Chapter Text
You run through the woods, your hair dashing behind you. Something is following you, something ravenous. You can hear its jaw click and unhinge, right beside your ear. Your palms are sweating. There are trees everywhere, roots moving around, looking to trip you up.
“Be careful,” it hisses.
Your nerves leave your system. You look around. No one is there.
A shape appears in front of you. Your goosebumps come back immediately. It seems humanoid, yet slightly... off. They seem somewhat recognisable.
“I’m Harry Styles.”

Your alarm goes off, waking you with a jolt. You lie there, for a minute, digesting your dream. Your mum calls you from downstairs. It’s 8am.
You tie your hair into a messy bun and throw on a random T-shirt and jeans. You head downstairs, to find your mum in the kitchen.
“I have something to tell you, y/n.” she says.
“What is it?” you feel apathetic.
“I’ve… sold you.”
“WHAT?”
“I needed the money for the bills. We’re behind. Your new owners should be arriving soon.”
“Who are they?!”
“You’ll see. Pack your bags.”
You head back to your room, confused yet not as emotional as you thought you’d be. You pack all your things in a big suitcase. To be honest, you don’t have much; you haven’t really done much since high school ended for you. You hear a knock on the door from downstairs and your mum greeting people. You come downstairs.
“Here are your new owners, y/n!” your mum says. Standing at the door, is Harry Styles, along with Niall, Liam, Zayne and Louis. You remember your dream, and feel weird. You shake off the feeling.
“Okay bye mum.” You say.
“Bye, y/n.”
You hug, and leave.
You get into the 1D limo.
“So y/n, what’d you do to your hair to make it so perfect?” Harry asks.
“Oh, it’s just a messy bun. I pretty much woke up like this.” You say.
“I don’t believe that at all, darling.”
“So where are we going?”
“The 1D mansion, of course.” Louis says.
“There’s a 1D mansion??”
“Yeah. It’s pretty cool. It’s even got a ballroom and everything.” Liam pipes in.
“That’s pretty cool.” You mutter. Harry is looking at you. You can’t help but blush. He is incredibly handsome. This feels like a dream…
You reach the mansion. It’s everything you imagined and more.
“Yeah it’s like really old and stuff when they used to make like massive like, mansion shit you know.” Niall says, as you look up at it. Its walls are made from a white brick, and the building itself is perfectly symmetrical. It holds a fountain in the entrance in front, holding many coins on its bottom.
“Did the fountain always have this many coins?” You ask humorously.
“No. It was empty when we bought it,” Zayne answers, walking inside.
“Oh,” everyone else walks in except Liam, who you grab the arm of. He turns to you. “Do you guys often throw coins into the fountain?”
He shrugs. “No. No one does.” Liam goes inside. You stare inside the fountain. Something catches you off guard in the reflection. It’s Harry.
“Whatcha doin’, darling?”
“Hm? Nothing.” You quickly peep out. You look back at the mansion, which is covered in French doors and windows with luscious curtains hiding the inside. Harry takes your hand and leads you in.
“You better do what we say, we are your owners after all.” He smiles.
“Right, of course.”
A ball of anxiety appears for a second in your stomach. Maybe this is… worse than you thought it would be.
Harry leads you to the loungeroom, which is an expansive, tall space with white walls, cream curtains and a massively long, grey couch that faces a giant TV. Harry sits you down next to him. You glimpse behind you to see a steward take in your luggage, before Harry turns your head towards them.
“So y/n, tell us something interesting about yourself.” Zayne demands.
“I uhh – I’m pretty unremarkable.” You admit.
“Oh come on, you’ve gotta have something for yourself.” Louis jokes.
You think, for a second. “I have a good intuition about… things.”
“Oh yeah, like what?” Harry leans towards you.
“Like haunted things, or bad people.”
“Are we bad people?” Liam asks.
“Well, you do endorse human trafficking.”
“Answer the question, darling.” Harry is stern.
Yes.
“N – no.”
“We don’t like liars, y/n. You can be honest with us.”
“Uhh -”
Danger. Duck.
You duck, wrapping your arms around your head and crawling into a ball on impulse.
“Wha -”
Five gunshots go off. There is silence. You feel warm liquid splatter onto you. You can guess what it is. There is another three gunshots, hitting right next to you.
“It’s okay.” You hear through the ringing in your ears. This voice seems familiar. “You can look up now.”
You look around. All of One Direction lay dead on the couch. There is a tall, well-dressed man with messy black hair standing in front of you, a gun in his hand still smoking. He seems familiar, like you’ve met before; like you know him, already.
“I thought I was gonna be solely owned by One Direction.” You say.
“Yeah, sorry, this ain’t that kind of movie.” He says.
“This is a fic, dickweed.”
“Well, I love you too.”
