A Parent's Worst Nightmare

Summary:

Hanagaki Takemichi was known to be a reckless young boy who never thinks twice before jumping head first into a fight she would barely win, nor survive. Friendships built and peoples saved, Takemichi was sure she's walking on the right path.

Nevertheless, who would have thought that one couldn't possibly take death for granted? and the price of her friend's survival was indebted to her.

Now, resting between life and death, Toman was up for a frenzy journey between figuring out who the hell really is Hanagaki Takemichi—with an additional figure of a man the young girl once looked up to.

Notes:

Edited : I'll try my best to look back and revise the chapters (besides chap 7 and 4) because I have no beta, nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed your reading time.

Chapter 1: Where Her Story Begins

Chapter Text

Tonight was supposed to be the clash between Toman and Tenjiku, where two powerful sides fight, lead by no other than the Sano brothers. It sounded like some blockbuster movie if anyone would ask Takemichi, two siblings fighting for whoever worthy enough to sit on the throne. Just hours before the fight begings, Takemichi alongside with Emma and Mikey decided to pay some respect towards the oldest member of the Sano family.

There was no sound, no birds singing in the early winter season, just comfortable silence. Takemichi often wonders, what would Shinichiro do if he were still alive? Would he still lead the Black Dragons? Would Kazutora never left the team? Will their future be okay? Just imagining where there could be a future with no more blood, no more pain, and sorrow nearly brings tears to fall down the blonde's cheek. Takemichi might not know much about Sano Sinichiro, but the unconditional love that Mikey and Emma gave towards their fallen brother gives Takemichi a strike of adrenaline. No matter what, she will not rest until she made sure that everyone she loves deserves their own happiness in the future.

Takemichi doesn't believe that God would just give her the power to travel back through time if there's no cause to it. Being able to see your childhood crush, friends, and family was a huge slap to Takemichi. Just how low has the woman sink on the future? She's no one. She works at a DVD retail, which at some point will stop due to the short amount of DVD users in the future, and if the store closes, then there's a big chance that Takemichi will end up homeless. Her small living space wasn't even ideal to begin with. Cramped space, loud and short-tempered neighbor who, mind you, would just yell straight at her face for only watching TV in her own room.

And let's not ignore the fact that even at the age of 26 years old, Takemichi was still nothing but a sore loser. Apologizing at anything, even at most times it's not even her fault. Where was her pride when those little boys beat the shit out of her in the alleyway? She probably lost it in the past. Once upon a time, 18 years old Hanagaki Takemichi left Tokyo. She ignored her friends, family, and even Hina's call. She doesn't want to become a burden, especially towards her family. She doesn't know much about her father, only remembering some flash of little puzzle pieces about the mysterious man. But her mother- her mama always understood her. She would scold her for going home with bruise on her legs, hands, and even face.

"You are too reckless, the exact same copy of your father- oh and you both cried a lot too."

Unlike many kids, Takemichi doesn't mind growing up living alone with her Mother. Her friends and even teacher would sometimes come up to her and ask whether or not her father's a foreign, in which the little girl couldn't answer because she herself has never had a clear vision of the said man. Her light blue eyes caught many peoples attention, especially when little Takemichi was fluent in the english language- making the english teachers go head over heels for the young girl.

"Takemichi, there's this English debate competition. You would wanted to join, yes?" Asked one of his 5th graders teacher.

Maybe, Takemichi thought, that because of the attention most teacher gave were towards Takemichi, her friends have seem to distant themselves against her. It sucks, if anyone were to ask her. Where once the little girl was greeted with warm hugs and waves soon turns out to be deathly glares given by all of her classmate. Takemichi didn't know what happened towards her classmate.

Did I do something wrong??

One day, just when little Takemichi was walking towards her house, she was cornered by 6 to 9 students give or take. She couldn't remember well since they were all yelling and aiming their fist towards the little girl at the same time, but she did manage to hear someone say;

"-don't think that you're much better than us just because of your father's background! Your mother doesn't even got a husband!!"

Takemichi didn't understand what happened, but she snapped. She yelled and punched anyone that's close to her sight, grip on some of the girls hair, land several kicks towards the one's holding her side- all that while bailing her tears out. Finally, after what felt like hours of neverending fight, they left her all alone to weep at the swing. She didn't move, didn't even want to go home.

The sun was slowly setting, and Miss Hanagaki promised her little girl to cook and eat dinner together tonight- so imagine the shock when she opened the door to found out that her daughter was absent. Her shoes and school uniform was nowhere to be seen, as a mother, there would be thousands of possibilities that would occur to her baby. She could be kidnapped, she could be sick in the middle of the road and fainted, she- she could even-

No. You have to get a hold of yourself, Hanagaki.

After making sure that she have calmed down, Miss Hanagaki made a short call towards her daughter's teacher, learning that all of the kids has went home.

Where could my baby possibly went??

Cold sweats seem to make themselves known as it soak through her expensive business suit, it would be possible if she was kidnapped. But then, that means that she has to make the emergency call. No no, she doesn't want to bother him if little matter like this could be handled easly by her. Her social title could just be the single wife, but no one needs to know about anything the Hanagaki household kept.

And they promised to keep the last running bloodline safe.

Screw them, fuck them, honestly. So much for having the so called power of the God's eyes that even they can't seem to notify her about anything that happened towards her baby. Quickly dashing towards the only locked closet in her room, the woman finally opens it in what she felt must has been decades. Weapons from handguns to swords were lay untouched inside, flashdisk containing secret that would cost peoples lives, custom contact lenses, and many more.

You're thinking too much, Hanagaki. There's no more threat to him, he promised it himself.

Just when the woman's about to take her long lost best friend, there can be heard the sound of the front door opening and-

"Mama, I'm home."

Takemichi

Quickly putting back the gun and locking the closet with trembling hand, she put the keys on the side of her vanity mirror and jogged to see her baby. Taking a deep breath before giving her baby the smile she usually gives, but soon the woman stopped her track, eyeing her girl up to down.

She was awkwardly standing in the middle of the living room, tiny toes playing with one another as her face stares down at the floor.

"Mama.."

"B..baby! What happened?? Oh god, you're hurt!"

Ushering the girl to take a seat at the sofa and take off her clothes except for the underwear. What could possibly happen to her little baby? She never once did show any affection towards violence, then why- why?? The realization hits her hard, bitting the inside of her cheek until she can taste what feels like iron like and grips on her knuckle until it turned white. She needs to make sure first, oh her poor little baby girl.

"Ne Michi-chan, did you pick any fight with the kids at school-"

"No I-I didn't mama! They were the one's w-who picked on me first! I don't l-like it when they talk about you not h-having a husband.." wailed her little rays of sunshine.

Oh.

Oh. Those peoples are so going to pay for what they done to little Michi.

Exhaling a soft sigh, Miss Hanagaki told her daughter to take a shower while she cooks them her favorite dish- which is beef curry. From the mention of one food only could stop her tears from falling down, he nods and quickly scrambled towards the bathroom to clean herself. While preparing their dinner, the mother fumbles on a black flip phone, thinking whether or not should she make a call. Little Michi has never come home bruised and crying, this was the first time, so she guessed that it would be wise to inform him about it.

Looking at the only contact on the phone which is labelled as "emergency calls only" , the mother decided to give it a call.

It rang for a few while before getting picked from the other side, taking a deep breath, Miss Hanagaki finally had the courage to speak.

"Good evening, Hanagaki speaking."

There was a decent pause before scrambling could be heard from the other side before an ecstatic deep voice answered back. Oh how she misses that stupid voice.

"...Hanagaki?"

After their dinner, the mother stayed at Takemichi's bed for awhile, telling all sort of stories that her daughter wanted to hear.

"Mama...can you..tell me more about my daddy?"

She knew that no matter how much did she wanted to ignore it, one way or another, her little baby would be asking about this question. So she brace herself and recalled the story of how two people met, outside of a bar near the beach, and far far away from Tokyo. She recalled how his eyes remind her of Takemichi, so blue and so full of live. The determination of wanting to save everyone they met, she could never.

She told him that his father was one of a kind, the type of deliquent that has the heart of gold.

"Mama what's a de..d-deliquent?"

She laughed at her innocent pout and resume the story. She told her baby of the time that her father saved many people, how? by punching the lights out of the bad guy. She could see the sparkle in her eyes, she could even see him in her eyes. Even if the father's far away, she doesn't want her baby to grow up hating on the old man who has shed sweat and blood trying to save the people that he loves. Instead, that night the mother said;

"Forget the bad things that your father did in the past, and remembered all of the sacrifice he has done to get you here."

It was a success according to the mother, both of them slept soundly with smiles on the little girl's face.

I'm gonna be a deliquent, she mumbled in between her dreams.

"Okay baby... mommy's gonna go on a quick business trip, okay? I want you to keep this phone save and call me whenever you're free okay? You can add your friends number if you want- oh no no no, don't cry baby." Was the last time the mother and daughter speak face to face. How long has it been? Months probably, but still.

Living alone when you just enrolled in the first year of middle school hits different, but Takemichi trust her mom to always stick to her promise. When she arrived in London, it was already midnight, but she called her baby nonetheless.

Now, Takemichi thinks that she's not as free as she said she'll be back then. So what's the point of calling her, she doesn't want to bother her anyway. Besides, she just currently befriend Yamagishi- that nerd- awhile ago and things have gotten great honestly. She just wished that her school life would be as cool as the one's she saw on Takuya's manga.

Back to the present, Takemichi has been thinking hard, way too hard for a canned coffee flavor. She can't decided between latte or the other ones, Akkun told her once that she shouldn't be fooled by the looks of one's product, because sadly even if they looked interesting, they could taste like shit. So she decided to let Emma picked her and Mikey's first, maybe by this she can sneak up and see the flavors that both siblings like to buy.

While waiting for Emma on the other side of the rode, Takemichi's mind wonders off a bit. Thinking again, what could possibly happen in the past that keeps on giving a bad ending towards their future- by God these are only childrens! What did Naoto say that time? If everything that happened to the future was caused by Mikey, then what could possibly trigger him?

.....-and the death of one of the last Sano..

"..ehh?? Wait, Naoto- do you mean that Shiniciro-kun wasn't the only Sano-"

Her mind was cut short by the sound of a speeding bike heading towards them- no, not them..a quick flash to the drivers eyes and she can see that they were heading towards Emma. No, she wouldn't let anyone's future go to waste. Her feet quickly moved on it's own, hands swiftly shielding the girl's head from any possible injuries as a loud BANG and CRACK was heard from behind Takemichi's skull. In mere seconds, both of them went down, limp. The driver stopped, giving their attacker a chance to look back and curse. They wanted to head back and finish the job, but Emma's loud scream made their presence more fragile- so they decided to run.

Takemichi's limp body was laying on her back on the cold snowy road, eyes looking up at Emma's face..her face was covered in blood, was she hurt? She was screaming and crying, but Takemichi couldn't make out the situation until two warm hand reached out to her and carried her on his back. Was this Mikey?

"Emma-chan, can you call the ambulance for us?"

"I-I already did! They're on the way right now,"

A nod "okay, good. Ne, Takemitchy, hold on for a sec okay?"

Takemichi wanted to smile at the domestic love she's seeing right now, but her ears were screaming at her, her head hurts so so much that she can feel the winter coldness againt her open skull. It's getting colder, huh?

"Takemitchy, say something ne?"

"C..cold,"

The girl wanted to say more, to tell them about the story of a lover who fell in love by the beach. To tell them the truth about herself, and why has she been hiding her real identity. She didn't know how long has the trio been walking, but she's loosing too much blood.

My head...what would mama say? Ah, lightheaded, I think I'm feeling it now.

It hurts..

It hurts alot..

"..ne Mikey-kun, why can't I feel my body?" She asked, not noticing the increasing pitch on her usual voice.

The older boy stoped dead in his track, seeming to be shock by the statement. He shook his head and continue to walk, Emma on the other hand doesn't seem much better, muttering 'it's all my fault, it's all my fault'.

Silly Emma-chan, it never is your fault... you're..just a..child.

"Oi Takemitchy, you better not sleep now yeah? If you do, then who would massage my back after every fight?"

By this, the girl let out a light giggle that sounds too much of a sob than what it is.

"Emma-Chan would gladly take over my place, right?" She count this as a wrong move, because Emma suddenly cried more, gripping on the back of Takemichi's jacket and shook her head.

"..nah..she would punch me, she doesn't feel as good as you do..Takemichi,"

The girl smiled on his shoulder, and for a brief second Mikey felt a bit relieved. Takemichi shifts a bit so she could give her commander a peck on the cheek. It was her first time kissing someone else's cheek beside Hina, and it brings warm blood to cover her already bleeding face. She was proud to give Mikey her true feelings. The other boy on the other hand was shocked for the second time, gripping on Takemichi's legs with trembling arms and watery eyes.

"Emma.."

"Y-yes!"

"Take..care of your brother for me, okay?"

A gasp erupts from the girls mouth as she saw first hand how the life in Takemichi's eyes flew by, the hands that were holding on Mikey tightly fell down limping on her sides. For the third time of the day, she screamed in horror. No matter what, her brother just continued on walking towards the closest hospital, now cheeks covered with salty tears.

"Emma..why is his body cold??..ne Takemitchy, it's rude to ignore your commander you know."

"M-Mikey..he.. he's-"

"He's not. He's too dumb to die, now come on, we're almost there.

And so the Sano siblings rushed faster towards the nearest hospital, fuck the ambulance, they never arrived in time.
