Work Text:

"Gura!" A child just a bit taller approached her holding a hand out towards Gura. There was a large genuine smile plastered onto their face but other than their grin was nothing but a blur.
" ɐ̵̞̈́ɯ̴̠͑ǝ̸͈̈́l̴ı̶̜̇∀! " Gura calls out in delight, gently taking the hand and following behind the energetic child in front of her. "Come on!" Said the child. "We need to check up on that field!" The simple mention of the word 'field' sparked an even larger bomb of excitement in both of them. A few minutes of running and giggling, they finally arrived at the field.

It was a field, a field of sunflowers that bent slightly to the cool breeze that would hit them ever so gently. Gura's eyes widen in awe, no matter how many times she had seen this view she would never get tired of it. No matter what. She looks to the side towards the child who had been by her side since that faithful day. "Hey Gura?" Says the child, breaking her focus on the sunflowers and placing it onto Gura's eyes. "Promise me something?" They smiled, but even if their face was blurry and unrecognizable, Gura felt that it was a sad smile. "Never forget this view, I don't care if you forget me cause I know I'll bonk you on the head and make you remember who I am!- But, never, ever forget this view." They said the part seriously.

Gura could only stare in confusion, ɐ̵̞̈́ɯ̴̠͑ǝ̸͈̈́l̴ı̶̜̇∀ had never been this serious before and it made her wonder, was something wrong? But nonetheless she trusted them and so, Gura nodded, choosing to let the child tell her if there was anything wrong.

An hour passed by, the two sat on the cliffside and watched as the sun started to set, beautiful shades of yellow and orange appear in the sky. This was a view they absolutely loved. Suddenly, the child got off of the grass and stood determinedly, staring at the sun they began to talk. "Gura..." They started off softly, but the they took a deep breath. "I have something to say." They then turned their head towards Gura, staring once again into Gura's eyes and holding a hand out for Gura to help her stand up. "What's up ɐ̵̞̈́ɯ̴̠͑ǝ̸͈̈́l̴ı̶̜̇∀?" Gura asks, confused, and taking the offer to stand up. ɐ̵̞̈́ɯ̴̠͑ǝ̸͈̈́l̴ı̶̜̇∀held her hand gently yet tightly. "I... I'm moving away." ɐ̵̞̈́ɯ̴̠͑ǝ̸͈̈́l̴ı̶̜̇∀ said, the furrowing of their eyebrows signifying they were holding in their tears.

Gura stared, unable to comprehend this news. And then suddenly, tears started to pour out from her eyes. Swiftly and gently, the shorter girl embraces the child close into a tight hug, unable to hold in her sobs. The child hugs back just as tight and trying to be as strong as they could.

"We'll meet again right?" Gura looked up to the child, that blurred out face smiling at her. "Of course, I'll even marry you! So we won't separate ever again!" Said the child. Gura grins bittersweetly and plants a kiss on the child's nose.

"Promise?" Gura asks. The child smiled, letting their tears finally pour down.

"Promise."

Rays of sunlight creeps through from the small crack of the curtains, hitting the girl in the face who slept peacefully in her bed. Groggily, the girl sat up yawning before stretching out their arms upwards while humming in delight. She gently grabbed her phone and checked the time, and after seeing that it was still early she decided to go on ahead and start her morning instead of sleeping more.

Opening the windows in her room, taking a shower, brushing her teeth, putting clothes on, combing her hair, and finally eating breakfast. Her blue eyes looked out of the window to see a garden of flowers, a smile creeping onto her face as she saw them. Finally, she decides that it was time to go outside and breathe in even more fresh air.

"Haaah!" She stretched out her arms once again, letting out a satisfied sigh as the sunshine hit her skin making her feel warm and cozy. Her eyes landed back onto the garden, there were so many with different varieties, there were flowers like roses, daisies, lily's, etc. but not only that, there were vegetables growing as well! Yet, there was a fact that stuck out like a sore thumb, there were more Sunflowers, asters and carnations, than the impressive amount of plants that filled the garden.

She stood in awe, the sunflowers reminding her of Gura. She smiled, enjoying the thought of Gura keeping their promise of not forgetting that beautiful view from all those years ago. Suddenly, she hears the subtle noise of a door opening and closing and so she looks towards the direction of where the sound originated from and to her utter shock, there stood a beautiful woman who looked exactly like her beloved childhood friend, Gawr Gura. And so immediately, she runs towards the fences and started a conversation.

"Hey there neighbor!" She greeted, grinning just as bright as the sun. Gura turns her head and looks right at the stranger in subtle shock and confusion. "...Me?" Gura asks. "Yes you Mother Nature 2.0" She snickers, and to her surprise, Gura giggled at the joke. "Mother Nature 2.0? That's a new one." Gura laughs, filling her ears with an unforgettable tune. "Then give me your name if you don't wanna get called that ya dum." She said forgetting the existence of a filter. "It's Gawr Gura, but call me Gura miss..." Gura trails off, eyeing the girl who hang by the fence. The girl could only smile as the name was enough confirmation that she indeed was her long lost love. "Amelia, it's Amelia Watson." Amelia smiles.

"Amelia...?" Gura suddenly looks to be lost in thought as the name 'Amelia' shook a forgotten memory in her head. "So, Gooruh, mind telling me bout' your huge ass garden?" Amelia smiles, leaning more onto the fence as she watches Gura's lips move as she spoke. "Ah! Well, my garden huh?" Gura looked over at her countless plants and flowers and smiled. "Thing is, I just... Grew to love plants and flowers, I had this friend back then who always showed me to this really huge field of sunflowers and we'd hang by there together. Sadly, they had to move away and the memory of us going to that field is the only thing I have of them." Amelia looks at her in interest, even with the pass of time, how could Gura forget about her rather than the fields?

"Oh! And- I... I only forgot who that kid was cause..." Gura looked at Amelia, bitterness in her eyes as she held up a bittersweet smile. "I got into a car accident that killed my parents. I lost my memory when I hit my head on my phone when we crashed hah." Amelia was stunned, the unexpected turn of events hitting her right in the gut. "Fortunately though..." Gura then walked towards one of her sunflowers and gently caressed it's yellow petals. "My grandma raised me, she had a garden too and taught me the basics all the way to the last bit of things she knew. There was so many things I learnt from her and that kid from back then." And then, ever so gently, Gura plucked a red gumamela and walked to Amelia, tucking the thornless flower behind her ear. "Flowers are like humans, they are all unique, they are beautiful and colorful. They have so much meaning and potential. And to me, flowers are like that child who helped me back then. Because now, flowers are the ones that helped me even until now." Gura smiles at Amelia sweetly who was turning a bit red at the sudden closeness. "Sorry if that didn't make sense, but I'm sure you can kind of understand what I was trying to say." Gura holds up a hand towards her lips and giggled.

Amelia could only nod, bringing a hand up towards the flower behind her ear as she watched Gura walk towards her garden. "Well then... H-how about you tell me more about flowers? Like uh..." Gura peeks over her shoulders and looks at Amelia in interest. "What does... Carnations symbolize?" Gura smiles at this. "Come over the fence and I'll tell you more about them." Amelia nods and does as she was told. She climbed over the fence and walked towards Gura, careful to not accidentally step on one of her plants.

"Carnations, oh! So actually, about that, I met this wonderful girl back then in a subway and we somehow broke our introvertness just a tiny bit and started to talk to each other. I told her that I really like blue carnations flowers cause they're really pretty with those wavy petals and stuff! She really liked flowers, she was so cute going on and on about flowers and you bet I was just as passionate!." Gura giggles as she began flowering her plants and the sorts. Amelia sat at the stair of Gura's back porch and listened to Gura with a big grin on her face.

"You like her?" Amelia asks, ignoring the bitter feeling in her chest. "Huh? No! That was the first and, til' now, the last I've ever seen of her. I don't fall at first sight ya dum." Gura pouts and Amelia giggled, both at Gura and in relief. "Oh! Speaking about that girl, I kind of told her about my past, the... Blurry memories I have and this reoccurring dream I have of that childhood friend." Gura looked up to the sky, staring longingly, somewhere. "And you know, we actually made a promise that we'd meet again, and even with my memory going brrrr I'm still hoping, and doing my best, to find them and..." Gura looks down, blushing. "M-marry them... I-" She looked at Amelia, determination in her eyes and red cheeks. "I don't care how long they'll arrive, I'll wait for them!" Gura then saw Amelia's smug face and her face bursted into a dark shade of red in embarrassment. "G-God- I don't know why I;m being like this with you, we literally just met earlier and- and- I'm acting as if you've been my friend for like.. what? The same amount of years since I started gardening??".

"Nothing wrong with that no?" Gura nods at Amelia's reply. "Well.. Yeah... B-but anyways, back to the girl." Amelia nods and sits more comfortably and watched Gura. "From the stuff I told her, she said that I fit aster flowers, cause it meant something like.. 'love, faith, wisdom and colors' or sumn?" Gura tilted as she tried to remember if there was anything she had missed. "W-well yeah something like that" Gura nodded to herself. "And when I asked her about it she said, "love and faith for one person who she waited for 14 years and wisdom she holds for living on." I don't know why, but it just stuck with me. Maybe a part of me agreed with her and it held onto that... compliment??? I have no idea." Amelia giggles at this. "I see, I like listening to you talk, it's... calming?" Amelia shrugs at Gura when Gura looked at her confusedly.

A comfortable silence falls between them as Gura continued her morning routine with her garden, but then she turned her head back to Amelia and her cheeks turned red. There was Amelia, sitting peacefully, the gentle rays of sunlight hitting her pale skin, her freckles showing themselves, her soft creamy blonde hair resting on her shoulders and bangs hanging down. She rested her chin atop her hand, and then there was her eyes, half lidded sky blue eyes with a fun sprinkle of pink, staring right into her different shade of blue ones. How..? Just how can someone look so... All compliments stuck into one???

But there was something about Amelia that made Amelia so... Familiar.

Gura stared and stared, until finally, she mutters out a nickname. "Sunshine?" Amelia's eyes widened just as wide as Gura's as they stared at each other in disbelief. Amelia gets out o the surprise and chuckles, standing up and walking towards Gura, raising her hand, she gently bonked Gura on her head. "Bonk" Amelia whispers, her voice albeit small and quiet was filled with love that pulled Gura's heart strings all over the place. The bonk though, got through her head and it hit her right at her broken memory, fixing it like an old antique tv.

"Wait.. Ame?" Another nickname that punched Amelia's heart. "Hi Sharkie" Amelia greeted, opening her arms for Gura who quickly hugs back.

No more words were exchanged between them until they decided to let go of each other and continue on their day, together. Finally, two lost loves were back together.

"Hey Ame?" Gura calls out to the girl in front of her. There were bandages and band-aids all over her face, as well as a chipped tooth, this girl Gura met after saving her from bullies back in school. "What's up Sharkie?" Amelia grinned, Gura blushed a bit at the comment and from the grin that Amelia would always give her. "Why do we like sunflowers so much?" Gura asks, looking back at the field of sunflowers. "I honestly don't know... They don't really look all that cool to me right now and... I only ever really come here cause of you." Gura pouts. "Well then... Maybe it's cause Sunflowers remind me of Sunshine and Sunshine reminds me of you?" Amelia blushed at that. "Y-You just answered your own question dumbo!" Amelia sways the talk to avoid blushing even more.

"Hey! Don't insult me just cause of that!"

"Well I can do whatever I want!" The two glared at each other for a moment or two before bursting out in laughter and letting themselves fall onto the soft grassy ground under them, looking upwards the sky, they hold out their hands before holding each other and giggling.

"I love you gooruh"

"Save that for when we marry each other Ame"

"Haihai"

"But I love you too, sunshine."

"Here you are telling me I'm the one getting soft on you but then you're over here telling me you love me too!" Amelia grins.

"W-whatever"
