“So, were you ever going to mention that you can do that?” Peter asks Neal after the team leaves.
“I wasn’t planning on it,” Neal mentions, holding his ribs from where their suspect, Don Jameson, had shot him. However, the bullet was headed for Diana.
“Let’s make a list of the things you just did that I had no clue you could do! 1) You are acrobatic enough to do a backflip from standing still and split-kick two people in the face. 2) You can fight. 3) You can fight well enough that you can incorporate the acrobatics into the fight making it near impossible to hit you. 4) You have a saving-people complex that makes you take hits for other people. And 5) You apparently have a high pain tolerance because you just kept fighting with a bullet in your side even after backup arrived!”
“Would you have preferred that I let Diana be killed?”
“Of course not, but-!” Before Peter could continue to yell at Neal, Diana interrupted.
“Neal, thank you. That bullet was meant for me, and you took it. Thank you,” she smiles at him and places a hand on his shoulder. “How did you do that, anyway? You were across the room from me when the shot went off.”
Neal groaned, “I grew up in a traveling circus. I could do backflips as soon as I could walk, and I was always faster when flipping.”
The two agents nodded, not sure if they believed him, but not questioning it. “However you did it, I’m thankful that you did,” Diana reiterated before turning away.
“Now it’s time to get you to a hospital,” Peter said, leading Neal to the car.
“What? The medics already checked me out, they said I was fine!”
“I don’t care, you’re going to a hospital,” Peter stated, no room for arguing.
“Peter!” Neal complains and continues attempting to get out of going to the hospital.
