Marinette brushed back her hair before leaning down to grab the watering can from where she’d placed it a moment ago. She brought to to the roots and tilted it slightly to soak the soil. The buzzing of her new hive filled the air with a pleasant livelyness, she noticed, looking around the balcony.
“I guess you and Marigold have something in common.” Marinette jumped, gazing up at her roof to see Chat Noir stretched out on it. She squinted her eyes against the morning sun and gave a slight wave.
“Wh-what do you mean?” Marinette asked nervously as he slid down onto her balcony.
“The bees!” Marinette breathed a sigh of relief, and happily watched as Chat Noir leaned towards the hive. He kept his distance, but his eyes were bright and curious.
“I’ve always wanted to keep bees, so when Marigold had her debut, I thought it was a sure sign to get my start.” She left out the part about her newfound affinity with the animals after she received her miraculous, but for the most part the statement was true.
“I love them, and they go so well with your flower garden. I bet they never go hungry. Do you eat the honey?”
“I haven’t tried collecting honey yet, but I have no doubts I’m going to enjoy it when I do.” Marinette grinned at the superhero, a rush of energy washing over her.
“It’s a beautiful day, do you want to help me with the flowers? We can have snacks after.” She set down the watering can and gave Chat Noir a playful smile.
“I’d love that,” he said, already picking up a watering can. “Show me what to do.”
