“Geralt wait up!” yelled Jaskier. Damn it he was being left behind again. He was always left behind.
Geralt kept on marching up ahead not showing any sign of hearing him. He must have though witcher hearing and all.
After running for way to long Jaskier finally caught up to him and Roach. He felt disgusting from all the sweat. “You better make camp near a river I need a bath.”
Geralt snorted.
After continuing to walk for way to long they finally broke camp. Next to a wonderfully slow but yet deep river Jaskier noted smugly.
After setting up Geralt went off to hunt. Perfect opportunity to bathe. Jaskier stripped and splashed into the water. Wasn’t to cold thank Melitele. Most of the grime was easy to scrub off and after he chilled on a rock nearby sunbathing.
“GAAAAAAAH”
Geralt has snuck up on him so well the he startled right back into the water. He wasn’t there for long though before strong arms wrapped around him and carried him out.
He was still sputtering while Geralt strode out of the water and brought him back ro the rock settling him on his lap.
“I forgot to walk louder”
“And what *cough* would make you realize that you big oaf? Here I was enjoying a little sunbathing is that to much to ask for?”
All he got in return was a grunt as he got gathered up closer to Geralt’s chest. He loved being held like this. The way Geralt held him always made him feel so warm and safe, in a way no one else could. It almost made up for being wet and cold. Almost.
“I’m still upset with you, you know”
“Sorry”
“Still love you though”
“Love you Jask”
Later, with a full belly and being snuggled up to Geralt in the bed roll, he was a happy man. He better not get left behind tomorrow though.
