Dinner With Vlad

Summary:

If Vlad never went on the cruise and stayed back to watch the hotel instead, Dracula also proposed to Ericka on the ship instead of the roof.

This is how I imagine it would play out.

“So, What do you do for a living?”

Ericka gazed at the sparkling red ruby ring that was wrapped around her finger.

“Oh! I..Uh..” Dracula snapped his attention away from the window as he was caught off guard by her question. They were riding in the backseat of a private hearse that Dracula had rented for them for the ride back to the hotel. I guess he thought they would have been engaged in romantic actions, but they were doing nothing more than sitting in awkward silence almost the entire way, on opposite sides of the car. “...I own a hotel.”

“Oh really?” She replied, looking over at him, “it’s like we’re the same person.”

“Hehe...yeah.” He acknowledged as they both exchanged small awkward chuckles and plummeted back into silence as they both started to look out of the windows again. A few minutes passed as they started to drive on a dirt road through a dark and foggy forest, showing that they were getting closer to their destination. Dracula started to fiddle with his thumbs, not really sure how to start a conversation. He put his hands down and started to pat the seat in the deafing silence.

He slightly scooted closer to her, slid his hand on top of hers, and gently squeezed it. It caught her attention and she turned her head to see him gazing back with a small smile. She didn’t really know what he was doing, or if this was his way of asking for something, so she just returned the smile and squeezed his hand back. They stayed that way for an uncomfortable amount of time. “Do...you need something or...are you just staring at me?” She asked.

“Oh...I was just admiring how beautiful you are.” He cooed, leaning closer to her, causing her to blush and smirk,

“mmm, you're quite dapper yourself.” She mumbled, leaning towards him, wrapping her arms around his neck. They brushed noses, but before they could continue the hearse hit a fairly large pothole in the road, causing them to smash their foreheads together. “OWW!” She yelped, gritting her teeth and rubbing her forehead. Drac regained his senses and saw that she had gotten hurt. He scrambled back over to her,

“Oh I’m so sorry!” He babbled, sitting next to her and gently lifting her hand off of her forehead to inspect the injury. A small bruise had already started to form, but it didn’t look too serious.

“It’s...alright…” She mumbled a reply, shifting her attention to the windshield seeing that they were now in an underground tunnel.

“When we get to the hotel I’ll get you an ice pack.” He said to her, putting her hand down and backing up a little bit to give her some space.

“Wait, why are we going to your hotel?” She asked, confused, “Don’t you live somewhere else?”

“I actually live where I work.” He explained as the car reached the end of the tunnel, putting them out on a large stone bridge, bringing the hotel into sight. She couldn’t really get a good look at it from the backseat so she rolled her window down and stuck her head out of it. She had never seen a building to this proportion before, so her mouth hung open as they pulled over next to the stairs at the entrance.

“If you think this is impressive, wait until you see the inside!” Drac exclaimed, grabbing their suitcases and hopping out of the car. She got out and just stood at the base of the stairs, he walked up next to her as the hearse pulled away. He gently nudged her shoulder causing her to glance over at him. He gestured for her to follow him, leading her up the stairs and through the spinning door. Drac started to say something to her, but she was so overwhelmed by everything going on around her she didn’t hear a thing he said until the last few words,

“Just wait here I’ll be right back.” He then pecked her on the cheek and rushed over to an elevator. She didn’t know what he was going to do, so she just stood there as that was the only thing she comprehended from what he said.

Ericka had been standing there for a good five minutes when she started to get weird looks from the other monsters and humans in the lobby. A Knight that was on duty watching over everyone had noticed her as well. And when she was on her phone checking the time again, it marched over to her and startled the living daylights out of her,

“HELLO MA’AM!” It said to her in a friendly but loud voice, causing her reflexes to kick in as she dropped her phone and punched the knight directly in the face. The force of her punch caused its visor to spin rapidly until it stopped. “I didn’t mean to startle you, ma’am,” it told her in a softer voice, “I just wanted to make sure that you didn’t need help with anything.” She raised her eyebrows but before she could respond Drac walked out of an elevator with an ice pack in his hand.

“Oh! Marshall! Good to see you again!” Drac called, walking over to them.

“SIR! you have finally returned!” Marshall saluted and stood up straight.

“Indeed I have!” He replied, standing next to Ericka and handing her the ice pack. She put it gingerly on her forehead as Drac kissed her cheek again and held her free hand, “I see you’ve met my fiancé.” Marshall seemed to be surprised,

“Fiancé?! My apologies Mrs. Dracula!” Marshall bowed to her, causing her to blush.

“Oh It’s quite alright!” She responded, “...sorry for punching you.”

“Apology accepted,” Marshall said in return, “Mavis and the others are waiting for you.”

“They’re already here?” Drac asked.

“They’ve been waiting, sir.”

Drac and Ericka headed over to the bar and saw everyone sitting at a few of the booths as Griffin was keeping all of them entertained, “and then I said, ‘you're the one in DE NILE!’” Causing everyone to chuckle at him. And of course, Vlad was there as well.

“Hey there’s the big shot!” Vlad laughed, making everyone’s attention turn to them. All of their greetings were mixed together in one loud commotion. He took notice of Ericka standing quietly next to Drac, not really sure what to do. “And who may this be?” He asked, making everyone look at one another.

“Oh, th-“ Drac started to reply, but then Vlad stood up walked past them,

“Actually, you can tell me everything at dinner!” As he walked out of the room. Everyone else followed slowly behind mumbling amongst themselves,

“This outta be good-“ Someone said as they walked back into the lobby.

“...who was that?” Ericka asked as they started back into the lobby and over to the elevators.

“That was my dad,” Drac replied, as the elevator opened and they stepped inside, “he stayed here and watched over everything while all of us went on vacation.”

(I don’t know how to transition XD)

Ericka peaked into the dinning room where Vlad, Dennis, Winnie, Mavis, Johnny, and Drac were already sitting at the table waiting for her. All of his friends said that they had other things to do but in reality they were all crowded outside of the windows wanting to see what was going to happen. “Look who finally decided to show up.” Mavis announced, not looking up from her phone.

“S-Sorry I’m late.” Ericka said, walking over to her empty seat next to Drac and sitting down.

“So, go on and introduce yourself.” Vlad encouraged, grabbing his glass and taking a sip of the liquid.

“Um...My name is Ericka-“ She was about to say her last name, but one glance from Drac and she decided against it, “-and I zinged with your son.” This made Vlad almost choke on his drink. He swallowed,

“WHAT?!”

“I know it sounds impossible but it actually happened!” Drac tried to explain.

“But ‘you only zing once’ is what we’ve gone by for centuries!” Vlad replied.

“Yeah, but times have changed! Maybe zinging once was a thing of the past!” Ericka tried to hop back into the conversation.

“That’s not how it works.” Drac whispered to her, causing her to scowl.

“Ok so you have a girlfriend now, big whoop.” Vlad sassed, resting his head on his hand.

“Actually we’re engaged…” Ericka commented quietly, making Vlad’s eyes widen.

“YOU WERE ONLY GONE FOR A WEEK!” He exclaimed, making Drac release a annoyed sigh,

“You KNOW I move fast in relationships!”

“Kind of like how you did with Martha, but we all saw how that turned out.” Vlad responded, finally setting Drac off.

He stood up and snarled, “LEAVE HER OUT OF THIS!!”

“Honey calm down!” Ericka piped up, grabbing his arm and forcing him to sit down. She noticed that Mavis was slightly snickering at them, with her phone angled slightly up at them as if she was recording. Their arguing fizzled out once the food was served, so they ate in the tense silence.
