Summary
The whole post is perfect. It's a beautiful tribute to their relationship and their love; each photo is a snapshot of the reality of their life together. Flicking through them, Ilya doesn't think anyone could possibly continue to doubt their love - not when it is right there for everyone to see: in the photos, in the moments captured, in the words Shane had carefully typed out that so clearly held his heart.
As a surprise for Ilya's birthday, Shane posts a beautiful collection of photos showcasing candid moments of their life together. (Proving the people insisting their relationship is a PR stunt wrong is just a bonus.)

Summary
Oh. He’s ducking under the covers, under Ilya’s shirt, crawling up until he’s fully inside it—head pillowed safely on Ilya’s chest. The love that rushes through Ilya feels catastrophic, and he chokes with it. “Shane,” his voice trembles. Ilya pulls him closer, always closer. “Shane.”
Shane makes a high, soft noise in his throat, burrowing deeper into Ilya—almost like he’s trying to crawl inside Ilya’s body. Ilya would let him, if it were possible. Would carve out a place for Shane within himself, offer it with his bruised and bloody palms. Here, all of this—is for you. Shane makes that noise again—soft, pleading, like a whine—and Ilya succumbs, is helpless to.
He recognises it for the wordless plea it is, and gives Shane exactly what he wants. “Shanebug,” Ilya says softly, and Shane melts into his chest, every last string holding him up cut. “I love you.”
—a nickname, and all the love that comes with it.

Everything was almost perfect.
The Centaurs were already having their best season in two decades, Shane had fit right in and was killing it on the ice, Ilya was married to the love of his life, and they finally didn't need to hide anymore.
And yet…there was one thing standing in the way of perfection, and Ilya was trying very hard not to think about it too much in case it gave him a heart attack.
Shane had been playing for the Centaurs, in Ottawa, with Ilya, for six weeks now and he still hadn't moved in.

“Is just the new routine, okay?” Ilya pleaded, his voice breaking. “The pills were working and now there is more stress so I just need to get used to it and will be fixed, okay?”
“How bad is it?”
“Shane, please.”
“Ilya, you promised no more secrets, no more hiding. How bad?”
He covered his face in his palms, his elbows resting on his knees, and took in a shuddered breath. “...bad.”

Summary
Ilya knew that he had just been conjuring up worries due to his own insecurities, and knew better than to take those out on Shane. At least he should.
Then why had he not been able to get over it? Whenever he spent time with Shane everything was as beautiful and loving as it had been. He felt calm, collected, like it had just been one big misunderstanding. But then, the second he left, those suspicions crept back in.
Shane tries to surprise Ilya. It goes terribly wrong. (Until it doesn't.)
