Work Text:
His first love, his soulmate, died in his arms.
"You could stay here with me forever." Jisung says through the tears that well up in her eyes that make it difficult to see her soulmate in her arms, taking her last breaths.
"I will always come back to you my love, I loved you as much as I could in my life, and I will love you in all others."
"But how am I going to find you? You can come as someone from the other side of the world when I'm going to have you again, my love." He couldn't take the pain that flooded his chest anymore.
"You've never been patient, have you? But when I get back, no matter how our hearts will find a way to meet, you'll know when you find me and when that happens we'll be together again, for a long time."
"You promise?"
"I will always be there for you, my love."
One last breath.
And I will always find you.
Finding his soulmate was harder than Jisung could have thought, he traveled through all the years that followed, always looking for the spark that would bind them, but nothing. Was he looking wrong, looking too little?
So he tries harder.
He lives decades and decades waiting for his true love.
"Do you want to join the literature club?" A voice asks with a nudge in his back, "I hear the first book will be one about vampires, personally I don't like it very much, but my friend is making me do it."
Another voice shouts 'hey!' in warning, and the cute orange-haired boy laughs, a hot laugh that brings a smile out of Jisung, "So you want to participate?"
It was him.
He finally found him, if he was right, what he hopes he is, his soulmate, his great love has reincarnated, he didn't expect an orange haired boy but would have to admit he was beautiful and that smile, oh Jisung falls in love easy...
"Hey, can you hear me?" The boy waves his hand in front of Jisung's face, who has gone into a trance in his thoughts.
Jisung shakes her head and gives the boy a smile, "I am, and I would love to join the club..."
"Chenle, my name is Chenle." It completes.
And still with a smile on his face, he holds out his hand to Chenle, "I'm Jisung, nice to meet you." The boy picks her up and stares at him, Jisung burns, is that what they call a reunion?
"You are no stranger to me, it feels like I know you." Chenle says in a confused tone.
"Maybe we didn't know each other from another life." He says in a playful tone, which gets a laugh from Chenle.
"I enjoyed the pickup, and I would love to go have coffee with you." He says with a lift of his eyebrows.
"But we do not know each other." Jisung says confused, he would love to go out and meet his soulmate, but so fast?
"But we can from today," Chenle approaches, which startles Jisung, and whispers close to her ear, "I can't stand recruiting people for the club anymore, I'm here for my friend," He points with his head to the table where there are two boys sitting holding hands, "But he just keeps dating and does nothing." He says as if it hurts, Jisung laughs.
"Okay, let's go." He whispers back to the boy still close to his ear, Chenle walks away with a big smile on her face, the prettiest one, and yells at her friends, "I'm going to a cafe with our new club member, goodbye." He waves and sends a kiss to the two boys, who just laugh, and drags Jisung by the hand away.
The cafe that Chenle takes Jisung is right next to where they were, small, hidden between the big buildings of each department, when they enter few tables are occupied, so Chenle whispers "this place is my secret" with a smile that warms up the Jisung's heart, they have a secret now.
The interior of the cafe is full of flowers and plants, they sit at a table by the window overlooking the small park in the middle of the campus, Jisung catches her gaze on the couples lying on the grass, the friends having a picnic, then Chenle catches his eye by arriving at the table with two hot chocolates.
"If you want to go sit outside, we can go is-"
Jisung cuts off Chenle, "No, this is great." He smiled.
"I didn't know if you liked coffee, so I bought hot chocolate, this one is delicious." He says taking a sip and Jisung follows him taking a sip of the sweet hot chocolate, which has the right temperature and tastes delicious.
He groans in satisfaction, "It's delicious, thank you so much." Chenle laughs.
"So what do you study? You're a freshman, I've never seen you around here." Chenle asks.
His disguise as a human this century was to be a normal university student, Jeno who gave the idea, saying that this is how he met Jaemin and that maybe it would be easier for Jisung to find his soulmate again.
He followed the advice and surprisingly Jeno was right, he should buy him a meal, Jisung makes a mental note. Of course, if he's sure that the cute boy with orange hair and sharp words sitting in front of him is his soulmate, and to be honest Jisung didn't care anymore, if he wasn't Jisung wanted to meet him in the same way, oh my that's what they call love at first sight? No wonder, Chenle was charming and Jisung was bewitched.
"I'm a sophomore, I study business. I did not participate much in college last year, I was more committed to studying." He laughs.
"Oh seriously, you should be a library rat then," Chenle chuckles, "But glad you decided to join us mere students who need a club to improve their grades." He says in a tone of drama.
"It's the least I can do for this part of society," Chenle rolls her eyes, Jisung laughs, "What's your course?"
Chenle perks up, "I study architecture."
"I have a friend who study architecture." Chenle frowns, and mimes a "who?" Jisung laughs, "Who? Oh, Lee Jeno."
"Are you friends with Lee Jeno? Lee Jeno is famous across campus, the material boyfriend who already has a boyfriend, so you know Na Jaemin too?" Jisung shakes his head affirming, "Oh really you were a library rat, otherwise they would have seen you with them."
"Is this a problem?" Jisung asks confused.
Chenle flashes a smug smile, "Of course not, so I can keep you to myself."
Jisung feels his cheeks heat up, and he doesn't even know if that's possible in a vampire, it wasn't holy water that would make him burn at the end of time, it was Chenle.
Between sips of hot chocolate they talk about their likes, dislikes, Jisung discovers that Chenle has a puppy when Chenle shows her pictures, leaving a pouting Jisung begging to see her in person, Chenle promises he will let Jisung meet her one day.
They exchange their phone numbers and split across campus, Jisung feels her chest ache with every step Chenle takes away from him, and apparently, Chenle does too, who turns with her hand on her chest and runs back to where Jisung is standing there confused.
"Are you feeling it?" He asks, Jisung shakes his head saying, "Strange huh, maybe our hearts are connected." He jokes.
Jisung laughs too, he has no idea if Chenle knows about all this, but he doesn't care, "Maybe they are, this is what they call soulmates, right?!"
Chenle laughs, and it's a sound Jisung would give anything to hear and to be able to see a Chenle with a beautiful smile on his face and eyes crinkling in the corner, every day for the rest of his long life.
"Are we?" Chenle says holding his gaze but swaying from side to side, Jisung didn't expect him to be embarrassed, but it's cute, so cute, with big eyes trying to find an answer in Jisung when they're all in their own gaze, when those eyes focused only on him, it all seemed to make sense.
Jisung approaches, closer than he already was, and holds Chenle's face with his hands tracing circles on his cheeks, Chenle revels in the affection.
"Do you want to be my soulmate, Chenle?" He asks, and Chenle finds a place on his waist with steady hands.
"Can you choose these things?" Chenle was already whispering, feeling her knees go weak and her only firm point being in Jisung's eyes that hold him.
"I suppose we've sort of been chosen already." Jisung whispers too, his eyes dropping to Chenle's round lips which should be soft and taste like earlier hot chocolate, he would love to taste it.
"Jisung, kiss me, please." He mutters and Jisung does, closing the distance between them and gluing their lips together.
Chenle exhales when he feels Jisung's lips on his, pulling him around his waist and gluing their bodies together, exploring his sweet lips.
Her lips definitely tasted like hot chocolate, Jisung would be weird enough to say that it tasted better in Chenle's mouth, and her lips were even softer than he had imagined.
Jisung feels dizzy, he could get drunk from Chenle's lips, and would be delighted.
Before it all deepens, Chenle pulls away, her breath shuddering, cheeks red and wet lips looking down between them.
"Oh, that was sudden." He lets out a laugh.
Jisung who still held his face, lifts him gently to look at him.
"I'm sorry if that was weird, I just felt different, oh my I'm freaking out, forget it-" Chenle starts rambling, if he knew how different Jisung feels too, if he knew the supposed truth.
He interrupts him, "Shh it wasn't weird, and I kissed you too isn't it, don't stress about it." Chenle shakes his head, a smile opening up on his face.
They walk away, with a silly smile and half embarrassed. Following the same path, heading for Chenle's apartment, just because he decided that Jisung was worthy of meeting his puppy, Jisung jumped in excitement.
"If I told you that I am a vampire, and that you are the reincarnation of my first love, my soulmate, would you believe me?" Chenle stops, he looks seriously at Jisung, the neutral expression, Jisung feels apprehensive and if he scared the boy, or Chenle thinks he was a madman.
Until he laughs loudly, throwing his head back and giving Jisung's shoulder a shove.
"You definitely joined the right club." This time Jisung laughs along, drawn in by Chenle's laughter.
Maybe one day he will believe.
Until then Jisung will be here, it was a promise, he will always find him.
