Work Text:
General Alder couldn’t help the curling of her lips at the scene in front of her. Tally Craven was surrounded on either side by Abigail and Raelle, one arm thrown over each of their shoulders for support.
Once the three of them were in front of her, Tally practically threw herself into her arms with a set of rambling, mumbled words that Sarah wasn't remotely able to make sense of.
«How much did she have to drink?» Sarah raised her eyebrow in the direction of the other two witches as she wrapped her arm around Tally's waist to prevent the redhead from crashing to the ground in her intoxicated state.
«Hell if I know! Knowing Tally, even a single drink is definitely too much…» Raelle smirked. «She's your girlfriend, now she is your problem». At the glance Sarah gave her she added a more formal “General”
«Alright…» Sarah looked at Tally again, who was staring down the hallway with glassy eyes and a stupid smile on her lips. «Is she usually like this when drunk?»
«Yep», Abigail nodded.
«You are both dismissed», Sarah said, trying to restore some authority to her tone, but her gaze softened almost immediately as she felt Tally's arms wrapping around her neck. «I’ll keep an eye on her», she finished turning her back on the young witches and pulling Tally into her private quarters.
Once inside, Tally turned to Sarah who looked at her with amusement dancing in her blue iris.
«I love you,» she said very seriously. Sarah would believe she was that serious...if Tally’s eyes would actually keep focus.
Sarah laughed quietly. «Tell me that when you're sober. Come on, dear. Do you need me to carry you?»
Tally seemed to brighten up at that, nodding very quickly. «Yes! Yes, yes, yes-»
«You have to be quiet, Tally, or you'll wake everyone up.» She picked her up in bridal style, the redhead buried her face in the General's neck with a sigh of contentment.
She stayed surprisingly quiet the rest of the way to Sarah’s bedroom.
«Alright. You need to get some sleep, it'll make you feel better in the morning».
«Bed?» Tally looked up. «I'll take the left side!» She took off, and Sarah could hear as she landed, dead-weight, on the bed. Sarah followed the redhead after getting a glass of water and a swill for the hangover she knew Tally would experience in the morning. When Sarah got into the room, Tally was sitting in the center of the bed in just her lingerie, clothes placed haphazardly on a chair in the corner.
Sarah placed the glass of water on her bedside table, before heading into the bathroom, throwing her clothes into the laundry basket. When she walked out, she pulled a nightgown from the closet on the other side of the room.
Tally was staring at her with such intensity that in different circumstances Sarah would consider it an explicit invitation that she would not miss.
«Have I ever told you how hot you are?» Tally told her in a voice that should have the effect of being low and sensual, but in her drunken state certainly did not have the desired effect.
«Many times», Sarah smirked. «But you're drunk and you really need to go to bed».
She glared, pursing her lips. «No!»
«Goddess Tally, you’re acting like a child. Do you want me to read to you?» Sarah stated, only half serious.
Tally looked down for a moment, before nodding solemnly, as if she was embarrassed. «Please? And...and don't leave?»
«Of course not», Sarah smiled as she climbed into bed, grabbing a book off of the bedside table. «Are you okay with Carmilla?»
Tally nodded, curling up under the duvet. She rested her head on Sarah’s chest as she started to read, eventually falling asleep.
Sarah smiled warmly as she saw the peacefully sleeping face of her favourite redhead, moving so Tally could set her head on the pillow. The young witch let out a whine, clearly not pleased by Sarah’s move, and she wrapped her legs around the older woman so they were as close as possible.
Sarah chuckled quietly before rolling over on her side and pulling Tally on her body.
One of her hands began to play with the girl's red locks, enjoying the softness under her fingertips and inhaling that characteristic jasmine smell she cherished so much. Before she knew it, Sarah heard herself murmuring:
«I love you too, Tally».
