Her next words were choppy and broken, almost as if her heart shattered and the residual pieces spelled out her next question. “I loved you once? I don’t remember…” A tear trailed down her cheek and fell into her hand as her brain struggled to untangle her mess of dusty memories.
That seemed to be Annabeth’s breaking point as well. The girl had been doing a good job keeping her composure, but Piper’s words seemed to send her into a spiral. She pulled her knees to her chest and let out a light sob before standing and excusing herself. Before Piper could even call out to the girl she was gone, leaving her alone once again in the infirmary.
This is not just a story about love, it is one about grief and moving on. About the bond that exists between two people in love, and how even divine forces can not come between that. Love and loss, anger and guilt, all emotions that we experience in our lives. There is love in its many forms written throughout, and how each fills a piece of someone's heart.
