The Unnatural Game

Summary:

It has been 4 months since Sunny was discharged from the hospital, and since he was found dead in his new home.

Everyone has taken their own ways of coping with Kel and Hero going through the opposite reactions to how they reacted with Mari's death resulting in Kel locking himself away while Hero keeps trying to get Kel to come out of his room.
Meanwhile, Aubrey has become even more aggressive and refuses to talk to anybody, not even the Hooligans.

Basil has thought about ending his own life to be with Sunny and Mari again, but that changes one day when Basil receives a call from Sunny's mother about a weird program she found on Sunny's old computer, called "OMORI". It was created on the desktop only a few days prior to the call. The creator of the program was listed under "Sunny".

Sunny, even beyond the living will try to get the truth to his friends, no matter how harsh it may be.

this is my first fanfic ever so expect some stupid or badly written parts lol
(criticism is fine though! i really need to improve my writing so any review of it would be greatly appreciated)

Chapter Text

It has been a long day for Sunny.

He'd just rediscovered the truth of what happened to Mari and how he and Basil took part in it and defeated Omori for good so that he couldn't suppress the truth from Sunny ever again. Sunny woke up in the blank realm that used to be White Space, now just showing a single white door, his passage out of White Space for the last time.

He walked through the white door into the darkness.

The darkness then became lighter and lighter until it was a blaring white in his eyes, which then slowly became what appeared to be a room... he saw that he was on a bed with white railings... he saw a bag being held up which was connected to his arm... and a monitor which beeped slowly, which was also connected to his chest.

Sunny was in a hospital, miraculously somehow still alive even after being stabbed in the eye. He knew what he had to do, he had to tell the truth to his friends, even if they would hate him. They deserved it after all, they deserve closure even if it's not the closure they wanted.

Sunny tried to move and get out of his bed, but his legs refused to move. Infact, his whole body refused to move. He'd realised he'd been injected with something that was keeping him from moving his muscles, the only thing he could really move was his eye and inner organs.

He couldn't get the truth out like this, he never could no matter how much he tried to move or yell. Nothing came out of his mouth, and his body was almost completely stiff.
Sunny felt a sense of hopelessness, as Something watched on. Sunny thought he could hear it almost weeping, crying even.

Sunny was hopeless.

1 week later

Sunny was trying to adjust to his new home, his new life, but he couldn't no matter how hard he tried.
He knew he had failed in freeing himself, freeing Basil, freeing Mari.

Sunny was worthless now, he couldn't even go back to see his friends as his mother decided to keep Sunny away from Faraway Town, indefiently. He couldn't take it anymore, the fight against Omori, his journey with his friends, it all meant nothing.

He looked at the knife he had grabbed from the kitchen. He knew it was the only thing left he could do. He had to see Mari again, to at least have the chance to apologize.
Maybe if ghosts were real, he could even come back to somehow reveal the truth to his friends.

It's all the could do now.

Everything will be okay.

He plunged the knife into his stomach, and he saw red.

Notes:

Chapter Text

4 MONTHS AFTER SUNNY'S "INCIDENT"

Basil was once again stuck and absorbed by the sheets of his bed,
it's the only place he can relax now. School was too stressful for him and his attempts at socializing with his
old friends after the incident had failed horribly.

Aubrey was barely seen anymore and when she was seen, nobody wanted to talk to her.
Not even the Hooligans! They'd become too scared of her, after what she did to Kim's arm when she tried to
talk to Aubrey. Basil saw what happened behind a bush, and the sight of Kim screaming with her arm bleeding...
It scared him to pieces, but Aubrey's face showed she was full of uncontrollable rage and anguish.

Kel hadn't been seen in 3 months at this point, and Hero was too busy trying to care for him.
From what Basil had heard from Hero, Sunny's death broke Kel mentally and caused him to cycle into self-hatred towards himself
for letting Sunny commit suicide. He had locked himself in his room 2 weeks after Sunny's death, and stopped
coming out completely a week after that.

Basil was alone. He knew he had Polly, but not even Polly could fill the hole left in his heart.
So instead, Basil distracted himself by taking care of his plants and dreaming of times when they were all together again.
Pretending everything was still okay.

Mari, Sunny, Aubrey, Kel and Hero. Basil was taking photos of them during one of Mari's picnics.

Mari: "Hey Basil, do you think I could have a go at operating your camera? I think it would be fun if we could get all of us in a picture!"

Basil let Mari have a go at taking a photo, and ended up trying to take a photo of everyone at the picnic, including herself.

Mari: "Say cheese, everyone!"

Hero was too busy having one of the picnic snacks to say anything, but tried to smile the best he could for the photo.
Aubrey jumped on Kel's back with a smug smile, with Kel somehow holding her weight.
Sunny didn't say anything as usual and didn't really smile, but Basil tried to get him into a hug and waved to the camera.

"Cheeeeeese!"

The photo was a bit shaky, but it was still pretty cute showing them all hanging out, having fun, feeling truly happy. Together.

A photo showing Mari trying to take a photo at a picnic, with Hero, Aubrey, Kel, Sunny and Basil in the background. Besides Sunny's usual dead-panned face, they all looked happy.

Basil hasn't felt truly happy ever since Mari died. Now he believed he would never be happy ever again, not after Sunny killed himself too.
He looked down at the gardening shears at the corner of the room. The blade still showed slight stains from... Sunny's...
Puke filled Basil's mouth as the thought of what he did to Sunny alone made him sick.

It made him want to scream.

It made him want to die.

He hurt his best friend, abandoned him.

Now he was dead, rotting in the earth.

Alongside Mari's even further decomposed corpse.

He had caused the deaths of two people.

People he was great friends with...

Innocent people.

...

Basil cried himself to sleep that night.

Nothing is okay. Basil doesn't know if it'll ever be again.

Notes:

sorry if this isn't as good as the first chapter
i started writing this before school at like 6am and just finished writing it at 7pm, so there may be some wonky points in this chapter
if you do find anything weird i should change, lmk and I'll update it when i get the chance i guess!

Chapter 3: Swapped Feelings

Summary:

basically after sunny's death, kel and hero have had their reactions to the incident swapped from when mari passed.

(self-harm warning)

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Hero had been struggling recently, especially with Kel's resistance to interact after Sunny died.
He knew a lot of thought's were going through Kel's head when Kel locked himself away 3 week after the incident,
but now it had been 3 months since Kel had taken a step outside his house. Hell, Kel even tried to hide himself
inside as much as he could by wearing a hoodie and pants all the time while trying to hide his face in the shadows
whenever he could.

Hero didn't want Kel to repeat what he went through, demolishing his own life and mental state
after Mari died, and Hero had to especially make sure Kel didn't do anything to anyone else...
or to himself.

Kel felt only guilt and sadness after Sunny died.
He blamed himself for not being a good enough friend and letting Sunny kill himself.
The facade he had managed to hold up after Mari's death didn't work here, he couldn't
put up a fake smile and make new friends so he could pretend everything was "okay".

Nothing was okay, everything was fucking misery to him now.
He was too scared to talk to his friends, his old friends or his basketball mates.

Kel: "God... I'm getting too worked up again..."

Kel grabbed a plastic tool, one with a sharp edge and started taking his hoodie off.
Underneath the arms of the hoodie revealed leftover scratches from yesterday, and a scar from a few days prior.
He began scratching into his arm with the plastic object which was a bit painful, but it at least distracted him
from the thoughts of Sunny. Mari. Basil.

He suddenly heard... somethings talking behind him, but when he looked back, there was nothing.
Weird.

Kel went back to scratching his arm, leaving it covered in grey and harsh lines all over his usually tan coloured skin.

The only reason Hero didn't lock himself away too is because he didn't want to waste his life again,
to fail miserably at college, to end up jobless and on the streets, to disappoint Mari.

To disappoint Sunny.
To disappoint all of his friends.

Hero wouldn't make the same mistake twice... but Kel made that mistake for him.
Now Hero has to sweep up the mess left behind by Sunny's incident and to save Kel from himself.
Before it was too late for Kel.

Before he did something he would regret.

Notes:

heyo, finally got around to writing that third chapter!
the next one will probably revolve around aubrey, and then chapter 5 will probably when stuff starts to roll in the supernatural light, although there's already hints of it as shown here

please let me know if this chapter is good or bad, thanks haha

Chapter 4: Aggressive Isolation

Summary:

Aubrey has to go outside to grab some food and recaps on her last encounter with the Hooligans.

(violence warning, no mention of blood but there is harm and bone-breaking in this)

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Aubrey woke up again, despite the fact she never wanted to. She blamed how unstable the bed was getting sometimes.
She couldn't really bother fixing the bed however, she didn't really want to deal with anything at this point.
Aubrey looked in the cracked mirror and saw a mess of a human being, her hair untidy and over her face with the pink
beginning to fade, showing her bleached hair.

She quickly grabbed a dressing gown and headed downstairs to grab her food, avoided her awful mother
and looked in the fridge. Fuck. No food that was easy to make. There was other food, but they required more effort, she never was a good cooker.
Looks like she'll have to go outside to grab some cereal or fast noodles or something.

Aubrey grabbed some cash from what her mother had left.
400$. Still good, for now.

Aubrey headed outside for the first time in a week or two as the sun blinded her eyes.
After recovering from the blinding light, she walked down the road, past the park and to OTHERMART.
She sighed in relief that nobody had noticed her.

After getting some cereal and bribing the OTHERMART cashier to keep quiet about her, Aubrey walked back
down through the street and past the park. God, the park. She saw the Hooligans there and speeded past the park as fast as she could
in order to be unnoticed by them. After what she did to Kim... I don't think they could be friends again.

2 MONTHS PRIOR

Aubrey was just trying to get home, she didn't want to talk to anybody that afternoon.
The Hooligans though saw her.

Kim: "Hey Aubrey!"

Aubrey heard Kim call out to her and tried to run as fast as she could, but Kim caught up faster and grabbed onto her hoodie.

Kim: "Come on Aubrey, you've barely talked to anyone in atleast a month! We're here to help, you know?"
Aubrey: "Get the hell off of me, Kim."
Kim: "Aubrey, please!"

Kim's grip tightened, Aubrey was getting ENRAGED.

Aubrey: "I said, get the HELL OFF OF ME!"

Aubrey shoved Kim with her elbow in an attempt to get Kim to go away, but Kim PERSISTED.

Kim: "God Aubrey, why are you making this so much more difficult!?"
Aubrey: "I just want to get home, eat my food and sleep. Is that too hard for me to ask?"
Kim: "Yeah, but you haven't talked to anyone! Not us, or even your old friends-"
Aubrey: "SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THEM!"

Aubrey kicked Kim to the ground, and out of uncontrollable rage, she became FURIOUS.

Kim: "I... Aubrey... Plea-"

Aubrey STOMPED on Kim's right arm, sounding out an awful cracking sound and causing Kim
to scream as loud as she could alerting the rest of the Hooligans.

Kim: "AAAAAGGHHH!!"

Aubrey started to run away as she heard the Hooligans run-up to Kim's aid.
Vance: "Jesus Christ, Kim! ANGEL! CALL AN AMBULANCE!"
Angel: "Got it, Vance! I'll be back in a second!"

Aubrey saw Vance run away, presumably to his house to call medical aid.
That's the last she heard and saw of the Hooligans that night.

Aubrey felt a horrible feeling of guilt over her, but she kept walking back to her house.
She didn't want to repeat that again, so she decided to isolate herself from anyone.

When she got home, she opened up the cereal and poured herself some.
After that, she went back up to her room and leapt right back onto her bed.
She just wanted to sleep.

*bonk*

Aubrey looked up after hearing a weird sound in her room. Did something hit the roof?
Maybe. Weirdly, her corkboard was nudged a bit, it wasn't like that before.
She didn't really care anyway, it was maybe ju-

Aubrey snapped her head around after she heard whispers behind her, but there was nothing when she looked.
She wasn't sure at this point if the isolation was driving her crazy or not.
After shuffling around in her bed for a bit longer, she finally fell back asleep.

Little did she know, things would change. Very, very... soon...

Notes:

so now we got two hikikomori characters, one going depression mode, the second still trying to live but being super pissy when people remember she exists, and then we have the worryful brother and the traumatized flower boy.

oh, and the weird whispering people maybe

this maybe the final world building chapter, after this things will begin going into the supernatural/meta stuff i think
then again im creating this story with no previously made plan and im just creating this stuff on the spot so uhhhh
idk lol

once again, please let me know if the story is okay or trash, thank you!!!

Chapter 5: Voicemail

Summary:

Sunny's mother tries to call Basil.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

*ring ring*

...

*ring ring*

Polly woke up after hearing the phone going off downstairs, and bothered to get out of bed but by the time she
got downstairs, the pickup period had already ended and the home phone was waiting for a voicemail.
But she didn't expect who would be on the phone, however.

*BEEP*

"Uhh... Hello? Is this Basil's home phone?"
Polly was a bit confused, who on earth was looking for Basil at this time?

"If you're getting this Basil, I need to talk about SUNNY."
Polly slightly shivered. She knew how close Basil was to Sunny... and how poorly he took Sunny's death.

"While looking around on my son's computer... I found a file... simply called 'OMORI'."
Without Polly's knowledge yet, Basil was listening in the background... he was freaking out.
Why was Sunny's mother trying to call him? Why did she need him at all? Wasn't Basil the one to stab Sunny in the eye?

"It seems to uh... be a game I think Sunny made? I opened it up and it showed a screen with Sunny's face and...
options I think that belong in a video game?"
Basil was nervous, but also really confused upon hearing that. When did Sunny make a game? While he was inside for the last 4 years?

"Basil, I don't know a lot about this stuff, so I'm going to trust it with you, since you're the only one left I can get to.
Everyone else has either been too busy or hasn't answered my calls... please Basil."

...

*BEEP BEEP*

...

Polly: "B... Basil?"
She heard Basil slightly wimpering upstairs.
Basil: "I... why... Why does she... need me...?"

Polly tried to comfort Basil the best she could.
Polly: "Because... you were Sunny's best friend after all-"
Basil: "BEST FRIEND? I STABBED HIM!... IN THE... eye..."

Basil cried loudly before running back into his room.

...

Polly went back down stairs to pick up the phone.

*ring ring*

...

*ring ri-*

...

"Hello? Basil?"

Polly: "Hey, this is Polly. Basil's caretaker."

...

Polly: "Is there any chance we could meet?"

Notes:

things are now beginning to be set into motion, lets goooo

once again, please let me know if this story is alright or bad, cool thanks

also new chapters may be delayed a bit, the weekend ends for me tomorrow so I've got school and stuff
I'll see if i can keep my daily grind going i guess, if not, sorry!!! aghjk

Chapter 6: Pick-Up

Summary:

Polly meets with who used to be Sunny's Mother.

Notes:

sorry for the long wait and horribly short chapter!
school's going on again for a week and I'm also getting caught up in other things as well.
im also slightly losing my juice on this fic (idk why shqdhqwuaqogbfh) but i think it should come along once i get to writing the main stuff (i hope!!)

>> also, sunny's mother is referred to as "SM" to make things shorter and also because im not headcanoning a name right now, maybe in the future i could asadfhg <<

once again, criticism is appreciated, thanks fellas

Chapter Text

THE NEXT DAY

Polly: "Is this the right place..?"
Polly looked at the address that she wrote on her notepad after calling back Sunny's "mother".
She had only found this out after asking Basil, then asking the caller directically.

Suddenly, she heard a car driving up to her location before coming to a stop.
The door opened to reveal a brown haired lady with red lipstick on her. Matched the descriptions of
what Sunny's mother looked like from an old photo of their family.

SM: "Polly?"
Polly: "Yeah. Are you █████?."
SM: "Yep, right person. Okay... I have the DVD right here."

SM hands Polly a DVD case, with the name "OMORI" scribbled on the top.
Polly: "Do you know why the game is called 'OMORI' anyways"
SM: "It think it might be because of... well... M..  Mari's old piano having a brand of... from what I remember... 'OMORI' labelled onto it."
Polly: "Oh..."

Polly puts the DVD in her purse in the meantime.

SM: "About that, I ended up selling the piano to pay for our... my new apartment."
Polly: "Al... Alright..."
SM: "So... you'll bring the DVD to Basil? Promise?"
Polly: "I'll try. Promise."
SM: "Thank you, Polly. He's the only one I can trust with this right now."

Sunny's mother and Polly walked away from each other back to their cars and drove away from the location.
Polly stored the DVD in the car's cup holder.

Oh, how little they knew the hell that game would bring to them.

Notes:

badabing badaboom i finally got a chapter out, even if it's the shortest bloody thing ever
i just haven't had the time to really get this out there, school's taking up a lot of my time and lockdown has gotten me more busy around my house so uh yeah

i sadly don't think i can really promise daily chapters anymore (please don't beat me to death), but I'll still keep this story updated!
if there is a drop in quality, let me know and I'll try to improve my writing for the next chapters

cool thanks, see y'all *falls down stairs*

Chapter 7: CD-ROM

Summary:

Polly brings home the DVD, and Basil takes peeks at what will become a new journey for him.

Notes:

sorry for not updating this for a while, i completely burnt myself out and stuff!!! budyvqeycveawiawaq
but hey, we're finally getting into the yummy juice of the fic!

once again, please feel free to give me criticisms about my writing, it helps me improve so it would be greatly appreciated haha

also I'm introducing something new, thinking things
whenever a character is speaking using quotation marks (person: "bla bla") it means they're saying it out loud
but now whenever a character is speaking using brackets (person: [bla bla]) it means they're thinking it inside their head and not saying it out loud! i guess qwsvfbghmh

alright, enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

4 HOURS LATER

It had been a long day for Polly, she had to drive up 4 hours to Closeby City so she could go and meet Sunny's mother,
retrieve this "game" and then drive 4 hours back to Faraway.
What for? Hopefully helping Basil out of his... "mood" he's in currently, or at least let him have some more memorabilia of Sunny.

Polly knew how much Basil cared for Sunny, even if Basil did take out Sunny's eye with his shears at one point.
She walked upstairs to Basil's room and took the DVD case from her purse. She doesn't know if Basil will
freak out or not, but it's worth a shot.

*knock knock*

Polly: "Hey, Basil..."

...

Polly: "Basil?"
Basil: "Oh... y... yeah?"
Polly: "I've got something for you."
Basil: "What is it...?"
Polly: "Just, come here quickly."

Basil was getting a bit nervous, but he still got up and walked towards the door.
He opened the door a bit, when Polly shoved her hand through with a DVD case in her hand,
which she then gave to Basil before taking her hand back out.

Basil: "w... What is this?"
Polly: "Something Sunny's mother found on his computer."
Basil: "S... Sunny's mum?"
Polly: "Yep. Maybe try it out in that laptop I got you recently."

Oh yeah, that laptop.

A month back, Polly decided if Basil wasn't really going to go outside often, then she'd get Basil
a computer of some kind, so he didn't get too bored and slept in all day like he did prior.
He'd been mainly searching stuff up about taking care of plants... what plants are easy to grow indoors...
how to tie a noose... Wait, What?

After finding out Basil searched that, Polly got some 'techy' guy to install a monitoring program on Basil's laptop
so in case he did search up anything bad like that, she could find out easily.
Well, maybe not so easy. The program kept crashing a lot, from what she found out: Windows XP wasn't a great
program runner. That's just great.

Polly: "Alright Basil... be well!"

Polly shut the door to Basil's room, as he looked at the DVD case in confusion.
OMORI? Where had he heard that before? Basil couldn't quite put his head on it, but he knew he had heard it before...
from somewhere... Basil opened up the CD-ROM on this laptop and put the DVD in.

After a bit of buzzing and file opening, a window showed up, the contents being completely white and blank for a few seconds... before...

OST: 001 TITLE (yt link)

A white background with a 12 year old black and white version of Sunny wearing a tank top, and a title showing "OMORI" with a black lightbulb replacing the middle "O".

The screened showed what appeared to be... Sunny when he was 12, completely black and white and wearing a tank top,
with awfully familiar music playing in the background and the title showing: "OMORI".

Basil: [Is... Is that Sunny?]

Notes:

yep, the bagel has found omri!!!!!!

by the way, sorry for not updating this in ages, i got busy with school and i generally burnt myself out.
i cant really promise a stable upload schedule from this point on, so you'll just have to wait to see whenever i upload a new chapter!

by the way, i also uploaded a (maybe the first ever idk lol) omori/saw crossover thing called "basil's test" so if you wanna read some more dumb crap i wrote, check it out here (INTENSE BLOOD/GORE, SELF-HARM AND CHARACTER DEATH WARNING!) https://archiveofourown.org/works/33507766

ok, thanks for reading this dumb thing!!! *gets pushed into lake*

Chapter 8: stupid author update (not an actual chapter, sorry)

Summary:

not an actual chapter, but just a quick update to inform y'all im not dead (yet)
+ some fic ideas im tossing out there for those who want to use them

Notes:

no chapter, sorry

Chapter Text

heyo, it's me! i'm not dead! i think!

sorry for the huge wait for the next chapter, i accidentally burned myself out on this, got caught up on school then kept putting off working on this constantly like jesus i haven't touched the file for chapter 8 in like a week!!!

i think i just got myself over stressed due to the hype building around this (which is still a mystery to me like, how on earth did this build up so much hype???) and proceeded to keep putting this off in case the thing i released ended up being absolute dogshit asdfghjl

i'll try to get some actual progress on c8 done tonight and i'll get it out at some point

also, i have ideas for like other omori stories and stuff i'll probably just toss out there in case anyone else wants to pick them up just so i don't get distracted from this main thing again and end up not writing for a week

  • another omori/saw crossover (heavy omori & moderate saw spoilers) sunny pushes mari downstairs by accident, but basil isn't so wacky and actually calls the ambulance (which means mari lives) but sunny runs away. at some point the story spreads around about the incident and it gets the attention of one of john kramer's assistants (maybe amanda or somebody) who recently spotted the boy around the local city (the city where saw takes place is never fully given a name in the movies i think) so they inform john kramer, john kramer and assistants track down sunny and proceed to test him, sunny survives and becomes an assistant alongside kramer and stuff where he stays alongside kramer from saw 1 to the period of saw 5 (2003-2006) in which he maybe comes up with trap ideas and stuff due to sunny being creative as balls. after kramer's death, sunny leaves the city shortly after and returns to faraway. he hides away from his friends for a bit (maybe does a few trademark traps if sunny was taught how to build traps) but then mari and da gang find him and celebrate, only to track him back to being an assistant of john kramer, aka the jigsaw killer. shit ensues.

  • a month before sunny comes out, bagel goes mad crazy after being bullied a bunch and proceeds to beat the shit out of aubrey. not sure if this is serious or a crack fic

  • mari dies and becomes ghost, she sometimes takes control of something (eg, the stair/spider monsters, she's probably not hellmari or black space something) and uses those sequences to get sunny to stop being afraid of them, and also for slight revenge and smugness after being killed by sunny due to s t a i r

alright, enjoy those ideas you lot (if you do use them and post a fic about them, please let me know, i would love to read them haha), and I'll get chapter 8 of this out at some point, and yes c8 is actually when we get onto the main gameplay and stuff

chao y'all!

Chapter 9: WHITE SPACE

Summary:

Basil starts the game and enters WHITE SPACE.

Notes:

ah yes, i finally stopped being lazy and stressed and stuck in school and finally finished chapter 8!
if you haven't checked yet, tune into the last "chapter" to get a better explanation of why i was gone for so long + some gifts in forms of fic ideas for you lot to use

once again, criticism is greatly appreciated

cool thanks, enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Basil was still a bit in shock after seeing the title screen, even 5 minutes after he saw it.
When the hell did Sunny make a game? Is this what Sunny did within the last 4 years he was inside?

Basil: [W.. Weird... He never even mentioned this once...]

Upon closer inspection of the menu, there was no file to be loaded as the continue button was
inaccessible (well, that's what Basil guessed from what he remembered from playing games with
Sunny years ago) so the only option he had was to start a new game.

Basil: [Okay... here we... go?]

...

Nothing happened, the enter key didn't work.
Basil then realised how stupid he was, as the title screen itself showed what the controls were.
"[Z] to CONFIRM, [X] to CANCEL"

After finally figuring that out, he properly started a new game.
The screen cut to black.

...

...

Suddenly, a sound belonging to a film reel played as a crunched paper like black background faded in
with a message: "DON'T WORRY..." scribbled onto it before changing to... "EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OKAY."

A phase Basil is awfully familiar with, too familiar.

The screen then showed a drawing of a crying boy, who looked awfully like Sunny.

...

"NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS..."

...

"PROMISE ME THAT WE'LL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER..."

Then a drawing appeared of himself and Sunny, in front of a black door casting a white shadow.

Basil: [Oh... is... is this about us?]

"PROMISE ME..."

...

The screen became pitch black again for a few seconds before a clicking sound played and the
crunchy black background reappeared with new text displaying:

"WELCOME TO WHITE SPACE."

The screen then showed a white room with a monochrome version of Sunny like the one Basil
saw on the title screen, a laptop, a box of tissues and a black lightbulb. He had a feeling
that the lightbulb could be important later on.

"YOU HAVE BEEN LIVING HERE FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN REMEMBER."

The screen then went pitch white for a few sections, before a song started to play.

OST: 002 WHITE SPACE (yt link)

The screen started panning downwards, showing a black line, then revealing it connected to the
black lightbulb shown earlier, showing the rest of the room and then centred on the boy from the drawing as well.

Basil waited...

...

and waited...

...

Oh, yeah. This is a video game, not a movie. He almost forgot that for a second.
Basil started trying to find what keys moved the character, he remembered that from a time when
Sunny used to play on his GAMEBOY.

Basil: "Hey Sunny, what's that you're using?"

Sunny: "Video game."

Basil: "Huh, nice! What's it like?"

Sunny: "Press the arrows to move the guy, use other buttons to fight."

Basil: "Alright, not really the fighter type... heh... You've always had a lot of fun with those...
RP Games? Or whatever they're called?"

Sunny: "RPG Games."

Basil: "Oh, sorry!"

The memory felt so distant now, but it would explain why Sunny picked a game like this,
he loved those RPG games. Basil let out a very, very subtle smile.

Basil's affirmations were confirmed when he pressed the arrow keys on his keyboard, which moved
the monochrome Sunny. He began walking around the area, before going to the black cat, who looked
similar to Mewo, despite being a very pixelated version of her.

...

He pressed the [Z] key, hoping it would work. Good news, it did.

Bad news, what Mewo said wasn't really useful. Basil tried it again, still had the same message.

Basil: [Bit uh... Useless? I think? Unless there's a secret I'm missing...?]

Basil then moved up to the tissue box and interacted with it.
"A tissue box for wiping your sorrows away."

Basil: [Oh, okay...]

He then moved up to the sketchbook and was presented with an option:
"Your sketchbook. Take a look inside?"
Basil was then presented with a yes or no option, which he picked yes because he still
needs to figure out what's going on here. Maybe it would explain what's going on.

So, the sketchbook didn't explain anything, and the drawings inside only made
Basil even more nervous. Lots of red, lots of cats, and an absolute shit ton of abstractness to
the point Basil couldn't understand a thing.

Basil: [I... uh... o... kay...?]

He decided to not confuse himself further and move over to the laptop.
Upon interacting with the laptop, a text appeared: "You booted up your laptop." before the screen
faded to show a pixelated desktop screen with options of staring at the screen, opening "your journal" and
logging off.

Basil chose to open the journal, which showed an extensive amount of mostly the same message:
"DAY ???" then something about spending time with his "friends" or staying in White Space.

After a bit, Basil closed the screen which returned him to the options of the laptop, which then
he chose to stare at it.

...

"You stared at the screen."

Basil: [Great time wasting... Basil...]

After that waste of time, Basil chose to log off which then returned him to the bland view of White Space with some text:
"The heat from the laptop warmed your lap. It felt nice."

...

*RUMBLE*

...

*CLANK*

"Something fell nearby."

Basil decided to try to "find" what that was but then ended up encountering what appeared to be a floating
red hand, which started chasing Basil when he got too close. Basil was a bit freaked, but it wasn't anything too bad as the
hand just ended up teleporting Basil back to the centre of White Space.

After a bit of looking, Basil found a knife on the ground.

"You got a SHINY KNIFE."

A red hand then got him again, which teleported him back to White Space's centre.
After a bit of waiting around, Basil decided to interact with the white door nearby.

"A white door casts a faint shadow. What would you like to do?"

Basil was given the option to do nothing or to open the door. Basil knew that waiting around wouldn't
really do much (well, that's what he guessed) so he decided to open the door.
The door opened up revealing darkness inside, as the music faded out.

The monochrome Sunny walked in before the door closed behind him, and the screen faded to white.

A new journey had begun, and soon Basil would meet Omori's friends.

Notes:

bagel has gone through white space and soon he'll meet the crackhead versions of kel, aubrey and hero omori calls his friends lol
