Growing up, Lan Zhan never understood why girls would scream, shout or even drool whenever they see a man’s naked upper body. She never understood the the appeal of looking at abdomens or chests.
But now, as her eyes land on one. On a certain guy, not just any guy, but Wei Ying. Whose having a photoshoot posing with no clothes on his upper body, Lan Zhan thinks, that she now understood the appeal.
She has been sitting on this navy blue colored beach bench, with a fancy looking umbrella attached to it. She has been silently reading on her book as she hears the peaceful waves of the ocean when she noticed a commotion nearby.
She decided not to bother about them but something tells her to look. And when she looked, there she saw people getting ready for a photoshoot and then that’s when she saw him. Wei Ying. Wei Wuxian.
She has not been able to look away from him since. He has been to wearing several beach polos and beach shorts until it regressed to having no upper clothing at all. She may or may not have gritted her teeth in jealousy when she heard the hoards of women looking at him screaming in delight as he took off the polo he was wearing previously.
See this is what Lan Zhan is talking about. This is what she can’t take. That many girls would look at Wei Ying and they will saw something, everything in him that should only be reserved for the eyes of his future wife.
But Lan Zhan isn’t selfish. Wei Ying loves modelling and the attention he can get from it. And she is not about to be the villain that would take away his beloved profession from him.
She’d rather pine from afar and let him be happy rather than let him get sad by her side. She can’t do that to him. She won’t. He deserves someone who can accept him and his profession. Not Lan Zhan who is jealous and petty.
But first, she decided to trace the man’s body with her eyes like the thirsty woman that she is.
Lan Zhan felt her body tremble all over slightly as she looked at the man. She looked first at the man’s handsome and flustered face – due to the heat – down to his pale neck that’s now colored into a beautiful shade of scarlet, then to his wonderfully shaped chest – that’s begging to be touched – then to his six pack abs--
Lan Zhan looked away clearing her dry throat and then took a deep breath.
She thought that it’s already enough before she gets lower, and— Lan Zhan decided to recite rules in her mind before it gets worse.

Lan Zhan screams in her head frustrated because no matter what, she can’t get the picture of Wei Ying out of her mind. The little devil prowling around her mind even played with her more as she saw an image of Wei Ying making a seductive pose whilst naked all over.
‘ Get behind me Satan! Stupid devil. Doing nothing but tempting people. ‘ Lan Zhan thought rebuking the demonic psycho.
She heard a huff and then a ' I only tempt people. It is their fault if they follow my lead. What are you being so angry at me for? ‘
Which is why leave me alone and don’t give me pictures of naked Wei Ying anymore. Wei Ying didn’t deserve my thirst for him. He only deserves to be loved.
‘ And yet you rejected him little Lan Zhan. ‘ says a voice.
It is for his own good.
‘ Do you really believe that? ‘
I will believe what I want to believe. Do not tell me anything otherwise.
Begrudgingly, Lan Zhan went down from the beach bench and fastened back the white robe she’s wearing to cover her body. She then picked up her book and walks away from the beach. She decided it’s better to continue reading inside her room rather than get tempted upon looking at Wei Ying once more.
She was just on her seventh step, when she heard someone call her name flinching at the process because of how familiar the voice is. She can only hope he’s already wearing a shirt or else, she didn’t know what to do with her self. She doesn’t want her body to play the music “ Can’t keep my hands to myself “ by Selena Gomez and suddenly reach out to feel Wei Ying’s naked upper body.
Taking a deep breath, Lan Zhan turned around only to see that - thank heavens! He’s actually wearing a shirt now.
“ Wei Yi- Wuxian? “ she says pretending she only saw him now.
She saw a look of hurt on his face but he decided to play it cool as he replied. “ Don’t be like that Lan Zhan! I know you already rejected little old me but we can still be friends ya know? Don’t be a stranger will you. “ then he rested a hand on his side waist making him look petulant.
“ Friends. “ she says blankly.
“ Yes friends! We’re already so close after all! “ and then he murmured something like ' Just not the kind of close I wanted. ‘
“ What was that? “ asks the woman not hearing what he said.
“ Ha? Oh nothing! Anyway, what are you doing here Lan Zhan? Are you having a vacation? Not that I inquired of it with anyone no but it actually looked like it! You’re in a beach with beach attire. So..” he says and Lan Zhan thinks she saw him gulp minutely but decided to ignore it.
“ Mn. Uncle suggested. “
“ Lan Qiren suggested you have a vacation?! Wow! That’s… wow! Never imagined that old ma- I mean he, Mr. Lan can actually be generous. “
As they speak, a woman wearing a two piece joined them putting an arm around Wei Ying’s waist. It made Lan Zhan’s brow twitch elegantly. “ Wei Ying, here you are! They’re looking for you. Break times over. And whose this lovely lady you’re speaking with? “
“ Ah, this is Lan Zh-Wangji. That’s Lan Wangji for you. Lan Zhan, this is Sun Lin! “
The woman Sun Lin huffs at Wei Ying’s childishness, but she smiled when she looked at Lan Zhan. “ Nice to meet you dear! “ she says not separating from her hold of the man.
“ Same with you. “ Lan Zhan says coolly, face blank though inside, she was steaming with jealousy because she saw the woman pressed her big boobies towards Wei Ying's and she can tell, that he’s enjoying it as well.
Stupid Wei Ying! Stupid Sun Lin! Says her jealous self.
“ Now, while this is nice and all, you still have a shoot to continue Wei Ying so we have to go now. Bye Lan Zhan dear! “
But before she can get to drag Wei Ying, the man suddenly withdraw from her hold saying. “ Sun Lin, I’ll follow you there. I still need to speak to Lan Zhan. Give me a minute alright? “
That made Lan Zhan halt from her steaming jealousy. Hear that? Wei Ying still wants to speak with me. Scram lady. Lan Zhan thought pettily.
But instead of going away, the woman decided to cling onto Wei Ying’s upper arm and was once again pressing her damn boobies on him. “ No. We’ll go together! I’ll be with you. “ she says smiling sweetly at the man.
Hey! That is my man you are holding lady! Lan Zhan thought ignoring the voice inside her head saying, ‘Well, not anymore. You already lost it when you had the chance. ‘
The man tried to reason with the woman that he wants to speak privately with Lan Zhan but Sun Lin won’t budge. Lan Zhan decided that it is quite enough.
“ Wei Ying. “
“ Yes, Lan Zhan? “ says the man immediately as if he was a butler being called so suddenly by his master.
“ Just leave me a message. “ then she walked away before she breaks down because of so much emotional fatigue from the past few days of wallowing in regret because how could she let go of Wei Ying just like that? Then now, here comes the seemingly new girl he might currently be dating already after Lan Zhan rejected him like the fool that she is.
She heard a shout of, “ Make sure to come Lan Zhan! I’ll be waiting! “ she didn’t know exactly what that means but she only raised a hand indicating that she hears him and went straight to her room for a nap.

Wei Ying’s face began to blank after waiting for Lan Zhan inside the restaurant for almost two hours.
Earlier, after he came back to the shooting area, he immediately picked his phone up and excitedly reserved a table for two in this vegetarian place. He had found this place quite a while ago now after searching for a vegetarian restaurant, just to impress Lan Zhan when he was still her suitor. They never found time to get in here though because well.. Lan Zhan rejected Wei Ying.
But now, after having hope for them to get together once more, he decided to meet in this place.
And after making sure, he got a reservation, he then sent a message to Lan Zhan that he wants to have dinner with her.
The past days of not seeing her and not speaking with her, Wei Ying already let go of all hopes of getting together with Lan Zhan. She made it clear after all that she doesn’t want to do anything with a model like Wei Ying. And Wei Ying, as much as he loves Lan Zhan, he can’t just let go of modelling yet. He’s indebted to the Jiang’s after all, being his adoptive family. So if being one of the models of their agency is something he can do to repay them, then Wei Ying is more than willing to do so.
To be honest, he’s been wanting to quit. For months. Or maybe long before he met Lan Zhan. But because of wanting to repay the Jiang’s, he decided to shut his mouth and played it cool with partying and drinking and.. women.
But he stopped the women part after meeting the gorgeous lady named Lan Zhan.
He tried so hard to keep his mouth shut about it, but when Lan Zhan rejected him because of being a model, he realized that maybe, this is a call sign from heaven. That it is time to actually let go of modelling. That his decision about wanting to let go of modelling is right and that if he wants to repay the Jiang’s, he can just do so by other things. Just not. Not modelling.
So he tells this matter to his siblings first. Their response only made him cry.
They said that he isn’t indebted to the Jiangs. It was their parents decision to care for him so he isn’t in any way, indebted to anybody. He is a child after all, who suddenly lost his parents at a very young age.
Jiang Cheng only asked him to finish this year’s contract and he can finally do whatever he wanted to do with his life and all his savings.
He hugged them both, feeling grateful to know that he’s not actually alone like he had always believed in the past few years.
After that, he felt excited to tell Lan Zhan about the news. But then, when he called her so many times, she didn’t answer. And when he messaged her countless times, he still didn’t receive any reply from her.
He also didn’t see Lan Zhan around the company building. He’s so afraid that maybe, the woman departed somewhere so that she can no longer see him anymore. Gladly, when he spoke to Lan Xichen, he’s told that she was only taking a vacation and no Wuxian, she has not departed to go to Netherlands just to avoid you.
Lotus Pier Beach (assuming this is a private beach ) is the location of Wei Ying’s next photoshoot and coincidentally, it is also the place where Lan Zhan is currently taking her vacation in. It is purely coincidental and not planned by Wei Ying at all. He definitely did not beg his brother to do his next photoshoot at the exact place where Lan Zhan is in. He definitely did not.
And he's happy everything is going well.
But then when he laid his eyes on the said woman, he can’t believe his eyes. He can’t believe his eyes because, Lan Zhan is sitting on a beach bench with a two piece! A two piece!!!
I mean, don’t get him wrong. He knows that Lan Zhan is on the beach. He’s not an idiot. But! That! Is! Lan Zhan!! She’s this freaking conservative baby and she looks like she’s never worn a very short skirt all her life! As well as some backless sh** he always sees during a red carpet or during the galas he’s in!
And now! Without further ado, she actually wore a FREAKING! TWO! PIECE!!! The heck is that! Just how many man had looked at that gorgeous body already?! And has she wore those kinds of freaking laces the moment she hit this place? Wei Ying feels like he’s out for blood.
Thankfully, he stopped himself when they started the shoot.
And when he saw her rise from the bench later, he’s glad she isn’t actually all two piece. She’s actually wearing a fancy silk white robe nothing see through. She only unfastened it when she was sitting on the bench. Then she fastened it with quick motions before walking away from the beach. Thank God she still hadn’t lost that conservativeness.
And when he spoke with her, he had dared to hope that they can still have a second chance. And that Wei Ying would tell her he would be quitting soon enough and that they could finally be together.
But now, as he looked at the time, he felt his eyes sting.
It’s impossible that she’s actually coming and that she’s only probably late because, Lan Zhan is never late. She either comes on time or comes 5-10 minutes before the time.
Wei Ying bit his lip as he tries to stop his tears from falling.
She’s not coming Wei Ying. Just admit it. You lost. The moment she rejected you, is the moment you lost her. Now you lost her forever.
Wait, but what if something did happen! That’s why she hasn’t come! Wei Ying believed that if the woman really did not want to meet with him, she’ll let him know! He knows he’s only known Lan Zhan for 8 months but he thinks that that’s enough time to know that the woman is painfully honest and innocent for her own 25 year old sake, Wei Ying sometimes doesn’t know how to deal with it.
He decided to call her immediately but before he can dial the number, his phone suddenly rang. He was actually gonna tap the red button but then when he saw that it was Lan Zhan, he immediately tapped the green one.
“Lan Zhan, thank God you finally called! Haha was actually gonna call you to inquire if everything’s alright. Are you alright? Did something happen that’s why you can’t come? Did you suddenly become sick or something? I can come and look out for you if you want. “ he says in one go not trusting himself to breath, anticipating for the woman’s answer of rejection or whatever negativity coming into his mind.
On the other line, Lan Zhan started to explain what happened. Turns out, that after taking a nap, she kept on waiting for Wei Ying’s message. But after a long time, she still didn’t receive any. Then, it took her the next two hours to realize why she hasn’t received any message from Wei Ying.
Wei Ying burst out laughing, letting out tears of joy instead of the tears of sorrow that was ready to fall earlier.
‘ Wei Ying. ‘ he heard the woman say, monotoned but he can tell that she’s actually embarrassed.
“Ahaha sorry Lan Zhan. But really? It took you 2 hours to realize you actually set the airplane mode on that’s why you haven’t received my message yet, while I felt so worried about how you actually just ghosted little me! Hahaha “
‘ Apologies Wei Ying. ‘
“Aiyo! None of that. I had a good laugh about it anyway! The impeccable Lan Zhan actually forgetting something like that! It is the silliest but cutest thing I’ve ever heard in my life I can’t wait to tease you about it for the next years of our life—ahem! “ he stopped himself before he can make a fool of himself. “ Anyways, are you still coming or not? Cause for your information, I never left the restaurant. The staffs started to look at me funny. So I decided to order wine for myself and took my time sipping it. haha “
“ Stop apologizing already and come here! You know I’m not one for patience. “ and I still waited for you anyways , is something left unsaid but not unheard.
‘ Mn. Then please, would Mr. Wei spare me a bit more patience and wait for me? ‘ she said playfully.
He laughs, “ I have been waiting for two hours already but for you my lady, I would gladly extend my patience and wait for another hour or more. “

When Lan Zhan arrived, Wei Ying smiles that beautiful toothy smile of his. Lan Zhan looked equally gorgeous in her royal blue dress just as she was in her two piece earlier ( but Wei Ying is still bitter she actually wore that kind of clothes without him knowing about it ). The dress is simple but it is enough to make people look at her.
She is just absolutely stunning from head to toe no matter what she wears. He bets that even if she wears a mascot, he’ll still think she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever met!
Her hair is in a messy braid, but it’s still apparently so gorgeous to look at. And it make her look more relaxed and youthful (lively kind of youthful. Not that Wei Ying thinks Lan Zhan looks old or anything. ) than when she was wearing an elegant formal bun ( which makes her mature than her age ) during work days.
“ Lan Zhan! “ he calls with excitement waving his hand when Lan Zhan looks around surely trying to find him.
“ I am deeply sorry, Wei Ying. Had I been more attentive, I would have never made you wait for two hours. “ says Lan Zhan after sitting on a chair Wei Ying pulled out for her to sit on.
“And miss one of Lan Zhan's silly moments? No way! That was one of the cutest and silliest moments of Lan Zhan I’ve had the privilege of witnessing! I will never trade it for the world. Haha It’s definitely worth the wait! “ he says as he sat down. “ Now, why don’t we order? I’m starving and surely, so are you I suppose? “
The two of them starts to look at their menu. Wei Ying secretly looks up to look at Lan Zhan’s face as she scans the menu with her beautiful eyes. He was rewarded with a tiny quirk of her lips indicating that she was pleased by the dishes on the menu. He bit his lower lip so hard, trying to stop himself from smiling himself silly as he look back at his own menu.

After eating dinner and speaking ( Wei Ying revealing all by himself that Sun Lin was just a friend on the process, making Lan Zhan felt relieved after knowing. ) occasionally with each other, mostly on Wei Ying’s part, Wei Ying asked Lan Zhan if they can stroll at a nearby park. The latter agreed. So they went walking side by side.
As they walk in comfortable silence they felt the chilly night. There were several people walking or sitting at a bench around the park as well. There are couples having a date. Some are in trios. And there was one person, having a good stroll on his own.
As they walk, Wei Ying finally decided to break the silence between them. “ Lan Zhan! “ he says not looking at the woman.
“ Mn. “ Says Lan Zhan as she looks at Wei Ying.
“ Lan Wangji! “
“ Mn. “
“ Zhan Zhan! “
Ah, so they are doing this. And so once again, Lan Zhan humored the man. “ Mn. “
Wei Ying chuckles. “ Ahh, I can’t believe 8 months have passed since I've met you. Do you still remember the first time we met?"
Lan Zhan let a tiny quirk of lips creep her face. She will never forget that time. How could she forget? When the man, that man she’s been pining for years now suddenly came barging in her life and started calling her her names. She felt so good hearing it, she doesn’t know what to do with herself so she decided to play the tsundere card and pretended she ain’t pleased with him at all when it was the exact opposite.
“ Mn. “
“I’m so glad I was stubborn and persistent. Because if I was not, I would not have had the privilege of knowing the real you. “ says Wei Ying, making Lan Zhan pause. Wei Ying paused as well to look at her.
“ I am glad as well, Wei Ying. Of having the privilege to know you. “
Wei Ying replied with a smile. Suddenly, the man reached out towards her braid. He held it gently, carress it with his thumb, making her shiver in delight subtly.
“ Lan Zhan, I know I already asked you this during dinner. But, how are you really the past days? You never elaborated your reply. Well, not that you do on most occasions. That’s just who you are. But, I just want to know how you're doing."
Lan Zhan had replied earlier that she was fine and well. It wasn’t exactly a lie. But, it isn’t the whole truth either.
Because to be honest, she may be breathing fine – thank God for her lungs and for the air she breathes—but she went back to her usual self after she rejected Wei Ying. Isolated, alone. It was Wei Ying who coaxed her out of her comfort zone after all. She thinks suspiciously that Wei Ying was an instrument from God above, telling her it’s time to come out of her comfort zone and meet people other than her uncle and brother expanding her horizon.
And ever since she met Wei Ying, he introduced her to his friends, and they’ve made Lan Zhan a friend of theirs too. It was a happy occasion until she ruined it. She rejected Wei Ying and surely now, Wei Ying’s friends would hate her for rejecting their friend. For who would reject this wonderful boy right?
Only Lan Zhan. Lan idiot Zhan. That’s who.
“To be honest, I have never been myself the past days. I was never myself after you rejected me. “ He says, now raising a hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.
Lan Zhan’s breath hitch at what he did. “ Never yourself? “
“What? Lan Zhan, don’t tell me you actually thought I would go back to my old ways and go on one night stands after you rejected me? “
Lan Zhan flinch at that. “ Wei Ying I… “
“ Haha sorry, Lan er Jie. I was kidding, I was kidding. But really Lan Zhan the past days, I suddenly become the workaholic I never wanted to be. “ he says as he turned and continue walking. Lan Zhan followed suit.
“ I didn’t even want to take a break and went shoot after shoot. I wanted my body, my mind and my heart to get exhausted so much so that I don’t have to spend so much time thinking of you and at night, I will just directly go to sleep. “
“ Wei Ying… “ she says feeling guilty, as she pause in her walk once more.
“ Now now Lan Zhan, don’t think I invited you out to make you feel guilty. I didn’t invite you for that. In fact, the reason why I invited you out here is because.. “ Wei Ying turns to face her “… I’m quitting. “
Lan Zhan’s eyes widen at that. “ Pardon? “
He reached to hold both her hands excitedly. “ I’m quitting, Lan Zhan! I'll quit modelling! Not now though. I still need to finish this year’s contract and then I’m a free man! So until then Lan Zhan, would you let me become your suitor— Lan Zhan? “ Wei Ying asks when she suddenly withdraw from him.
“ Lan Zhan? Aren’t you happy? I just said I’ll be quitting—“
“ Wei Ying no. Stop speaking of such matter. “
“ Huh? But why? I thought you’ll be happy about this! “
“ No. This is not right. You can not quit. Absolutely not, Wei Ying. “ she says as she turned away from him, embracing herself as if she’s suddenly feeling cold, her back now facing him.
“ Lan Zhan, I.. I don't understand! I thought you would be happy about this?" he says, sounding so distraught.
The other shakes her head not saying anything.
"Lan Zhan, what is it you want me to do? Is there another reason why you don't want to be with me?"
She turns to him and says, “ Wei Ying, why are you doing this? What is in me? What is in me that you so easily give up the profession you love? “
Hearing that, Wei Ying scoffs. “ Profession I love? I think you mean profession I hate. “
Lan Zhan is surprise to hear that. “ What.. what do you mean? “
Sighing, Wei Ying says, “ Being a model, it might feel good to have so many attention given to you. But then as time passes by, being popular can only do so much to make you happy. Yes it made me feel loved for a while.
But I was never satisfied.
Most of all, I hate how some people would look at me like they just want to get into my pants. So Fu**ing creepy. “ He ended with a grimace.
Hearing that, Lan Zhan’s ear blushed with shame. She is one of those people who wants to get into Wei Ying’s pants after all.
But not just into his pants though. Because Lan Zhan is selfish like that. She wants to get into his heart, his mind, his very soul, everything. She wants all of him.
“Though, if you’re the one looking at me like that, I won’t mind Lan Zhan. “ he says mischievously as though he just heard her thoughts.
“ Ridiculous! Wei Ying must be gazed upon with love. Desire and passion. Not lust. “ she says trying to come clean.
“ Yeah? “ Wei Ying says as he walks closer to Lan Zhan. “ That’s what I thought too. That’s why I’ve been planning to quit for months because I’ve finally found someone who gazes at me with love…” he cups her cheek as he looked into her eyes.
“ Desire. “ he kissed her forehead as she close her eyes. “ And passion. “ he says as he pull away to look at her once more.
“ Yep! The most beautiful eyes I’ve had the privilege to look into. “ he says as Lan Zhan open her eyes looking at him.
Putting her hands over his, she asks him feeling so overwhelmed at what he's done. “ Wei Ying, are you certain? “
“ Yes Lan Zhan. I've never been more certain my whole life. Ever since you rejected me at the comfort room inside YunPing bar, you made me lost my appetite for one night stands. Your words made me realize that that’s what I’ve been searching my whole life. Something that’s real and lasting. Not just temporary pleasure. You made me realize that I want to sleep with the same person every night. And wake up seeing their lovely face in the every morning. I want to flirt with them. Only with them from now on. And discover something new about them everyday. The moment you left that night, with your elegant walk, I immediately realized that I want to do all those, not just with anyone, but you. So when I found you again, I took immediate action! haha. “
Lan Zhan smiles as she remembered that day Wei Wuxian declared so loudly about his intentions to court Lan Wangji. The whole staff around that time, may or may not have cheered loudly for him telling him good luck with that!
Wei Ying grins as he saw her smile. “ Every person I meet, they were all, ‘ hey handsome, it’s too loud in here. How bout we go somewhere quiet and have fun? '
But you? The only woman I ever took the initiative to invite over, rejected me so harshly I’ve never felt so humiliated and impressed at the same time! Haha “
“ The only woman? “
“Yes, Lan Zhan! Be honored! Every woman I slept with, they were always the first one make a move on me. But you? Oh no. All you did was sit there and make me look at you for straight hours. Haha“

Sitting on the grass, the two continues to speak with each other.
“ Lan Zhan, I’ve been curious about something you just said earlier. But I forgot to ask you about it. Thankfully, I remember it again. Haha“
“ What is it? “
“ You said I must only be loved and not lusted upon. But isn’t lust the term for the desire you have for your partner in life? “
“ Wei Ying, both are two different things. “
“ O..kay? Mind to elaborate? “
“Both have desires. Love desires good. While lust desires evil. Love desires beautifully. It is content, patient, kind. Lust is the opposite. It’s desires are ugly. Like greed, it is insatiable, cruel, and uncaring. It destroys the relationship instead of making it stronger. Lust only produces hatred between the two parties.
Love connects. Lust breaks.
Love does not covet. Lust covets.
Loves desires a lifetime. While lust, only it’s greed will be permanent to it. “

“ Lust only wants to get into someone’s pants. Love restrains a person making them only get into pants after marriage. “
Wei Ying is already laughing so hard even before Lan Zhan can finish what she says.
“Haha oh my gosh Lan Zhan! I cahahan’t anymore! haha “ he says as he leaned his weight on Lan Zhan for support.
After he calm down, he asks. “ But Lan Zhan, if you love someone, don’t you want to like, you know make love to them asap? “
Of course Lan Zhan wanted to make love asap. But..
“ Wei Ying, loving someone does not have to be going straight into sex just because you want to. Love is not just about feelings or desires or passion. Love follows a process and not just instincts. We may be half animals, but we're not all that. We are given a mind to think. We ought to use it.“

"If you follow your feelings, it might destroy your relationship. As humans, we are naturally attracted to other people even though we already have someone in our lives it is possible to still be attracted with others because humans are attracted to beauty.
