Summary
Mai doesn’t dream.
Mai doesn’t even sleep, which is funny, because she was the one who lectured Maki when dark circles made themselves too apparent under her sister’s eyes.
Instead, she lies in bed, staring at the ceiling, and then periodically gets up to try and take her mind off her sudden bout of insomnia. It’s almost like a routine.
Lay in bed.
Go to the bathroom. Splash her face with cold water.
Open the window. The stars are hiding again tonight.
Doodle on a piece of scrap paper.
Look at old pictures i̶g̶n̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶g̶u̶i̶l̶t̶.
Oh look, a star came out. Mai watches it until it disappears again.
Lay back down.
Maybe she’ll be able to fall asleep this time.
