Chapter Text
It was a peaceful cool night on the Thousand Sun.
The crew had left the previous island two days prior and Nami had estimated that the next island will only be half a day's journey away. The crew were all still tired from the party they threw the day prior when Luffy caught a rare fish according to Sanji who made good use of it and created a lavish feast. Everyone had opted to turn in early for the night with Usopp taking the first watch.
Usopp laid back against the wall as he sorted out his weaponry, enjoying the cool sea breeze. He normally wouldn’t volunteer for the first shift, but he had been homesick lately, missing his childhood sweetheart, Kaya who is waiting for him back home. Though this adventure had him constantly on his toes and he could never thank the lucky stars enough that he had become a member of the Straw Hat, that he would have real adventure stories to tell her next time he returned.
He missed her.
He missed seeing her smile and amused eyes as she listened to his tales. He was so caught up in his own thoughts that he didn’t notice the slight vibrations and humming in the air. He was only broken out of his concentration when a streak of lightning appeared out of nowhere and struck Thousand Sunny right on its nose.
Crack!
Usopp jumped in surprise and quickly pulled out his binoculars to examine it for any damages, relaxing when it revealed that the Thousand Sunny had surprisingly sustained no damages. He raised his eyebrows in surprise when he didn't hear Franky come out to check on Thousand Sunny. He shrugged the incident off, perhaps Franky had remodeled the ship so that the lightning served to help store up some power for Thousand Sunny in case the Coke runs out. He studied the sky once more, it seemed clear with no signs of upcoming storms. He shrugged once more as he sat back down cross-legged and returned his attention back to his weaponry, failing to notice tiny shadow figures dart across the board, sneaking into a room. However, Usopp was soon interrupted and jumped up in alert when he heard the sound of things crashing down.
Crash!
His eyes widened as he quickly rushed down form the watch post to investigate. Just as he entered the hallway from where the sound was coming from, he yelped when a figure appeared next to him, calming down when he noticed that it was Brook with his sword held in a defense stand.
“You almost gave me a heart attack, Brook!” Usopp exclaimed.
Brook nodded as he placed his bony fingers to where his heart should have been, "me too, Usopp san, you almost scared me to death, even though I am already dead. Yohohohoho"
Usopp sighed, "What are you doing up so late?" He assumed that whatever the ruckus was, had to be Brook as he hadn't seen any ship approach theirs.
"Why, I heard footsteps outside the window and I followed." Brook replied.
"Footsteps?" Usopp frowned.
Brook nodded as he pointed at room down the hallways.
"The kitchen?" Usopp sighed as he recognized the room Brook was pointing towards, "Honestly, I thought Luffy knew better than to break into Sanji's kitchen again after Franky installed those alarm systems."
"I could still hear Luffy san snoring in the room when I woke up." Brook replied bringing a frown onto Usopp's face.
Both shared a grim look before stopping in front of the kitchen, their weapons ready at hand.
“Are you sure, it came in here?” Usopp asked as he turned on his night goggles to get a clearer look at the dark kitchen.
Brook nodded, his skeletal fingers tapping on his sword.
“They could be stealing our food supplies!” Usopp frowned as he scanned through the room, “we have to stop the rat!”
They were just about to step through the entrance when suddenly a pot flew towards them, forcing them to duck and two tiny figures took the opportunity to run.
“Damn it!” Usopp cursed as he disentangled himself from Brook and quickly pulled out a net bead, aiming it at the two figures running away. His shot was however dodged when the two tiny figures made a sharp turn and headed for the door that led down the hall to the medical ward.
“Come on!” Usopp urged Brooke as they both chased after the intruders, “there’s two of them.”
They panted as they arrived at the medical ward, with Usopp entering through the the entrance and Brook floating through the walls into the room. They had heard a tiny grunt before they turned to see the boxes of medical supplies Chopper had just received topple over them.
"That's it!" Usopp frowned as he shoved the cotton ball pads away from his face, "this is war declared!"
"Uhhh... Usopp, Brook?" Chopper spoke up from outside of the entrance, rubbing his sleepy eyes "are you two hurt?"
"No Chopper san," Brooke replied, "but have you seen where the intruders went?"
"Intruders?" Choppers asked sleepily. He looked at them in confusion for a second before his nakama's words settled in and his eyes widened in fear, "Eh?!Intruders? Where? Where?"
"There were two of them-" Usopp said as he stepped into the hallways to look for any signs of the intruders.
"Eh? Two?" Chopper exclaimed as he placed his hooves on both sides of his face, "What to do! What to do!"
"Quiet down! Don't you know you are disturbing the ladies from their beauty sleep?" Sanji appeared as he glared at the three of them.
"Intruders?" Franky spoke up as he neared the little group, "then it's time to test out the Super intruder alarm system!"
"Super intruder alarm system?" Chopper, Usopp and Brook asked with their eyes beaming.
Franky nodded as he pressed a button that appeared on his palm. The entire ship went into lockdown with sirens sounding.It hadn't taken long when a net appeared before them with a figure tangled inside it. One dawning red shirt, blue pants and a straw hat.
"Luffy?" the group exclaimed in shock.
“Luffy san?” Brooke asked in surprise, “were you the intruder?”
“What intruder?” Luffy asked, “the floor opened up and I fell in.”
Franky frowned, “didn’t I tell you that it was a trap and to avoid it?”
“I forgot.” Luffy smiled sheepishly.
“Whatever it is that boarded our ship, you still haven’t caught it then.” Robin concluded as she approached the group with Nami trailing behind her.
Nami frowned, “didn’t you see any ship nearby, Usopp?”
"No..."Usopp muttered, “but Brook and I saw them, the intruders, there were two and they were fast.”
“and left my kitchen in shambles!” Sanji pipped up with a frown as he recalled the state his kitchen was in when he passed by it, “I’m going to murder them when I find them.”
“Well, where are they now?”Chopper asked as he scanned the surrounding. A loud crash sounded from the upper deck and the crew quickly headed towards it.
"Where are they?" Luffy asked as he grabbed onto the watch post, pulling himself up to it for a better view of the whole ship.
“There!” Chopper suddenly exclaimed as he pointed to a tiny crate that was inching closer to the boat they have on board and Luffy reached a hand over to tug a figure out of the cage, causing the figure to yell, “NO! KAIJI!”
Luffy yelped and dropped the figure, pulling back his hand. He waved his finger around in pain, “Ow! It bit me!”
Before anyone had time to react, a tiny figure exited the crate and dashed towards the entrance into the ship where it crashed into the green haired swordsman that was finally awoken from his sleep by all the noise, sending the intruder to fall backwards from the collision.
Luffy took this opportunity to jump down from the watch post and grab onto the figure's shirt, pulling it towards the group.
Everyone’s jaw dropped when they recognize the figure in Luffy’s hand.
“Sanji?” Luffy asked incredulously as he turned to look confusedly at the other Sanji that was still standing next to him and back at the tiny Sanji lookalike in his hands, who looked no older than seven.
“No! Kaiji!” another tiny figure ran out of the cage and headed for the tiny Sanji in Luffy’s hand, a tiny orange in her hand, aiming at Luffy, “let him go!”
The group’s jaw dropped further as they looked at the tiny Nami lookalike with blonde hair who looked to be no older than seven as well.
Kaiji took this opportunity to bite down on Luffy’s hand once more and rushed back to his sister, shielding her, "stay behind me, Mina"
Kaiji's furious glare only softened into one of surprise when he got a clear look of the faces of the people before them, “Uncle Luffy?”
“Papa!” Mina also recognized the figures before them and her eyes beamed as she cried out, rushing towards Sanji with a big smile on her face.
Unable to keep up with the change of events Sanji looked stunned for a second. But only for a second before his instincts kicked in and a big smile stretched across his face, his eyes the shape of hearts as he knelt down to scoop up his daughter into his arms, "Hai hai! Papa's here!"
