Lan Wangji taps on the keyboard with her elegant fingers. Currently, she is in her room working instead of in her office. If you ask her why, it’s because of monthly visits. The woman is usually strong and has good self control. But whenever she gets these visits, she suddenly feels kinda emotional, feeling cranky and doesn’t want to interact with anybody or speak with them.
In other words, these visits makes her quite unreasonable when it comes. Suddenly, someone calls her. So she picks up her phone and answers it not looking at the caller ID.
"Apologies. I am quite preoccupied at the moment.“
When the person responds, she immediately regret what she said. Turns out, it was Wei Ying who called.
See? Menstrual period makes her unreasonable. She can only thank God that the man didn't take offense at what she said and immediately understood the words however short it was and didn’t ask further. He just said some good luck words before saying goodbye.
After the man hung up, she suddenly felt sad about not being able to speak with him further. It’s just that she’s kind of afraid to let the man know this side of her. You know. Weak and cranky. So she decided not to stop Wei Ying from hanging up the call.
Even though she already let the man see a few of her vulnerable sides, she thinks she should lie low on letting the man witness those sides of hers. She can’t be feeble all the time in his eyes. She doesn’t want to be some damsel in distress. She wants to be some kind of like a Disney princess she likes to watch in her free time ( the one she decided to look up on Netflix and watch after Wuxian mentioned how he loves to watch Disney princesses when he was young and how he still loves to watch them sometimes ). Most especially Mulan and Pocahontas. Yes. She definitely like to be those kinds of characters.
Then stomach cramps enters the scene. Ugh..
The woman decides to pause from working and lie down on the bed. She’ll just sleep this and maybe, she’ll be fine once she wakes up.
But before she can reach her bed, she felt the pain increase.
Damn. Maybe she should drink painkillers first.
But when she searched up for the medicine in her cabinet, she found out that she ran out of it. Just great! Due to her busyness lately she forgot to buy some medicine when it ran out the last month. Guess it’s time to do a short visit to the grocery store and buy other necessities she ran out of.
After doing a quick change, she went out of the house. She walks slowly as she felt a bit dizzy from the cramps. She tries not to wince every step she makes keeping her usual blank face.
As she walks, she suddenly notice something white down the road. When she got close, she sees that it was a tiny kitten, looking up at her. Slowly, she went down and decides to pet it. She let out a smile when the cat let her pet. Usually, kittens would shy away whenever someone touches it and runs away. So she's glad it stayed with her.
She got so preoccupied at petting the kitten she didn’t even notice that there was a motorbike stopping a feet away from where she was. She only startle internally when she heard the owner of the bike speak.
“How I wish I was that little kitten down there.“ she looks up to see who it was.
“That way I can be the one to receive that gorgeous smile the lady was generously giving. Ah, sadly it was already gone once she hears me speak! Maybe it was better if I did not speak at all. “
Truth be told, her smile changed into one of surprise when she saw who the person was. But when she utters the person’s name, there was once again a smile on her face. “ Wei Ying. “
The man, who is actually Wei Wuxian ( who else would actually come unannounced but the man himself ), is currently standing beside his bike holding his red fiery helmet to his side. His face stretch into a very bright smile while looking at her.
“ Hi Lan Zhan! I see now what got you occupied. “ he says as he went down to pet the kitten as well. "Hello there!"
Oh crap! She totally forgot he wasn’t suppose to know of her current weak state! Damn Wuxian and his bright smiles! Now what should she say now? She can’t let him know.
“ What brings you here? What about work? “
The man taps his pointed nose twice as he looks away. “ Well, you sound kinda cranky over the phone. I thought maybe, whatever got you preoccupied must have made you feel stressful. So I thought I should bring you something sweet to eat! It’s something I do whenever I feel stressed about work. Eat some sweets haha but don’t worry! I only came to drop the sweets. After that, I’ll be out of your hair I promise. Wait here! “ he said and then went back on his bike to get said sweets.
“ Here! “ he gave the box towards her. “ I’m not sure if you'll like it since you like veggies more than anything in this world. But I hope you give it a try. It’s delicious I promise! Nothing spicy! don’t worry. “
Lan Zhan felt touched at what he's done. She accepted the box and felt it warm in her hands. She can also smell the aroma of the food and feels herself wanting to give it a taste.
“You came just to give me this? “
Wei Ying put a hand behind his neck. “ Well, I just can’t concentrate working thinking how you must have been feeling stressed on the other side so.. here it is! I hope that isn’t too corny for you “ he says cheeks flushed
Lan Wangji looks at him. 'This man.. he just really have to make her fall harder for him, didn’t he? Wei Ying, why are you so unfair? This heart of mine can only take so much.
Feeling her throat tight, she utters “ Thank you, Wei Ying. “
“Just thank you? Lan Zhan, I think you can do better than that! “ he says making her gasp slightly as he leaned closer gesturing on his right cheek saying. “ Here! “
She felt her cheeks hot at that but she played it cool. “ I did not know gifts needs payments. “
The man laughs, "I'm kidding, Lan Zhan! About the treat, it is better eaten while warm. Have some, okay? And don't stress yourself so much! Give yourself a break. I.. I guess I have to go now. I'm sure you would want to be alone right now-" he pause when he felt Lan Zhan kiss his cheek so suddenly.
“ Lan Zhan did you just…” he says breathless “ Lan Zhan, you have to do it again! How unfair surprising me like that. I didn’t even savor it properly! You have to kiss me again. Come on! “
But the other felt embarrassed to the core she doesn’t know what to do. So she decided to run away from the situation walking past him. “ No. “
“ But Lan Zhan! Please! “
“ No. “
“ Fine, Fine! But don’t go! Where are you going? Let me take you there."
That made her turn on her heels to face Wei Ying once more and was going to ask “ What about work? “ But turns out she can’t because she suddenly felt something soft pressed on her lips making her eyes wide in surprise. Also, she saw how Wei Ying’s beautiful pair of silver -grey eyes widen in surprise as well. His face so close to hers. Lan Zhan’s heart starts to pound like mad when she realizes what was currently happening.
There was a pause for a moment before the man pulls away with a panic. “ I’m so sorry, Lan Zhan! It was an accident I promise! I really intended on just kissing your cheek when you turn but then I kissed your lips instead! I’m so sorry! Please forgive me! “ he says as he made a prayer gesture with matching closed eyes.
Silly man. She thought fondly. As if she would get angry about something like this! She’s been dreaming about it for years after all even before they met. When Lan Wangji was just an intern on her Uncle’s company and the man was already a very popular model at that time. She can only resort to keeping magazines of him and wide posters of him in her room. Xichen, her brother laughed so hard at her once he saw those posters one time Wangji let her guard down and her brother sneakily got inside her room after the woman strictly told him not to enter in it.
She understands why Xichen got really curious about it though. After all, he always has free reign on coming in and out his only sister’s room. But then suddenly he was being restricted to go there. So of course he will do anything to find out why.
“ It was an accident. No apologies needed. “
Wei Ying finally stops with the prayer gesture looking relieved. “ That’s good! Haha now where are you going again? Surely you have a destination somewhere no? And you just didn’t went out to pet some kitten or anything like that. Though, it’s cute seeing you pet it. “ he says with a smile.
Ah, this again. What a great mistake! She should have just turn to the direction of their house instead of the other way round! Now, she really has no other way to escape the question.
“ Lan Zhan? “
“ What about work? “ still, it didn’t hurt to try to divert his attention so she tried asking once more. Maybe Wei Ying would say, ' Oh shoot! You’re right! I should probably go. ‘ But then.
“ Ah, Lan Zhan! How is it that you ask me this question once again even though I’ve been purposely ignoring it so that I wouldn’t need to tell you the embarrassing answer?“
The woman tilt her head as if asking a question.
Wuxian bit his lower lip, eyes looking anywhere but her and said. “ Fine fine! I’ll just tell you the whole truth. Actually, I asked Xichen ge why you’re still not around the company. Usually, you always come before me. And today, I came unusually early I didn’t know why so I decided to find you and have a little chat if you’re not that busy yet.
But then he told me you can’t come to work because of your monthly visits and also warned me about you being cranky and not wanting to interact all the more with people whenever you are at it. But even with that, I still want to talk with you anyway and as a result, I heard you sound cranky over the phone haha “ he says laughing.
Lan Zhan grimace after hearing that. So he already knew about it. So much for trying to keep it at bay.
“ Apologies, Wei Ying. “
“ No! No need to apologize. I experienced it with Jie after all.“
“ So the treat.. “
“ Ah yes! I remember whenever Jie has her monthly visits, she would eat something sweet to lessen the pain in her lower abdomen or.. anyway! To be honest Lan Zhan, I really cancelled out my photoshoot this day because I wanted to take care of you. If that’s alright of course! And it’s totally fine if it’s not! And you want me to leave. You don’t want to interact with people after all when you get these visits so it’s really fine- “

He really didn’t need to but since he’s already here, she can’t just push him away right? It would be heartless to do something like that. “ Alright. I give you permission. “
The man’s face brightens saying, “ Really?! You’ll let me take care of you? Thank you, Lan Zhan! I’ll do my best I promise and don’t worry! I’ll try to keep my mouth shut as much as possible as well.“
“ No need. “ she says because Wei Ying should just be Wei Ying. “ Come. This one needs to buy some necessities. “ She says as she walks towards his motorbike.
“ What you want to buy, are they for the monthly visits? “

Turns out, he also bought some necessities a woman with a period should need. Lan Zhan can’t help but feel a little dizzy from all of this. “ Wei Ying, you’re really...”
“Did I do something wrong? “ he says tapping his nose.
