9 O'Clock on a Saturday

Summary:

A normal day at Diablo's bar.

Work Text:

Lucifer walked into his friend's bar which just consisted of an old liquor cabinet, a beat up piano, and some crates hidden near a junkyard. It was all the older pitbull could get but it was one the most popular spots for dogs to hang on in the city. He walked over to the piano like he always did and started playing a sad song.
“Hey Lucifer,” said Santa, a schnauzer who was the oldest dog in the bar. “Could you play my song?”
So Lucifer started playing the song which neither of them know the name of but still was both of theirs favorite song. After the song was finished they both walked over to the bar and Diablo the pitbull bartender, whose fur was completely black, gave them two glasses of beer.
“No it’s on the house,” said Diablo as Santa started getting up to get two dog treats to pay the bill.“ Lucifer is an old friend of mine. We escaped the same dog fighting ring together.”
“Oh,” said Santa a little nervously.
“Don’t worry about it. To be honest I wish I had told you sooner. You have been coming to the bar quite often in the past year,” Dialo said, cheerfully trying to lessen Santa’s nerves.
“Hey Diablo, have you gotten a movie role yet,” Lucifer asked, sensing the underlying sadness in his answer as he sipped his beer.
“No, not yet. I hope to get one soon but it seems that this town is getting more nervous about pitbull,” said Diablo, genuinely happy to be asked.
“Yeah, Seattle isn’t what it used to be,” said Santa, sad for what some of his friends had to deal with.
Across the bar Lucifier noticed Glacier and Butch talking about something. Butch was a pessimistic german shepard who worked as a police dog. In complete contrast Glacier was a pitbull husky mix who always had a cheery disposition and whose owner was Butch’s partner. Yet they both were inseparable and when Butch wasn’t working you would never see one without the other.
Lucifer then got up to walk over to see what they were talking about. This caused Santa look back and giving a warm smile tilted his head towards Butch and Glacier and then went back to drinking his beer.
“Funny seeing you guys here,” Lucifer said cheerfully as he got over to the crate they were sitting at.
“Lucifer,” Butch said a little surprised “nice to see you too.”
“What are you guys talking about,” asked Lucifer out of curiosity.
“We're coming up with a plan to bust a drug ring,” said Glacier way too happily for what he was saying.
“Yes, I would wait to do it with the police department backing me up but I fear that they are catching on the the fact the the police are onto them,” Butch said seriously staring slightly at Glacier, “You are not going Glacier though. You know as well as I that that area has a crazy lady living there that will shoot any dog she thinks is a pitbull on site. I can’t lose you.”
“It seems like you're really busy then. I see you guys tomorrow, hope the bust goes well,” said Lucifer leaving them and heading back to the old piano prying to whoever was listening that his friends would be safe.
