Summary
It's with cruel self-conviction that Arakita thinks it's somewhat typical that something so good to him could be taken away so easily. That he never did anything to deserve Fukutomi Juichi in his life anyway.
All he knows is that Fukutomi deserved to live as much as Arakita didn't deserve him at all, and maybe that's what makes the kaijus truly evil. They take the loved, the needed, and spare the excess to flounder without them.
For three years Arakita feels as though he's living by biological standards alone, a broken machine with a missing part; a gaping, festering space where it used to reside, just as useless as he once was.
