Morning

Summary:

Gavin actually really looks forward to his mornings, surprisingly.

Mornings used to be dreadful. He would have to crawl out of the sweet grasp of sleep and force himself to grab a cup of coffee before rushing to work in an attempt to not be late. It was honestly hell for him.

However, mornings were no longer lonely. They were filled with soft caresses and gentle kisses. They were perfect. They are perfect.

Work Text:

Gavin actually really looks forward to his mornings, surprisingly.

Mornings used to be dreadful. He would have to crawl out of the sweet grasp of sleep and force himself to grab a cup of coffee before rushing to work in an attempt to not be late. It was hell for him.

However, mornings were no longer dreadful, or even lonely. He was always carefully eased out of sleep, rather than pulled out by his alarm. Mornings were filled with soft caresses and gentle kisses. They were perfect. They are perfect.

That’s exactly how he feels when he wakes up today.

There’s a gentle warmth that envelopes his skin so pleasantly. It’s almost like he’s swimming through molasses, and he doesn’t want to get out.

He’s slow to realize that a combination of the soft duvet and his lover is what’s keeping him so warm, considering that it was winter in Detroit. He can feel the gentle beat of his thirium pump thrumming against his side.

He smiles a little at a new, tingly warmth that trails over his skin. He moves closer to it, chasing it blindly, familiar with who it’s coming from.

“Good morning, my love,” the voice, belonging to Nines, his lover, says.

Gavin looks down, seeing Nines leaving soft pecks over the skin of his neck while trailing his fingertips over his stomach. He sighs softly and takes a better glance around the room.

It’s still mostly dark. The only bit of light comes from the windows. Gavin assumes it’s only barely sunrise. There’s no gray or orange-gold of the early morning sky peaking through the curtains.

The comforting warmness seeps into his skin and deep into his body. He can feel Nines’s heated skin against him, pressing close.

“Good morning, baby. C’mere,” Gavin mumbles, his voice low from sleep.

Nines shifts up, stradling Gavin now. He leaves feather-soft kisses all over his face, the sensation of it making Gavin laugh gently. The sound makes Nines’s thirium pump beat harder.

Nines thinks Gavin sounds gentle and delicate. The sound and sight of his partner are undoubtedly beautiful, in his perspective. He can never get tired of this in the morning.

“I hope you know just how much I love you, Nines.”

Gavin pulls Nines impossibly closer.

“And I hope you know how much I love you too, Gavin.”
