Work Text:

Percy knows, before anyone else does, that his youngest brother has something dark in him. So he does what he supposed he’s meant to do. He stays by the youngest son of the Weasley familiy’s side and offers him support for the festering darkness in him. He’s Ronald’s favorite brother.

He’s the third to know of the same darkness in the Boy-Who-Lived and who he considers the most brilliant witch this decade. Percival Ignatius Weasley becomes the one who guides them from Dumbledore’s influence, shows them what this world is really about. He’s the one behind most things, and Harry Potter and Hermione Granger come to think of the only other Weasley on their side as their older brother.

Percy is the one who warns his younger siblings of Voldemort inhabiting one of the Professors bodies. He’s the one who warns them of the Dark Lord going after the Sorcerer’s Stone. He comes in handy, even when not there. He’s the one who taught Ron everything he knows of Wizard Chess, and Ron becomes the first person to beat Minerva McGonagall’s chess board.

Percy is the one who tells Hermione all about the professors at Hogwarts. She sucks all of the information up, storing it away. Her smile grows more dangerous the more he speaks, and he revels in the fact he’s successfully gotten Hermione completely on their side, and she now lacked her once strong morals.

Percival Ignatius Weasley figures out what Scabbers is, and he warns his youngest brother. He delves farther into his research and teaches Ron all about rituals and sacrifices. He’s the sole person who gets Ron interest in blood sacrifices, and the reason why his youngest brother starts worshiping the gods of death.

He holds the Boy-Who-Lived in his arms and whispers comforting words as he thinks of ways to end the boy’s aunt and uncle. The cousin could live, since it was of his parents influence he turned out that way. He, the third eldest son of the Weasley Family, is one of Harry Potter’s three outlets. He’s the one who risks himself to research Voldemort and tell Harry about his being a horcrux.

Molly and Arthur think there’s something wrong with Percy and Ron. The two brothers agree that the only thing wrong is the fact they are Weasleys, and not their own people. The four agree to all change their last name when given the chance.

Percy watches the developing relationship between his brother and Neville Longbottom, and smiles proudly as Ron tells him all about his confession to the Longbottom boy, and how Neville had shared his feelings. Neville is on their side in no time, and Percy takes great pleasure in teaching the boy about the more dangerous plants in the Wizarding World.

He and Ron wave to the three as they head back to the Burrow. It’s Ginny’s first year next year. Percy winced as he realizes she may never get the hint that Harry is aromantic.

They go back the next year. Something is wrong. Snape is glaring at Harry. Percy sits on edge the entire first week. Ginny had a diary where she talks to someone named Tom. Ron and Hermione are suspicious of this Tom, and Harry is avoiding the youngest Weasley like the plague.

Neville is scared. Percy is scared. Ron is scared. Hermione is scared. Harry is scared. Dumbledore is plotting. Ginny is oblivious. Something is going to happen and their is no way to stop it.

The Chamber of Secrets is open. Harry doesn’t care, he’s seen many horrors. Percy, Ron and Neville don’t care, they are pure-blooded. Hermione doesn’t care, she is more dangerous than it will ever be. But the snake takes Ginny, and her brothers will not stand for it.

They hunt this snake down, and after killing it, Percy allows his companions to take the fame. When asked, he simply replies that he wants to be an background force in the whole scheme. His four underclassmen agree, and he is their guide for the rest of their time at Hogwarts.

The five agree on the last name Hollis. It’s odd, but the five prefer it over anything else. They will wait until the entire group is old enough to change their last names and become their own people.

The rest of the years pass by in a blur, and even when he has graduated Hogwarts, Percy continues to be a driving force of the four kids he had saved from themselves so many years ago. He had learned the locations of the horcuxes easily, playing Dumbledore like Ron plays a chess game. With absolute ease. Neville would’ve been better suited, he has always been more manipulative.

The champion game hurts to watch. His younger siblings were all participating. Ron and Hermione almost died. Neville is sobbing next to him, fearing for his partners life. They all live. Cedric Diggory does not.

Delores Umbridge is a rotten toad. Percy hates her. He hates her even more when he finds out what detention with her means. He tells Ron that Umbridge with do nicely for a ritual. His younger brother agrees.

They never find the body of one Delores Jane Umbridge, and Percy claps his brother on the back as Neville smiles happily. Harry is laughing, and Hermione’s smile is feral.

Percy tells the supposed ‘Golden Trio’ where the horcuxes hide. They leave not long after. Neville tells them to take care, and Percy tells them they cannot die. They come back the next year with victorious grins. Percy has never been prouder.

The Weasleys think Percy is a traitor because he doesn’t share their ideals. He leaves to focus on the Ministry. He wants to clear the Minister position for Hermione. He does.

Ron is growing darker, and Percy offers his support for his younger brother, and tells him he will always be there. Neville and Ron get engaged a month later.

Draco Malloy kills Albus Dumbledore. Percy pretends to be sad. He does not care, even as he holds the weeping Ginny in his arms. Percy does not care. He knows his true family doesn’t either.

Percy saves Fred’s life. He has to lose his crushed leg. He is fine, and Fred is safe. He is fine. Percy is not fine.

Neville is very good with a sword. He wields one like an extension of his body. Nigini never saw him coming. Percy is proud his brother fell in love with someone like Neville.

Voldemort rises, but it is not the Dumbledore and his students. It is to Harry James Potter and his family. It is the Ronald Bilius Weasley, Hermione Jean Granger, Neville Frank Longbottom and Percival Ignatius Weasley. He never stood a chance.

Harry doesn’t get the killing shot in. He doesn’t want to. Neville does what he was meant to do and decapitates the Dark Lord with no hesitation, shaking the people around them with the brutality of the cowardly boy.

Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville are celebrated for their heroism. Ron is grimacing the entire time. Neville looks uncomfortable. Harry seems a few minutes away from crying in anger. Hermione looks like she wants to scream. Percy ushers them away when no one is looking.

The five flee England. They end up in Canada. They lose contact with their families. It takes only a few years before Potter, Longbottom, Granger and Weasley are no more. In their place stands only Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Percy Hollis. Ron and Neville get married.

They move in as neighbors, and are incredibly happy with their new lives. There is no magic here. Percy is glad his family is free. He decided not to tell them about the letters from Charlie. Rituals like the ones Ron performed are legal there, now. Just not as dangerous.

They go back to England, since Hermione was offered the Minister position. The Weasleys try to have a happy reunion with their two children, but Ron decided he doesn’t want to be associated with them. Percy agrees. Molly is heartbroken, but Percy doesn’t care. He ignores his mother’s sobs and the twins angry yells as he and his brother walk off.

Hermione wants to rule the world, Percy finds. He is fine with that. He encourages her, and tells her all the ways she can.

It was only on the first year anniversary of their move back to England that Percy is told something he doesn’t expect.

Percy is an inspiration to these kids. He is what they want to be for younger people. Percy only smiles and tells them to do what they wish. He does not care.

Neville and Ron adopt a little girl and name her after him. Her name is Ignis. Ignis Jean Hollis. Hermione cries when she hears. Harry laughs along with his best friend.

Percy later marries his sweetheart from Hogwarts. Oliver Wood is a very kind man, and Percy has fallen hard. The four kids he practically raised, and his darling litte niece, are the only people to attend for his side of the family. Oliver’s family is huge and very accepting. So they love Percy and his family.

Ignis is a sweetheart, and thankfully, wants nothing to do with Weasleys, despite their best efforts. She doesn’t like them, not because she knows what they’d done to Percy and Ron, but because they were copying her dad and uncle. Neville laughed so hard he started crying, and Harry wasn’t far behind. Hermione only snorted loudly between giggles.

Percy is fine. He has his family, his husband and their dog. He’s went no contact with the Weasleys, and he got his redemption saving Fred’s life. Percy is fine, he is happy and he will never hurt like that again.

Harry introduces his cousin to them. Ron glares but he knows why Dudley turns out the way he did. Hermione is already friendly with him. Neville is his first actual friend out of the group, though. Percy still acts as the older brother.

Dudley is friendly. He can stay. He moves in with Harry, and the two bond. They are happy. That’s all Percy needs. He likes seeing the cousins bond. Ron agrees with him, and so do Ignis and Neville.

They live happily. Percy doesn’t need to guide anyone anymore, but they still come to him. Ron teaches Ignis a bunch of rituals. She goes to Hogwarts, where Hermione had take the Headmaster position. It’s a wonder she wasn’t overworked, but she says it’s just another step in taking over the whole of Britain, and then the world.

Percy smiles. The darkness in Ron had grown, but now it was a more content darkness. There was no more evil to destroy. The darkness in Harry had settled, and he was left with the urge to create more spells and rituals. Hermione was power hungry, but she wasn’t a bad person. Quite the opposite. Neville was calm, content. He was the perfect balance between the other three. Percy had done very well where he led them.

Because at the end of the day, Percival Ignatius Hollis-Wood is merely a guide, and he is completely content with that role. He’s done his job. He is happy, and so is his family. That’s really all he needs.
