Xiao’s busy, Venti gets disappointed, they try to compensate for their various cancelled dates.

Work Text:

"Xiaoo."

Said male turns around to look at the other person who had joined him where he was sitting alone on the couch, laptop on his lap.

"Venti."

The older male with braids grins lopsidedly.

"Are you bored?" Xiao says, mood shifting immediately at the sight of him, quickly putting the laptop aside.

"Mhm." Venti replies, pouting, although eyes brightening immediately at the quick response.

Xiao smiles ever so slightly.

Venti plops down on Xiao’s lap, facing him, wraps his arms around him, and leans into the crook of his neck.

Xiao sighs and runs his hands through his lover’s hair.

“I’m sorry for cancelling our date again, you know how I’ve been busy all day.”

Venti nods and frowns understandingly, sighing.

"I sped up my work slight bit to get some off time, it still took longer than expected. What do you want to do now?" Xiao replies, now wrapping his arms around Venti's neck.

Venti smiles again, brightening up immediately before leaning in to put their lips together.

He tugs on Xiao's bottom lip and buries his hands in the dark teal hair as he grins.

They both pull away some time after, breathless, Xiao and takes the interval to attack Venti's neck, sinking his teeth into his collarbones.

Pausing, Xiao looks at Venti, eyebrows creased, before asking, "Are you okay with this?"

He nods and chuckles.

"So aggressive today are we?"

Xiao shrugs before placing long, deep kisses into Venti's neck.

He hums.

"Darling?" Venti asks, raising his eyebrows when Xiao pauses.

"Hm?"

"What are you doing?"

"Staring at you, what's wrong? Can't I admire my boyfriend?" Xiao replies in his usual blunt manner, although his eyes were bright as they usually were when surrounded by Venti.

Venti sighs half-heartedly and laughs before giving small effort into mock-punching him on the chest.

"So, what now?"

"Don't know, want a movie night and popcorn?"

Venti laughs again and nods.

"One popcorn coming right up, you set up the Netflix or something." he says, getting up from Xiao's lap, headed to the kitchen.

"Got it sir."

It doesn't take long for Xiao to hear pops from their run-down microwave-oven all the way from the kitchen, which they had bought off from a cheap garage sale two years back.

He quickly enters his password into his laptop and logs in while recollecting the memory. It had been a busy day. They had been looking for basic furniture, probably visiting every single garage sale in all of Liyue city till Venti had spotted the thing. After bargaining for nearly an entire hour with the elderly couple who sold it, they got it off at three hundred Mora.

When Xiao had asked Venti why he was so persistent to buy it, he had laughed it off and said that he wanted to occasionally cook with Xiao.

That night, miraculously enough, they didn't cause the apartment to explode, though their attempt at cooking the small portion of chicken was not exactly restaurant quality.

Xiao's broken out of his trance when he snaps back into reality to see Venti with a bowl, already sitting next to him.

"Hi, you seemed dazed." he says, grabbing a handful of the cooked kernels and popping a few into his mouth, grinning.

Xiao nods and says, "It's nothing, just remembering the first time we used that microwave-oven thing."

"Oh! I remember that!." Venti replies as his eyes brighten up even more than they already were.

"You still do?"

"Of course, sure, I constantly can't remember where I leave the keys to my studio but I can for sure remember every minute I've spent with you."

"Corny bastard."

Venti grins wickedly as he puts his popcorn aside and tackles Xiao onto the sofa, so that he was now lying on him, arms supporting his weight.

"You love this corny bastard and you know it."

“I do, what’re you gonna do about it?” Xiao asks, swiftly rolling Venti over with ease as he softly pins his arms to the couch.

“This!” the male with braids says as he releases his own arms, grabs Xiao’s face gently and closes the gap between their lips.

They stay like that just for a moment, letting the world around them blur, even if it was just for a few seconds.

Xiao’s arms eventually give in and he falls into Venti, causing the latter to yelp at the disruption.

“Way to ruin the moment!” Venti scolds.

Xiao quickly regains his balance and peppers kisses on Venti’s forehead.

“Apologies, will that suffice?”

"Barely."

The male with teal hair sighs, stands, and picks up his boyfriend bridal-style, causing him to yelp yet again.

He swiftly carries him into their shared room and dumps him on the bed.

Venti can only raise his eyebrow and open his mouth before he's cut off by Xiao tickling him in the stomach.

He screams and laughs until tears start running down his face, and Xiao shakes his head half-heartedly.

"Did you just smile?" Venti asks, still panting and grinning.

"Did I?"

"Yeah, you should really do it more, you look pretty."

"I do?"

Venti smiles and moves to lie his head down on Xiao's lap.

"You're silly, you know that?''

"I wasn't aware, I thought you were the silly one out of us two?" Xiao asks, blinking.

"Idiot."

"I am not an idiot."

"You're my idiot."

Xiao shrugs and says: "I've always been yours."

"Fair."

They both sit there in comfortable silence before Xiao asks, "So what about the popcorn?"

"Let it be, I wanna sleep," Venti groans, and Xiao nods, moving to make sure he's comfortable.

Slowly he falls into his slumber, leaving Xiao to stare at him, with his messed up braided hair, dishevelled clothes, and marks on his neck still visible from earlier.

He admires his work for a little while before leaning against the head of the bed and finally falling asleep himself.
