Technoblade plopped onto his bed, bouncing slightly in the soft sheets. He hugged a long, red body pillow as he pulled his phone out and scrolled through his assortment of apps, his narrowed eyes weighing the pros and cons of each game and social media: Twitter is offensive and he doesn’t have the energy to deal with it; Temple Run is glitchy most of the time; Pokemon Go requires getting out. He was about to give up and take a nap, but then one application caught his eye.
“Magic Tiles?” he whispers. He thinks about it for a moment as memories of a certain someone and himself tangled up in a blanket, cuddling next to the warm and crackling fire as he swiftly tapped the falling black keys flash by in his mind. He allows his finger to open the game, realizing that he hasn’t played the game in a quite a while. Suddenly, the silky pillow is pulled from his grip and he almost drops his phone. His blonde boyfriend pops up in his arms with his usual wide grin plastered across his face.
“Whatcha’ doin’?” he asks in a curiously happy tone. Techno chuckles at his lover’s antics. He shows him the phone, and Dream’s face somehow lights up even more than it already was. The man lays in his place on the pinkett's chest, watching the scrolling songs before he excitedly gasps as the song “All of Me” by John Legend was selected. The beginning piano plays, and Techno goes through the all too familiar steps of his favorite song to play on the app. It’s not too slow for his enjoyment, but it’s also not so fast that his anxiety peaks to places it somehow hasn’t reached before, and he gets the bonus of listening to Dream quietly singing along to the love song that the blonde has memorized all the words to.
“What would I do without your smart-mouth, drawin’ me in and you kickin’ me out. You got my head spinnin’, no kiddin’, I can’t pin you down,” Dream began quietly, already entranced by the quick yet steady pace of Techno’s hands tapping away. “What’s goin’ on in that beautiful mind? I’m on your magical, mystery ride. And I’m so dizzy, don’t know what hit me, but I’ll be alright.”
Techno was too focused to see the nostalgia tainting Dream’s eyes. Flashbacks of duels where sarcastic remarks and witty responses were heard throughout the series of dodges and attacks. Memories of how almost every fight would end in Dream going into ‘manhunt mode’ and running away until they ended up in a dark cave, fighting off mobs together and keeping track of who could slaughter the most monsters so they could bicker about it later.
“My head’s under water, but I’m breathin’ fine. You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind,” Techno heard reminiscence lacing the man’s voice, and he sighed as he read the man’s mind. He joined in and sang along to the chorus, smiling when Dream’s eyes widened as he stared at him with shock and even more excitement.
“‘Cause all of me, loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges; all your perfect imperfections,” Dream was singing a bit louder now, and Techno traced the long scar on his face with his finger as he always did when he felt himself being enraptured in the green-eyed man’s beauty. His hand reached the blonde’s jawline, and Techno rested his hand on Dream’s cheek as he sang every word with meaning. “Give your all to me. I’ll give my all to you. You're my end and my beginnin’. Even when I lose, I’m winnin’’
Their eye contact never broke. Years of memories flashed by in just a couple seconds, and with how outdated the app was, the playthrough was always the same every time. Techno had it memorized like the back of his hand, and even if he didn’t, he had surprisingly clear peripheral vision. But none of that mattered right now. What mattered was the story of their life together, with the intense sword fights, the heart-racing chases, the soft cuddling, even the heated arguments that were resolved in a matter of minutes because they knew that the other was their soulmate. Recollections of the times that Techno walked through the door and immediately collapsed into Dream’s arms because he’s the only one that the piglin hybrid felt comfortable dropping his intimidating stature around other than his father. The flashbacks to the times when Dream would remove his mask the moment he and Techno were alone to reveal any emotion, Techno being the one and only person the hunter trusted to see him cry.
“‘Cause I give you all of me, and you give me all of you, oh-oh,” their voices fell to almost a whisper as the song ended and the clapping could be heard signaling the start of endless mode. Techno turned off his phone, setting it on the bedside table next to him. Dream’s eyes were clouded with tears, but it was clearer than day that he wasn’t sad. His smile was soft, and adoration painted his freckled face as he played with a strand of Techno’s long hair. Techno’s hand never fell, and it still cupped Dream’s cheek, who pushed into the warm and comforting touch.
The pinkette pulled the man even closer onto his chest, where they lay there in silence, simply enjoying the other’s presence. Soon, they had fallen asleep.
