Mattholomule had a secret that wasn't a secret.
It was hidden in stolen glances across the lunchroom.
It was hidden in soft words lost in misty mornings at an old graveyard.
It was hidden in everything he did, and woven into his very soul.
So why was it so obvious?
The first person to find out was Willow. She had seen him for a few moments, while walking with Gus to the graveyard and somehow saw. She gave him a knowing look before leaving that scared him for the rest of the day. He’s not THAT obvious, is he?
The next person was Luz.
She had been pestering him for notes from Pillars for Beginners when she took his scroll to hext it to herself. She only had to have it for a moment before she saw the evidence on his phone. Before she could ask too much, he ran away. Why did he add the heart?
Eventually even Amity knew.
He wanted to curl up into a ball and die, everyone knew and it killed him. They would think he’s weak and pathetic. Falling for someone like him. Going soft. But if he died, he’d never see him again.
Gus would never know.
