“Are you okay?” Katsuki asks, “I had to use your bracelet ‘cause mine broke, but I already sent out an SOS signal, so hopefully someone will come find us soon but…” Katsuki pauses, taking a deep breath, his mouth falling open as he shakily exhales, “You smell… you smell different.”
Izuku realizes exactly what it is Katsuki is smelling, his usual scent of fresh rain on warm earth and pine trees starting to shift to something more delicious, to the nectarous sweetness of ripe fruits and wildflowers blooming in the forests on balmy spring days. Usually there would only be hints of this scent peeking through on the days when his pre-heat started, but it never becomes overtly fragrant before Izuku could lock himself in his room for his heat days.
And obviously Katsuki wouldn’t have a clue what to make of this smell - but from the way his body seems to be reacting, his alpha seems to know.
“The inhibitor broke,” Izuku says, not meaning to speak in a whisper, but their faces are just so close together and it makes him nervous, “I think… I think my heat is starting early.”
