the confession. He was sorry about the confession.
Okay. It's not like Win already didn't seem it coming. He was fine. He would be fine.
Win nodded, not daring to look up. He did not want to cry and he was trying SO hard to hold it in.
So, he continued looking down. To keep himself occupied, he went back to cutting the omelette into bite size pieces, as he took a breath to calm himself down.
" It's okay, I understand" Win replied after a while, not daring to look up.
"huh? you do?" Team replied, confused.
" Its alright Team. I understand that it was a mistake. You don't have to feel bad about it. We can pretend it never happened. Don't worry about it" Win replied, keeping himself busy with the fork in his hand, working on the omelette.
"Hia what are you going on about? I'm sorry for confessing to you when I was drunk you idiot. Actually I was the idiot for doing it then but never mind. I wanted to tell you when I was - well for starters, sober. I wanted it to be sincere, and hopefully romantic. Not some Drunk slur in an elevator. God Hia I'm so stupid, I'm so sorry for not being sincere with my confession. But I'm sober now, you're too. I love you Hia. I promise to show you that I do and say it more often and mean it. I love you" Team finished, trying hard so that he could get his thoughts properly expressed, something that he struggled with which resulted into drunken confession like last night's.
Win looked up the first time ever since this conversation started. His eyes were red, to the brink of tears escaping. But he couldn't keep up as a tear found its way and he looked down again, trying to be subtle with wiping it away.
" Hia, why are you crying?" Team asked, shifting the tray of plate away, immediately sitting right next to win with no gap in between them.
He looked down to find his face, but Win didn't look up. Team took his face and lifted it up. He grabbed his sweater paws of his long sleeved tee and brought it to Win's face to wipe the tears away.
He waited to Win to speak, carefully holding his hands.
" I'm-I'm sorry for crying. Shit." Win managed to utter
" You don't have to be sorry for anything, especially for crying. But why are you crying? can you tell me?" He asks, softly.
"Its stupid" Win replied, clearly vulnerable.
"More stupid than me last night? I'm sure not" team tried making him smile.
Win let out a long sighed as he started.
" I- I just thought you regretted saying it. The entire morning it was eating me up thinking what if you made a mistake. When you said sorry I thought it was because you regretted saying you loved me - regretted loving me" Win adds the latter with a momentary pause.
Team felt his heart breaking, shattering into pieces. Regret saying that he loved him? Heck, regret loving him? Is that even possible? It seemed so absurd that even the possibility of him regretting didn't feel like a possibility to him at all.
He knew he needed to reassure Win, and although not best with wording his feelings, he wanted to make him understand just how wrong he was.
"Hia, look at me" Team said, urging Win to look up. When Win's eyes met his, he continued.
"I know I said it when I was not in my best state but I'm saying it now. I love you, Hia. I'm in love with you. I do a shit job at expressing my feelings and even worse job at making it romantic, but for all I know and for all I've come to know about myself is that I love you. It's impossible not to. Have you ever seen yourself? You're so loveable that I'm scared of just how many others love you, but I promise you one thing, no one else will love you like I do. I'm sorry if you felt I regretted last night, cause the only thing I do regret is not making you feel special enough. God even if there's a parallel universe out there where we maybe enemies, I'll still love you. Okay? Don't you ever doubt that"
Team finished, as he regained his breath. Win looked at him in an awe and it struck Team like a lightening just how much he let out in a blabber, how many times did he use the three words in 2 minutes? Fuck. Team, what a fucking idiot, he thought to himself.
It was his chance to panic and boy, was he panicking. Why did he have to go to such extremes? Couldn't he be fucking normal for once?
Win could practically see the train of thoughts whizzing past his mind at full speed as he smiled wide. He took the younger boy's face and kissed him.
The kiss felt like the three words were being poured into the action. After feeling Team calm into the kiss, Win pulled back. He looked at Team's face, who had his eyes closed. So beautiful, god, Win was so lucky, he thought to himself.
He kissed him again, and made sure it was everything he wanted to convey. After a good two minutes or more, they pulled away.
"I love you too. If it wasn't obvious from the kiss, I love you Team. Thank you for everything. I love you so much" Win replied, as he rested his forehead against his. Team pulled back and kissed Win's forehead, and laid his forehead against him once again.
They stayed there for a while and pulled back, both blushing.
Team being Team, didn't know how to react and fiddled with the duvet.
"Well, so much for my effort. The food is all cold now, I'm sure the chips became soggy" Win complained.
"Worry not Hia. When food is involved, I'm here to save the day" Team replied, as he reached out his hand and took the packet of lays that Win got for him seperately from the bag of groceries.
Win saw as he opened the pack and poured a few over the now cold omelette.
He then took a bite with the freshly opened lays and the cold omelette and smiled wide.
"See, good as new" He replied, munching away.
"Let me reheat the hot chocolate at least" Win sighed. Team knew how much effort Win had put into it and he wouldn't let anything make it go to waste, not even a heavy heart to heart confession.
" Tssk Hia haven't you seen Tiktok? These days cold hot chocolate is the trend. Let's add some ice into it and see what the craze is all about"
Team replied, as Win shook his head.
This boy and his love for Tiktok, food from Tiktok videos and just food in general. He got up to fetch some ice.
No matter how irrational and weird it was to add ice and break the very concept of hot chocolate in the first place, Team wanted it. So, hot chocolate with ice it is from now on, or not if he decided he didn't like it.
Once he returned, he saw Team snap a few pictures of the breakfast platter, and quickly hid his phone as soon as he saw Win.
He knew Team was a softie inside, so it was no surprise if he had a gallery full of Win's pictures and memories created by them, or so Win hoped.
He would love to have mornings like these more often, Win concluded, as they carried on with their culinary adventures.
