Chapter Text
“Y’know, our world is pretty empty.” Sapnap wasn’t sure why he had said that if he’s being honest. They all knew just how empty the world was, it was pretty obvious. This world seemed so endless, so why were there only four people roaming around? He just stared ahead as he thought, eyes lost deep in concentration.
“Well… yea” Dream was a little lost as well but not the way Sapnap was. He was the first person to pop up in this world, granted he was followed a few seconds later by George, who also seemingly popped out of nowhere but Dream’s place as the first person was undeniable. He never really thought about why they were there and neither had the other two. Why was Sapnap worried all of a sudden?
He followed Sapnap’s gaze and there wasn’t anything in particular out there, just more trees like the one they were sitting under. Dream settled back against the tree, “I never really have time to mull that over, with just the four of us out here, surviving is the main priority, yea?” He chuckled a bit and looked over, expecting Sapnap to laugh with him.
Sapnap shook his head, “does it not bother you? We all just.. Appeared here one day,” he paused, turning to Dream, “I mean, the other animals don’t do that, even the fucking monsters don’t do that! They have parents and shit and we just-” “ok hey, you need to take a breather Sap, you’re gonna pass out or something.” Sapnap huffed and Dream stood, looking out into the field for a moment. Sapnap didn’t need to see his face to know that he was figuring out how to get Sapnap’s mind off of this.
That mask helped hide it a lot but Sapnap knew he cared about him. Sapnap smiled a bit, “you don’t have to do all that, let’s just go find George and go for a swim or something.” Dream turned back to him, “you sure? You got really riled up there for a sec” Sapnap nodded and held his hand out, Dream got the hint and helped him to his feet.
They start down the path silently, Dream still worried, and Sapnap trying to keep his mind from wandering around again. They made their way down the hill, towards what they decided they were gonna call “The Community House”. There wasn’t much else to go towards really, only this building and all their respective houses, and their best bet on finding George was the Community House. Most of the time he was in there, stocking chests and making tiny add-ons to the base house that the three of them built together.
They arrived at the lake, cutting around to reach the bridge closest to them. Luckily enough, their instincts were correct and George was currently emptying items from his satchel into a chest in the corner. Sapnap got a mischievous glint in his eyes, he nudged Dream and held a finger to his lips. He couldn’t see it obviously, but Sapnap sensed that Dream smirked as he nodded and leaned back against the doorframe.
Being quiet was never his strong suit, but George was too absorbed in going through his items and deciding what he needed. He crouched down and snuck up behind George with a wolf’s grin, wrapping his arms around George’s waist and lifting. “Oh, you dick!” George practically screeched, kicking the air wildly as Sapnap held him above where his feet could reach. George looked around wildly, “Dream! Get him to put me down!” He was no help though as he was doubled over wheezing, sounding more like a tea kettle than a man. George groaned and resorted to throwing elbows, landing a blow to Sapnap’s jaw and finally being dropped unceremoniously onto his ass.
All three were on the floor now, two laughing and one fixing his shirt and smiling despite himself. “What do you two idiots want?” his infectious smile shown through his voice. Sapnap sat up, “wanna go swim?”
George raised his eyebrows, “you’re suggesting we go swimming? Don’t you like,” he gestured vaguely, “not like the water?” his curious gaze turned to Dream who was standing once more. Dream shook his head, even with no expression to read he got the message. He nodded slowly and turned back, “Well, either way, I’m game” Sapnap grinned, standing up quickly and heading for the opposite doorway, “C’mon slowpokes! It’s too lovely of a day to spend indoors!”
Dream and George share a passive look, then follow Sapnap with no real hurry. Yea, today was gonna be a good day.
Sapnap missed those days.
