Chapter Text
I walk down the empty halls going towards the kitchen to get some more of that disgusting green goop. Sadly we have nothing else, and quite frankly I’m hungry. My footsteps echo through the halls as I walk down, everyone else asleep as I go for a midnight snack. I had woken up previously from a nightmare. It happens frequently, by now it's a routine. Go to sleep, wake up from a nightmare, then entertain myself until the others wake up. By now the bags under my eyes could probably hold one of those yappy purse dogs, I try to cover them up though because I don’t want to bother the others, luckily I managed to find some concealer at the space mall. I’m almost out though so I hope we go back soon.
I enter the kitchen and turn on the light, grabbing a plate to put the goop on. I don’t bother sitting down and just lean on the wall next to where we put our plates. After I finish stomaching the goop I put my plate away and go to the training room. It’s where I usually end up going. I need to train anyway, Allura’s still mad that I’m a galra so hopefully if I’m more useful I’ll get her to not hate me. I’m pretty sure the others are too but they don’t show it.
I get to the training room and shut the door tight so the others don’t wake up. I start the simulation and begin the training.
^^^TIMESKIP BECAUSE I CAN^^^
Okay good I’m a little better, but I still need to be able to handle more by myself. So far I’ve gotten to 18 .(I don't know, You guys make up a number) I have to quit now though because the others wake up soon.
I reset the simulation and began my walk back to my room. As usual the halls are still empty, Allura and Coran should be waking up in about thirty minutes to wake the others. I believe after today we have about two weeks of ‘vacation time’ as in we still go to the needed missions but only if someone else can’t handle it, and we still have training for an hour a day. Other than that we’re free. Lance tends to use his off days to bother me, I think he still hates me also.

I finally reached my room and entered my password. My room was kinda dull. I don’t have anything hanging up, the only thing I really have is a small bag in the corner with some personal things I have. I leave it packed so I can just grab and go when I need to. The only other personals I have I guess are my clothes I came here with and my knife I always keep on my hip. I sit down on my bed and lay down awaiting the eventual call from the speakers.
A while later I hear Alluras voice boom through the speakers, “ ALRIGHT PALADINS TIME TO WAKE UP AND START YOUR DAYS !”
I get out of bed and make my way to the lounge where Allura and Coran will give us the schedule for today. When I got there Allura, Coran, and Shiro had already arrived and were talking. I quietly go in and sit down on one of the cushions away from them. Soon after I arrive Hunk and Pidge walk in, Hunk still a little sleepy and Pidge grumbling like the gremlin she is. Lastly Lance arrives, he somehow looks both tired and awake at the same time. Hunk and pidge sit across from me and Lance sits directly by me, poking my face and saying, “How was your sleep, Mullet?”
“Fine, “I responded, “How was yours.”
“Perfect, I had a dream where your ugly mullet was chopped off, “he smirks.
I let out a huff and turned my attention to Allura and Coran, Shiro had sat down by Hunk.
“Alright paladins, since you guys have two weeks off starting tomorrow we decided to get a few missions in today!” she smiles.
Lance lets out a groan slumping as she continues.
“You four are going to go on a mission to an old galra base that we discover, “she says, putting a blueprint of the base on the screen. It was made up of a complicated map of hallways with only two leading to a large circle room in the middle. You could see that they had several hangar attachments on the sides with various rooms spread throughout,, “As you can see there are still a few ships laying around, we believe it used to be a main base before something happened to it. There seems to be a strong energy in the middle of the building. We need you four to go to it and hopefully get a sample.”
She closes the screen before continuing, “Pidge the map is being sent to you, you are in charge of leading Keith and Lance to the middle. Hunk you will be a backup in case something happens to Keith and Lance, you are in charge of getting them out. Shiro is staying here with me and Coran to fix a few things on the ship and to do some more research on some remaining galra bases and Coran will monitor you four. Now get to your lions.”
We all stand up and begin walking to our lions. I get to Reds hangar and she leans her head down, welcoming me.
“Hey Red, miss me?” I say laying my hand on her hearing a rumble come from her.
I smile as she opens her jaw for me to get in. Sitting in the seat I put my helmet on before taking off out of the hangar.
“Alright, the place Allura was talking is only two doboshs away, “I hear Pidge's voice through my helmet.
We continued the short flight with the others talking and me staying silent.
“Where here, “Pidge says as we approach the abandoned base.
We fly near one of the hangars and me and Lance eject and float towards it.
“You guys are going to have to go through there and go through a door that's on the far wall.”
“Hey mullet wanna race?” Lance says.
“You’re on, “I smirk, turning up the pack on my suit.
He does the same a second later and I hear him yelling at me for cheating. I continue to the door using the ships as leverage to gain some extra speed. I do one last leap and shoot through the door, stopping just in time to not hit the wall.
Lance comes in a second later and yells, “Not fair you cheated!”
“Guys, stop it! Your next move is to go left, then go right at the first hallway you see.”
He looks at me and sticks his tongue out before going right, I roll my eyes and follow behind him.
“You guys are going to have to use your packs the whole way because the gravity is off.”
“Got it, “I responded.
We continue through the hallways, making sure to listen closely to Pidge. We had two turns left before we got to the middle. After we took another turn my head started to throb. I try my best to ignore it but as we got closer to the last turn it continued to get worse.
“Keith, are you okay? You stopped, “I hear Pidge say.
I look up, removing my hands from my head, not even realizing I had done it in the first place. I see Lance looking at me through the helmet with what seemed to be a concerned face. No, I have to be imagining things, I think the headache gave me hallucinations.
“I’m fine, it’s nothing, “I say, clenching my jaw and continuing forward.
I feel a hand on my shoulder and see Lance staring at me, as if he’s trying to read my mind.
“Keith, are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine, Lance, "I push his hand off and continue down the hall.
Once I turned the final corner a wave of pain went through my body, I let out a slight gasp from the shock. It felt as though I was getting burned all over.
“Shit!” I shout curling my body in and clutching my head.
I hear muffled voices ring in my head, but I don’t bother to try and comprehend them. I feel something pull me away and squint my eyes slightly to see me being pulled out of the room.
As we got farther away I could feel my consciousness slowly start to slip. I hear Lance shout something before black covers my vision.
I wake up and feel myself falling before being caught in someone's arms and hitting a firm chest. I don’t open my eyes, too tired to even try and relax into the arms of the person who had caught me. I could hear voices around me, but I was too tired to comprehend them. The voices get softer and I lay there for a bit before finally starting to open my eyes. The first thing I see is Coran, Hunk, Shiro, and Pidge standing around me and whispering among themselves. I then look over to the person I had been laying on and see and almost equally as tired Lance.
I feel my eyes droop and I lay my head back on his shoulder falling asleep.
I wake up a second time and feel a lot more awake than I was the first time. I look and see the others talking still amongst themselves, Shiro seems to have a slight crease in his brow from his worried expression. I look and see that Lance is still sleeping and decide not to move, a small blush rising to my face. After a few more minutes he wakes up and shifts slightly. I keep still for a few more moments until I feel him grab my shoulder and gently shake me.
“Keith, time to wake up.”
I open my eyes and sit up hearing a small grunt come from Lance. I look at him questioningly and see that I am crushing his crotch.
“Shit sorry, “I say, getting up.
“Finally you two are awake, “I hear Shiro say from behind me.
“What happened?” I say rubbing my head where a small throbbing was still present.
Lance stands up and says, “You started freaking out when we got to the center room. Luckily I’m awesome and managed to get a sample before getting you out.”
I roll my eyes and start to walk out of the room saying, “I’m going to get something to eat.”
“Keith, wait, ”I feel a hand on my shoulder and I turn to see Shiro, “What exactly happened on the way to the room.’
I look at the others knowing they want answers, “I don’t know. The closer we got the more my head hurt.”
“I’ll do some more research and see, “I hear Coran say.
“Me too, “Pidge says, stepping forward.
I nod my head and start to head to the kitchen. I grab a plate of goop and start to eat. I feel a tingly sensation on my arm and I look down to see something purple poking out from my glove. I finish my food before peeling back my glove. I immediately drop the plate in my hand, making it shatter as it hits the floor.
Fur. I have purple skin spreading on my hand with patches of fur.
I hear footsteps and put my glove on hurriedly. Hunk enters the room and gasps.
“What happened?”
I compose myself and say, “Sorry, my hand slipped.”
He gives me a warm smile before saying, “It’s fine I’ve already broken a few myself.”
He helps me clean it up and I say thanks before going to my room. I run as soon as I’m out of range and rush to my room. As soon as I get in I close and lock the door, going to the mirror to see if I had any other purple patches.
I take off my shirt and see small patches that were slowly growing and sprouting soft purple fur. I then looked at my face and saw that my eyes had started getting a yellow tint looking like my moms. I could see my hair grow slightly thickening a little before the roots started to turn a darker lavender shade.
Then it was like going from zero to a hundred in a span of a second. All of a sudden everything started to change faster. My skin turning purple and covered in soft purple fur, my hair turning full purple, and my ears growing stretching a little further up my head before pointing out, the bottom covered in longer fur, trailing off at the top.
I feel a tingle at the button of my spine. I looked and saw that a tail had sprouted. It was long with the end having longer fur the same color as my hair.
I feel my chest start to rise as fall at a fast pace, seeming like I had run a marathon. I fall back and scoot to the wall clutching my hair and trying to calm down with the tricks I had learned on Earth.
Once I have calmed down I go back to my door and make sure it’s all locked. I pace the room thinking of things to try to fix this, my tail swaying behind me. Okay I have two weeks to figure out a way to reverse this. I can’t leave my room because someone might see me, and the castle has cameras. I’ll just have to pretend I’m sick or something. Shiro can probably drop off food, and I’ll just have him slide it through a compartment, saying that I don’t want to spread it to him.
If I can’t figure out a reverse… I’ll have to leave.
