“Teaching my girlfriend how to make a flower bouquet in light of me opening a flower shop! Like and subscribe!”
Hu Tao smiles at her girlfriend’s actions before saying, “Yan, there are no cameras.” Her girlfriend giggles, “Just play along, okay?” She gives the brunette around 15 flowers, the four roses and one Glaze Lily being the only ones she could identify. “What do I do with these?” Yanfei doesn’t answer.Hu Tao blankly looks at the flowers, “When can I wrap these? I can wrap these, right?”
Yanfei sighs, “Tao, I love you, but just wait for my instructions.” Hu Tao raises an eyebrow, “Being assertive, I like that. You should do that more often.” Her girlfriend looks at the brunette in confusion.
“What?” Yanfei shakes her head, “Just… use the one glaze lily, that’ll be in the center. Then there will be four other roses around it, then you scatter the remaining ten flowers; I gave you exactly fifteen.” Hu Tao puts her thumb up. “Got it!” I do not got this.
“Follow my lead.” Yanfei holds up one rose and waits for Hu Tao to do the same. “Okay, you see the four roses, right?” Hu Tao nods. “Good. Arrange the other roses one by one around the center rose to create a dome shape.” Dome… shape. Upside down bowl.
“Like this?” Yanfei looks at Hu Tao, “Yes! That’s great! Next, just keep wrapping the remaining flowers around the five roses.” The brunette nods. “What flowers are these?” The florist doesn’t turn to her before answering, “One Glaze Lily, four White Roses, five Calla Lilies, and five white Orchids.” Hu Tao finishes her bouquet and observes it.
Awful amount of white… isn’t white usually in weddings? Her eyes widen and land on Yanfei. Is she… proposing? No, right? Probably stuff she needs to do for a wedding. I mean, I’m totally ready to marry her but holy shit, now? Why now? I was supposed to propose to her next week! I need to look for a ring. Wait.
“Yanyan, I’m done with arranging the flowers! What next?” Yanfei grabs a green tape and a pair of scissors, “Floral tape! Here, let me show you.” She holds the bouquet and shows Hu Tao how she uses the floral tape. Floral tape… cool. Damn, being a florist is kind of neat. I think that’s just my girlfriend being the best person ever and having so much charisma and making flower arrangement look like the best thing to do in the world.
“Taotao? Did you hear what I said?” Yanfei waves her hand in her girlfriend’s face. “Sorry. Didn’t get much sleep last night.” The brunette receives a look of confusion, “Your snores kept me up last night. But, whatever. I was probably already dozing off. I know you wake up at random times at night. Anyways, we’re going to make more of these, uh… we’ve got two down so there’s… eight more. We could each make four bouquets. You know, this wedding is quite small. We’re actually part of it. Not just as wedding designers, though.” Hu Tao furrowed her eyebrows. Is this our wedding? Or someone else’s? If this is Yanfei’s way of proposing then… that’s actually cute. Power play; saying you’ve already got the wedding planned out.
“Really? What will we be doing there?” Yanfei hands Hu Tao a bunch of flowers, “We’ll be bridesmaids. This is my fault, honestly, I forgot to tell you we’re invited to Ningguang and Beidou’s wedding and they asked me to help with the flower arrangements for their wedding and, I don’t know, I got too excited about everything I forgot to tell you-.” Hu Tao shushes her, “Hey, it’s okay! There’s no need for you to be sorry! I’m glad they approached you for this.” The brunette wraps her bouquet in floral tape and smiles at Yanfei. “Thanks. Can I have the tape?”
“Nice, two bouquets left! I assume these are for the brides-to-be?” Yanfei nods. “You’re right! So they’re going to have to stand out, Beidou’s bouquet will have a Silk Flower in the middle and four Cecilias around it while Ningguang’s bouquet will still have the Glaze Lily in the middle but also have four Cecilias. The remaining ten flowers around those would still be five Calla Lilies and five white Orchids. Here,” Yanfei hands a Silk Flower to Hu Tao, “you make Beidou’s bouquet and I’ll make Ningguang’s bouquet.” The brunette puts a thumb up.
“Oh my God, we’re done!” Hu Tao and Yanfei squeal, “We’re done! Where do we put this?” Yanfei looks at the multiple flower bouquets in front of them, “I’ll figure that out. For now, can you look at this bouquet I made? It was the design I showed to Beidou and Ningguang before they gave me suggestions.” She hands a bouquet to Hu Tao. “Hey, this Glaze Lily hasn’t bloomed yet.” Yanfei nods, “The idea I had in mind was that one of- or both brides- could sing to the flower and it blooms in front of everyone at the wedding.”
“That’s a great idea!” Yanfei blushes, “Thanks. The only reason they turned it down was because neither of them could sing. But, I didn’t want to throw it away so I decided to give it to you.” Hu Tao looks at Yanfei, then the bouquet, then back at Yanfei. “Am I supposed to sing?” The pink-haired lady nods. Hu Tao’s singing voice wasn’t the best, but it was decent, so she had no problems with singing in front of her girlfriend, she’d done it a lot of times.
“ Recalling the blurred childhood memories, clouds floating in the blue sky. ”
Our Love by F.I.R. Yanfei thought. It was one of the couple’s favorite songs. They never sang it together but when the two had trouble sleeping, that song helped overcome that.
“ Back then, you said you wanted to hold my hand and walk to the ends of time together. ” Hu Tao watched as the Glaze Lily bloomed in front of her, and continued singing.
“ From then on, I don't dare to raise my head. It seems that my sky has lost its colour. From that day on, I forgot (how) to breathe. The tears forever, I won’t cry again.”
The song was sad, but they still loved listening to it nonetheless. The couple spent many rainy mornings dancing to this song in their shared home; the memory brought a smile to Yanfei’s face while she listened to Hu Tao sing.
“ Our love, once it's gone it won't ever return. Until now, I'm still silently waiting. Our love, I understand, has become your burden. It's just that, forever, I won't be able to let go the last warmth. ” Yanfei softly sang along, “ The warmth that you gave. ”
“Hey, look, the flower bloomed.” The brunette sighs and looks at the Glaze Lily. A ring. “There’s a ring.” Yanfei smiles, “I would get down on one knee but I don’t think the floor’s that clean, so…” She nervously laughs. “Hu Tao, I’ve actually got no speech prepared. I asked Beidou and Ningguang for advice for this and they just told me to use this bouquet, they said they’d use this in their wedding if only one of them could sing. You are the greatest thing that’s happened to me and… I’d like it if we legally recognized the union of two people- those two being us. Point is, will you marry me?”
Okay, so, I did not see this coming. Maybe I did. “I was supposed to propose to you.” Hu Tao shakily laughed, Yanfei following along. “Is that a yes?” The brunette nods and leans in to kiss Yanfei, who happily kisses back.
“You said you were supposed to propose to me, right?” Hu Tao nods. “I honestly have zero plans for that but I know it was supposed to be next week.” She wears the ring, “Oh my God, that’s really beautiful.” Yanfei laughs, “I know, right? I saw it while I was going out to do some errands and immediately bought it. The idea to propose came to me after having purchased the ring. It’s just so beautiful and it reminded me of you.”
“Really? How so?” Yanfei answers, “Well, you’re beautiful and worth every single mora I make.” Hu Tao turns red. “After Beidou and Ningguang’s wedding, we’re going to be planning ours soon.”
