|| Chat Blanc's 3rd Person POV|| (Basically what if Ladybug had failed a second time to save him in the Chat Blanc episode) Got this idea from a mental breakdown I had an hour or so ago.
"You won't make it this time, M'Lady.." Chat Blanc purred.
His eyes glinted with the will to kill. Was it to kill? He wasn't sure at all. Everything has been blurred over with a haze of confusion and anger. But at what? Once more, he was not sure.
"Chat! Stop it! I'm here to help you!" Ladybug calls out, dodging another cataclysmic ball of energy.
"I'm trying to fix this, M'Lady! Just hand me your miraculous!" He responds with an eerie tone.
It has been a couple weeks, no, no. Months. Yeah, that seems more legit. It had been months since the whole showdown with HawkMoth, himself, and his lady. There was something about HawkMoth that drove him mad, a confused and angered state. But what? It's as if the thought no longer lingered in his mind. In fact, it's no longer there. Just a void of light and happiness. A void he was willing to fill at any cost.
He knew for a fact that it has something to do with Ladybug, and that he needed the miraculouses for that. But alas, his lady was being stubborn. Refusing to allow him to amend for the error and fix the problem. And that in itself made him furious.
"Chat, that's not the way to go!" Ladybug pleads, her eyes filled with fear and worry.
The same eyes, like his friend, possibly lover, Marinette. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She was who he tried to save. But from what?
No matter, she was keeping him from fixing his mistake by withholding the miraculous from him.
"I can help you! Please!" Ladybug shouts.
"How do you know that?!" Chat growls, his eyes fuming.
"Well, I-" She stammers, her brain wracking for answers.
Chat Blanc just scoffs before throwing another disc of cataclysmic energy at her. The bluenette, unaware, lost her footing and fell off the wobbly plank and into the cold waters beneath them both.
Gasping for breath as she pulls herself to the surface, she feels her arm being grabbed and hoisted up. Tossed over to the side to reach for some air.
"I don't want to hurt you, M'Lady, but I do need your miraculous." Chat Blanc says with a feigned tone of innocence.
"I don't want to hurt you either, kitty! So please, give me the akuma!" Ladybug responds back.
The white leather dressed cat scoffed, turning his back to her. His hands tightened into fists, his breathing slightly uneven.
"I can't let you do that, M'Lady." Chat Blanc saysoftly, letting his fist unfurl.
Ladybug clenches her yo-yo tightly. Her eyes, narrowed towards Chat Blanc. She quickly brushes away the frozen droplets of water off her face before throwing her yo-yo at him. Chat turns around at the exact moment to be smacked right in the stomach, sending him over the edge and into the cold, frozen water.
His eyes shot wide open as he glances around, seeing the flooded streets of Paris. And so happens, that right under the Eiffel Tower where they stood, there was two frozen statues.
He attaches the staff to his mouth, allowing him to breathe, before swimming across to the statues. As he nears the frozen people, his eyes widened in recognition. And, possibly remembrance?
Everything shot back at him at immense speeds. The reveal. Marinette is Ladybug. HawkMoth is- his father. The takedown. He was trying to protect his Princess and his Lady. Chat reaches his hand out to caress the face of his lover. At the mere touch of it, the statue fades off like dust.
He clenches his teeth before directing a ball of energy at the HawkMoth statue and disintegrating it without a second notice. Without hesitation, he powers his legs to allow him to reach the surface again.
His Lady is dead, meaning whoever this is must be a fake. Here to take his power and his chance to get his lady back.
He pounces out the water and lands on the unsteady ledge, shaking it and causing Ladybug to become startled.
"You're going to die." He mutters quietly, his eyes narrowed down to her. A glint of murder glimmered in his eye.
"Chat, listen to me. Please." Ladybug begs, her handle on the yo-yo slackened.
'You're a fake. I saw it. The real Ladybug is dead." He sneers, readying a ball of cataclysmic energy in his left hand as he slowly trudges towards her.
"What-? No, Chat. I'm from the past-" Ladybug stops midway through her thoughts as a ball of energy flew in her direction.
With a yelp, she dodges the ball of energy and throws her yo-yo at him.
"Liar. Ladybug died along with HawkMoth." Chat Blanc responds, catching the airbound yo-yo and yanking it back, tripping Ladybug.
With a quirk of a smile gracing his lips, he destroyed the magic yo-yo without a second thought.
"What do you mean-?" Ladybug says confusedly, tossing her broken yo-yo to the side.
"I saw it. I remember. The battle. The fight." Chat Blanc rambles on, running a hand through his hair with a soft chuckle. Not a comforting chuckle, more like a crazed chuckle.
"What are you talking about? Come on, kitty, please tell me." She says softly, coming closer to him.
"The fight. HawkMoth, my father. You, Marinette, M'Lady, Ladybug. The icy feeling down my veins. The frozen mindset. On destroying HawkMoth- er- or you? I don't know anymore." Chat Blanc strains a laugh.
"Hey, I'm here to help." Ladybug says calmly, placing a hand on his chest, right over his heart.
Chat tenses slightly at the touch, his eyes rose from her hand to Ladybug's bluebell eyes. His heart softened as he stared back at her. Any trace of pain, regret, guilt, and hurt was gone. She was there! Right in front of him, but- she wasn't actually there.
It had to be an illusion. A fake. She cannot be back. She was dead. He saw it. He was there.
Slowly, he took his gloved hand and raised it to be placed over her hand. Even through the layers, he could feel a slight pulse from his heart.
"Just give me your akuma, kitty. And it'll be over." She whispers, her eyes lowering to his lips before back to his eyes.
His heart softened. He could be saved. Everything could be fixed.
"Where's your akuma?" She murmurs softly, standing on her tiptoes, her free hand flipped through his hair and petted his ears.
Chat Blanc leans his head down, resting on Ladybug's shoulder. Cold tears fall down his face, rubbing onto the female heroine suit.
"I'm so tired of everything." Chat Blanc whispers quietly.
"I know Chat, it's okay. Everything will be okay." She responds softly, analyzing him for the akuma.
Her hand gently slips into his pocket and she pulls out a small, crumpled up piece of paper. With a frown, she fumbles it open to a visible sense.
It was a picture of her. Well, supposedly past her. Past her, Alya, Nino, and- Adrien? A sniffle from the cat hero, jolts her back into reality. Chat Blanc shifts up and sees her turn around with the picture of his friends and a surge of anger ran through his blood once more.
"I'm so stupid. How could I ever have trusted you." He snarls, his gloved hands eject claws out and he slowly walks to her.
"No, no wait! Chat! It's me, Marinette. It's okay!" She fumbles with her words, trying to buy her some time.
"Your time is up." He growls, slamming his hand down on the support beam below them, destroying it.
Ladybug tries to jump away, but fails due to Chat catching her by the ankle and throwing her against the beam above them. Stars flew across her line of vision as she shakily tries to get up again, but before she could even get to her knees, Chat Blanc grabs her by the neck, pulling her up and holding her over the cold waters below.
"Chat! Wait, no!" Ladybug struggles, clawing his hand at an attempt to get free.
"You're were playing me, this whole time. And to think I would ever trust you." He growls, his eyes glimmered.
Ladybug gasps for small breaths of air as his hand tightens even more around her throat. Her eyes roll to the back of her head. Her thoughts and strength were going blank, numb, dead.
"I love you." She whispers finally, before going limp.
A soft gasp escapes Chat as his hand slips and he drops her into the waters underneath, the paper falling down with it.
"No! Goddamn it!" He yells, tears spilling from his eyes as he crumbles to the ground.
He had messed up again. It was all his fault. Months of waiting for a chance and he blew it.
The akuma, lost. Ladybug, lost. His chance of going home, lost.
He slumps against the beam of the Eiffel Tower, allowing him a second of breath before curling up into a ball. Tears still falling.
Other than his thoughts, he is left all alone, but even then, the thoughts will disappear again and he'll wander the rooftops of the broken world he lives in. Only to be forever accompanied by the cold breeze, icy cold waters, and the frozen statue of the limp Ladybug in the depths of the water.
Until he forgets, the only thing that can and will repeat is that it was his fault.
His fault and only his.
